C25 Chapter 25

The energy was shared between us, that moment I knew that she wanted me and I her, there was no denying it but all I needed was her consent, then I would run wild for her and I wondered how she would be crouched in my arms. I could only imagine.

She sipped the last of her wine, my eyes followed her glass to the table where she dropped it and my eyes fell on her face and then her lips and back to her eyes.

I watched her shut her eyes and breathe.

“Your house smells like you, hypnotic." She said breaking the soft silence.

" How do you know what I smell like?. “

" Are you kidding me, I love to smell you, any chance I get. “

I was wise enough to read the emotions on her last note.

I smiled.

" You're actually too good looking for a man, I swear that I have never seen the most handsome face in my entire life. “

" Thank you and I'm glad you think that. “

" Would your eyes still remain blue if they saw me naked?. “

" I'm.. I'm not sure.. I mean, you could see them for yourself. “ I said, at first searching hopelessly for words and then throwing up the best I could think of and later imagining how it felt, because it tasted sour immediately after it left my tongue, but it worked.

She slowly and charmingly walked towards me and I took her and gently led her to my room, I remembered to lock the door, I was about to be buried in bliss.

My weekend was spent well, half of it was used to daydream about Mandy and the other half I was consumed by work, it was a fine balance.

It was Monday morning, I almost rushed to work in my pajamas, I was in a very good mood.

Nessa had taken notice of it and she wouldn't let me hear a word while she poured my coffee.

I got to work early but Mandy hadn't arrived yet.

I was too early.

Adrian had sent his assistant, Marcos, who was a young nice looking Mexican. I preferred him to Adrian, and we had both completed the project that I and Adrian had started.

It was 1:33pm and I couldn't wait to see Mandy, I couldn't wait for her to walk into my office carrying a file, I went to look for her myself.

I went to her office but her desk was empty and orderly, it looked untouched.

I asked her assistant and she had said that Mandy didn't come in today.

I went to my office and I dialled her number. It was a shame that I was only noticing her absence now.

The line went to voicemail, I dialled it again to see if she would pick up the call.

She didn't.

I phoned Edison and asked him to give me the address of everybody that worked for me.

In seconds he came with the file.

“I was quick. You sounded as if a life depended on it."

“Thank you Ed."

“Anytime."

I boiled down my search to 'Ma'.

There was, Mabel, Mac, Mace, then there she was Mandy.

I copied her address and I searched it on Google maps.

In a few minutes, I was driving towards her house.

I rang the door bell.

Nobody answered, I rang it again. I was sure that I was at the right house.

I went to look through the window, I couldn't see, the blinds were down.

I banged on the door this time.

There was no answer.

She had a neighbor, I went to the house beside hers.

I rang the door bell and waited, a middle aged woman opened the door.

“Hi, how can I help you?." Her accent was very strong.

" Good day ma'am, I'm looking for Mandy, I came her hoping you had seen her today."

“No, not today, but I saw her on Saturday, I was on the porch when I saw her walk in from going to get groceries. And then she turned to me and we nodded to eachother, we did that all the time, we hardly communicated through words, she's a nice girl and she's damned pretty too, she reminded me a lot about myself when I was younger. Anyways, I was still sitting out here when I saw a black truck pull up just over there, opposite her house and the guy in the truck just stares at her house for a long time and then he leaves. “

" A guy, did you see him, his face, what he looks like, can you describe him or recognize him if you see him again?. “

" Hold your horse…"she said smiling, I understand, you're trying to find Mandy, and you seem to me like you're a good person. “No, even if I did, my mind is foggy, I can't recall his features, but he was wearing a baseball cap, those type that looks real good. “

" After then, did Mandy leave the house."

“The young man came again in the evening, just before the sun started to set, he did the same thing he did the first time, stare at the house and then leave, so I went over to Mandy's house and I knocked on her door and then I told her, 'there's a man watching your house' I didn't mean to spook her, God knows I didn't, but she looked spooked, so I told her, she could call the cops and report the case but then she smiled a little, those types of smile you would smile if you wanted to brush a matter off and then she thanked me, she was grateful, I could tell and then I left and went about my own darn business, last I saw her was Saturday evening. “

“Thank you."

“You're welcome." She shouted off to me but I could hardly hear her, I was already driving off to the police station.

I was there, at the police station.

When I was younger the police station had freaked me out, it still gave me that edgy feeling but I was here to find Mandy.

God knows how weird it would be if she was safe and the old woman was just being paranoid and Mandy would walk into her own house that would be swarmed with cops searching for evidence, I hoped she was safe, whether it was weird or not, I wasn't taking any chances.
