C5 Meet Again
Chu Xiaoli's anger flared up again, and she gritted her teeth, saying, "Why should I answer?"
Xiao Chen paused for a moment before replying, "Unless you want me to give you a warning."
He wouldn't harm Chu Xiaoli, but his anger would certainly affect those around her.
With her eyebrows raised in defiance, Chu Xiaoli retorted, "Sir, you're incredibly boring and completely unreasonable."
With that, she hung up on Xiao Chen without hesitation. This man had wronged her without any justification and now had the audacity to threaten her—she had never encountered someone so overbearing and irrational.
A bus pulled up in front of her, and only then did Chu Xiaoli realize she had wandered to the bus stop. Seeing the sparse passengers inside, she didn't care where it was headed. She stepped onto the bus in her three-inch heels, chose a window seat, and gazed outside.
The bus continued its journey, stopping occasionally at various bus stops. In the midst of this stop-and-go, she found herself at the final destination without even realizing it.
As the driver urged everyone to disembark, a cool breeze swept by, and Chu Xiaoli hugged her arms, realizing the bus had brought her to a cemetery. Her delicate face turned pale; no wonder she felt cold. It was midday, yet she felt a bit scared.
The next bus wouldn't arrive for a while, and she figured it would be better to catch a cab back. Now, Chu Xiaoli regretted her decision to aimlessly board a bus like some character in a novel. Great, now she was at a cemetery.
But since it was noon, taxis were scarce, and being in such a remote area made them even rarer. As she glanced around, she suddenly noticed a man carrying a large bouquet of lilies, surrounded by bodyguards who respectfully followed him into the cemetery.
Was it just Xiaoli's imagination, or did the man's profile really resemble Xiao Chen's?
Suddenly, Xiaoli's expression darkened. If it truly was Xiao Chen, what was he doing here?
Without thinking much, Xiaoli instinctively followed him. From a distance, she saw the man stop in front of a gravestone. A light misty rain fell, reminiscent of tears.
In the rain, the man wore a well-tailored black suit, yet his silhouette inexplicably exuded a sense of melancholy. Xiaoli slightly lowered her gaze, extending her slender, pale hand to catch some raindrops, which slowly gathered into a stream in her palm. A few playful drops rolled off her thick, dark hair.
She had a vague feeling that today held some special significance, as fragments of memory flitted through her mind. Xiaoli tried to grasp them, but they left no trace. Instead, she stumbled, nearly tumbling down the slope behind her.
Frightened, she turned pale and looked toward where Xiao Chen had been, only to find he had vanished. Without thinking further, Xiaoli walked to where he had stood, in front of a gravestone. It was a couple's grave, and to her surprise, the people in the photo looked very young, barely in their twenties.
Her pale fingertips reached out to touch the image, but a sudden, firm grip clamped down on her wrist. The next moment, she was spun around to face him, her delicate chin lifted.
"Xiaoli?" The man seemed surprised but quickly released her. "What are you doing here?"
Seeing his face, Xiaoli realized it was indeed Xiao Chen. Her wrist throbbed from his grip, fueling her anger. She glared at him with her clear, bright eyes. "What I'm doing here is none of your business!"
The girl's eyes, though filled with anger, remained clear, as if they could see through all his darkness. Xiao Chen lowered his gaze, avoiding eye contact with Xiaoli, and his tone was indifferent: "Foolish."
As soon as Xiaoli heard the man in front of her insult her, her big eyes widened, darting around before glaring at him with resentment. Her reaction only added a hint of amusement to Xiao Chen's dark eyes.
"How did you end up here? What kind of game are you trying to play with me?" Xiao Chen couldn't believe Xiaoli had managed to follow him to the cemetery, given that his schedule was always kept secret.
"What business is it of yours, you lunatic, that I'm here? Do you own this place?" Xiaoli rolled her eyes and turned her gaze to the gravestone. Before she could finish her sarcastic remark, the man spoke.
"The ones resting here are my parents. A car accident a few years ago closed their eyes forever."
