C30 Chapter 30

My throat was burning, as if I had drank too much of gin, but it didn't burn from the consumption of alcohol, it burnt from thirst.

I could drink an ocean right now if they let me, I could suck up the Pacific in a single sip and I might still feel thirsty.

I thought of asking Geoffrey for water, but I didn't want to speak with him. I went to the window, it was tightly shut, since I came here, the window has never been opened.

I tried to check the rims to see if I could penetrate, I looked around the room, to see if I could break it with something, anything.

I saw nothing, I sat in silence, only hearing the ticking of the clock, that annoying clock, that would tick so slow at night.

I looked at the clock, it had a metal rim, the idea struck me.

I went to the clock, it was fairly large, I broke the glass carefully and as quiet as I could and the plastic came off, then I had a square shaped metal frame, I bent it, it was too hard it couldn't bend.

I ran to the wkndow and I started to try to find an edge in the glass window that seemed as if it was built with the wall.

If I could make it as a simple lever, I could just pop it open like a bottle opener or something... I was still working when I heard.

“It's bullet proof, even if you shot at it, it won't break, I don't know what a clock frame would do to it. “ how come he was so silent, how did I not hear the door open, how did I not hear him walk into the room.

I was facing him now.

He walked a little towards me and I shifted back, my back touching the wall, then he stopped. His expression changed, from proud to yearning.

" If only you can love me, can you just stop being stubborn and love me, darn it, aren't I good enough, you ran away from me and I've been searching the hell for you and now I found you and you just want to make me do evil things to you, we can be together, we can be happy together, just like other couples out there, Mandeline, look at me, your father didn't love you, your mother left you too soon, who loved you after they left you, who was there for you when nobody was, who gave you things, it was me, I showed you the finer things in life, without me, you would probably be living in a shed somewhere, if it wasn't for me.“

I was holding a metal frame….I was holding a metal frame, if only I had found a way to bend the frame then and it would have broken, I could stab him in the throat.

" What are you thinking, huh? What is going on in that beautiful head of yours. “

I turned away from him, he always found a way of reading my mind through my eyes.

" Baby. “ He said walking towards me, he was about eight feet apart from me, I held the frame tighter, I coukd use it's edge, seven... Six... Three then I went for his throat, right in the middle.

He fell to the ground and he was groaning.

My hands were shaking, I could'nt hold the frame again, it dropped to the ground, I went for the door, I closed it but the key wasn't in the key hole, I went to the exit and I banged against the door.

I screamed and I kicked it and I stomped on it, anything for it to open.... The sharp pain was the only thing I could think of…the sharp pain that suddenly strucked my head like thunder. I turned to Geoffrey, he was holding a bat, a baseball bat, no, he didn't just hit my head with a baseball bat.

I put my hand to my head, where I felt the pain, I brought it to my face and I saw blood, my own blood, then the throbbing came, I couldn't hold my legs, my legs couldn't hold me either, I fell to the ground, Geoffrey smiling down at me was the last thing I could remember, before I faded into the void.

I drove to the location, where Adrian had maped-out for me. God help him if it wasn't correct.

It was deep in the woods, all I could see were pine trees, what kind of a madman would build a cabin so deep?

There was a trail and it led exactly to where Adrian had mapped, it would supposably lead me to the cabin.

And it did, it led me there.

I took my guns from the back of my car where I had kept it.

I had started to use guns as long as I could remember, when it was Christmas, my dad would take me and his friends for a hunt in the woods, we owned that part of the land and they were plenty of deers.

They weren't afraid to give me a gun, I wasn't afraid to handle one either. I remember shooting down deers, I was thirteen when I killed my first deer, but those holidays were too short and my parents were too busy and since they introduced me to shooting down live animals since I was a child, I was hungry to shoot down something live, I joined the army when I was eighteen and I had trained there for a year, in total I had killed a lot of people, but they were all bad people, I would never shoot down a good person.

I looked down at my gun, it was reliable and I could trust it.

I walked towards the cabin, it was big, just a bungalow but it was wide, so we're it's windows and the doors were looking heavy.

I went round the cabin, there was just one door and seven Windows, so there was just one exit if I wasn't counting the windows.

I knocked on the door, chances that any other person apart from Geoffrey would answer the door was too slim.
