C14 Traces

Three days was enough for them to open up a path in the place they were going to.

Therefore, Jeremiah and the others were able to reach the second camp very quickly. The so-called second camp was the place where Claire had hung the pendant.

It was a valley with a relatively flat terrain. There was a stream running through it. Because of the continuous rain, the stream had swelled up.

Forty people started to search the mountain according to the direction they had decided on. The mountain trail was slippery, and they had to cut down the bushes to open a path if they encountered any.

Jeremiah asked them not to rush, but to not miss any place.

The search was very slow, but the careful search finally paid off. When the sky turned dark, they finally found something.

Jeremiah let the other team members continue, and he rushed over himself. "Thank you. How was it?"

"The traces are still fresh. I can see that someone has been here before. The most important thing is, look at this. It's blood."

As he explained, the flashlight shone directly on the bloodstains. Jeremiah also saw the scattered bloodstains.

There were not many, just a few drops, but they were still very obvious on the ground that had turned white.

There were also a few green leaves and two packs of biscuits scattered around the bloodstains.

The hole was not deep. To be exact, it could not be called a hole. It was just a protruding mountain rock that formed a semicircle around the surrounding terrain.

However, it was enough for them to temporarily avoid the rain.

Jeremiah took a few photos of the area and asked, "This is... Peppermint leaf?"

"I was researching it just now. I also think it should be a peppermint leaf."

Peppermint could treat cold headaches and heat. It could also stop bleeding, and it could also... be eaten raw.

"Cold headaches," Jeremiah murmured. He didn't know who he was asking, "Did you catch a cold?"

It was possible that he had caught a cold, but it wasn't a good discovery.

The rain was still falling.

The night was getting darker and darker. After everyone had finished searching the designated area, they returned to camp number two to rest and replenish their supplies. They had already discovered the possible raindrops, but no one felt relieved.

The discovery of the blood made everyone's hearts sink. If Claire was really injured, no one could imagine what would happen to her after three days.

"Eat something?" Another teammate, T-Bone, walked over and handed him a piece of bread.

Jeremiah didn't take it. He stared at the map and asked, "How is the injured one?"

Team No.05 had stepped into the hunter's trap and was injured.

"The team doctor has already treated him. He is not in any danger. We'll send him down after the rain stops. However, in this situation, we might not be able to continue at night. There are traps and cliffs everywhere. It's too easy to get into trouble. In just a short while, a few people have already been injured."

Jeremiah nodded. "Inform the rest that we will stop at night. The injured will retreat down the mountain after dawn."

After hearing his orders, T-Bone returned shortly after. Seeing that Jeremiah was still looking at the map, he could not help but ask, "What did you see?"

"She is walking up the mountain. Also, she is lost."

"Hmm?"

Jeremiah pointed at the red circle that he had marked, "Number 1 is where she was painted, Number 2 is the place where the pendant was lost, and Number 3 is probably here to avoid the rain. From Number 1 to Number 2, it can be seen that the terrain is relatively flat, and there are signs of people walking around. So, she should have come here casually to take a look. But when she looked at Number 3, it was a higher place, and the terrain was obviously much more complicated. It was getting further and further away from Number 1. If she had wanted to leave at that time, she would have gone back to Number 3. The only possibility is that she was lost, and she had completely lost her direction. So, I think that she went up the mountain to look for the way down the mountain."

T-Bone was impressed. He had been having a headache looking at the mountains on the map. He patted Jeremiah's shoulder and said, "Alright, it's good that you know what to do. Don't look anymore. Rest well and continue to look for her tomorrow. Try to find her as soon as possible."

However, on the second day, the worst situation happened. A landslide occurred.

Although it was only a small-scale landslide next to the mountain, the higher-ups ordered all the rescue teams to temporarily withdraw from Hell Valley for safety purposes.
