C6 Be Considerate

Chu Xiaoli was slightly surprised; she hadn't expected the man in front of her, with his wickedly handsome face, to have lost both parents. She should have felt a sense of schadenfreude, considering this man had ruined her life, but instead, she felt an inexplicable sadness.

A few years ago... she vaguely recalled reading a report about the tragic death of the Xiao family's CEO and his wife. At that time... what was she doing then?

Chu Xiaoli pondered, feeling as if she was on the verge of remembering something important. But before she could grasp it, the man seized her wrist, and his deep, pleasant voice resonated, "Chu Xiaoli, no matter how you ended up here, I warn you not to entertain any other thoughts."

Startled by the sudden grip on her wrist, Chu Xiaoli was too shaken to think further. Her clear eyes fixed on the man, she retorted, "Are you crazy?! You're the lunatic who... did this to me. That last sentence should be directed right back at you."

"Heh." Xiao Chen frowned slightly, his eyes narrowing as he spoke in a low voice, "I'll take you back."

Chu Xiaoli was momentarily stunned, clearly not expecting Xiao Chen to say that. She was indeed troubled about not having a ride back.

However—

The idea of being driven home by the man who had assaulted her made her feel resistant and uncomfortable.

"No need," Chu Xiaoli coldly refused.

A dark glint appeared in Xiao Chen's deep eyes. "Chu Xiaoli, you don't have a choice."

As soon as he finished speaking, a group of bodyguards appeared and forcibly escorted Chu Xiaoli into a sleek black Rolls-Royce that Xiao Chen had ordered his staff to bring around.

Chu Xiaoli struggled desperately, but it was in vain. The Rolls-Royce sped off swiftly, and she bit her lip in frustration. Unable to fight back, she resigned herself to the situation, sitting silently in the car, refusing to glance at Xiao Chen beside her.

The car was far more comfortable than most, yet Chu Xiaoli felt uneasy, her brow furrowing slightly. The BMW was a good car, but its speed made her a bit carsick.

Xiao Chen glanced at Xiaoli, noticing her slightly furrowed brow, and spoke softly, “Take it slow.”

The driver was taken aback. Xiao Chen’s time was incredibly valuable, every minute worth a five-figure sum, yet he was asking to slow down on the way back to the office?

But as a driver, he knew his duty well. He immediately reduced the speed to the minimum allowed on the road. It was a challenge for the car, a fine vehicle now crawling along at a snail’s pace.

However, Xiaoli’s complexion improved significantly. She glanced at Xiao Chen, her lips pressing together as she couldn’t help but wonder if he also got carsick, prompting the slower pace. Or was it... because of her?

The ride continued in silence.

When Xiaoli got out of the car, she was about to walk away when she suddenly remembered the incident at the hospital today. She turned and asked, “Xiao Chen, did you help me take a leave from work today?”

Xiao Chen’s lips curled into a teasing smile, “Could it be... after last night, you’re still able to work? That would be questioning my manhood.”

Fuming, Xiaoli slammed the car door. The window was open, and she could still see Xiao Chen’s infuriating grin. “The city’s wealthiest man enjoys being a criminal? Is Mr. Xiao proud of that?”

“I don’t know if the richest man in the city likes being a criminal, but I do know he likes to tease Xiaoli,” Xiao Chen taunted her until her expression grew darker. Then he said seriously, “Xiaoli, this... is something you owe me.”

“I’ve never met you before. How could I owe you anything?” Xiaoli frowned. “Do you have the wrong person?”

If this man had mistaken her for someone else, and she lost her dignity for no reason, Xiaoli would be furious enough to go on a rampage.

“Don’t know me? That’s fine.” Xiao Chen smiled enigmatically. If Xiaoli looked closely into his eyes, she’d see a cold fury brewing there, though the angrier he got, the more composed he appeared. “You may not remember now, but there’s plenty of time for you to recall.”

Chu Xiaoli smirked, giving him a dismissive laugh, then strutted home in her three-inch heels, quickly forgetting about Xiao Chen.

Once home, Chu Xiaoli cooked dinner and retreated to her room. Half an hour later, her brother arrived, leaving her mind blank.

"Bro!"

Chu Zhiyuan's face was swollen and red, covered in bruises. Although Xiaoli could tell at a glance that they were just superficial wounds, the severity of his appearance made her panic, her heart racing with worry.
