C10 Is This A Dream

"Sir, the guard outside the prisoner's cell just linked me, letting us know she's awake," Orian says, looking at me to get my reaction.

"You handle the interrogation. I'll watch from here." I respond while pointing out the security video I've already pulled up on my computer screen. He shakes his head but bows his head in submission and starts to walk out of my office. As he's walking out, Ashley walks in, shoving past him. He rolls his eyes at her and closes the door. She walks around my desk, lowers herself to her knees between my legs, then tries to unzip my pants. I stop her and tell her she needs to leave my office.

"I just want to please you, my King." She says, reaching for my zipper again, still on her knees between my legs.

"I said no!" I said, raising my voice to her for the first time.

"So it's true, you've found your mate?" She says.

"Drop it, Ashley!" I say, not wanting to confirm anything.

"Is she better than me?" She asked, looking almost hurt.

"I said drop it and leave," I say in my alpha tone. "And don't come back without knocking."

She quickly jumps up and runs out the door. With a small smile, I turn back to the computer screen. My mate is on her knees, begging Orian not to reject her sister, and I can't help the growl that comes out of me. She's the future queen and shouldn't be begging anyone for anything.

"Ask her why they ran away from the pack the orphanage was in." I link Orian.

As she explains everything, Ryker is pacing in the back of my mind. I can feel his aggravation rising at her response to my beta, and it's taking everything in me to keep him from taking control.

"Let her out of that damn cell right now!" He yells.

"You know I can't do that, Ryker," I respond to his demand.

"Bullshit!" He retorts. "You're the fucking King. You can do whatever you damn well please."

"It's not that simple, and you know it," I say. "She's a witch."

"She's our mate Zion!" He yells again. "Witch or not, the Moon Goddess made her specifically for us. She deserves better than a cot in a dirty cell in the dungeon!"

"I will discuss it with Orian when he is done interrogating her," I say.

"You're a real ass." He says as he disappears into the back of my mind.

"I'm aware of that," I say to myself. Knowing no one is around to hear it. Would the Moon Goddess really pair me with a witch? I sat there thinking to myself and didn't even notice Orians back in my office.

"Sir," He says, gaining my attention. "Can we move her out of the cell and let her see her sister and the pup?"

"Seems you and Ryker are conversing behind my back," I say with amusement, thinking to myself for a moment. "Fine, but she's not to leave her room."

"What room would you like me to put her in?" He asks.

"Put her in the room across from us," Ryker tells me, and I mentally shake my head. But before I could answer Orian, Ryker pushed forward and took control.

"Put her in the room across the hall from me," Ryker answers.

"Yes, sir," Orian said in shock, making his way out of my office. He knows Ryker rarely comes forward to voice his opinions to anyone other than me.

"I wish I could kick your ass!" I say.

"Yea, too bad you would be kicking your ass instead." He retorts, laughing as he returns to the back of my mind.

"What the hell am I supposed to do with all of this?" I think out loud to myself. I decide to get up and head to my suite before Orian brings her to her room.

Rains P.O.V.

While sitting on the cot in this dirty cell, all I'm able to think about is Jess and Odett. If I have to spend the rest of my life here, I can die happy knowing they are safe. After about an hour, Beta Orian opens the cell door.

"You ready to see your new room?" He asked, and I looked up at him in confusion.

"What? I finally ask. "I don't have to spend the rest of my life in this cell?"

"You've done nothing wrong. We only brought you here out of precaution." He says. "The King has given me permission to move you to a room."

"Oh, okay, we'll thank you," I say in appreciation as I struggle to stand.

"Are your wounds still not healed yet?" He asked, noticing I'm in pain. I shook my head.

"No, Dosha isn't strong enough to heal me after she had to take control to fight those rogues," I say, gritting my teeth to get through the pain.

"Well, please let me help you. It's a bit of a walk to your room." He says as he walks to me, waiting for me to accept his help.

"Thank you. But I can handle it. I've had worse pain than this." I respond, and he nods his head in understanding.

"Though you are not a prisoner, I will ask that you not leave your room unless escorted by myself or a guard." He says as we make our way up a set of stairs. I nod my head in understanding as I breathe through the pain.

It feels like we've been walking for hours. Now I see what he meant by saying, "It's a bit of a walk." How big is this place? I think to myself while looking at all the fancy decorations and furniture. We walk to the end of a long hall when Beta Orian stops, opens a door, and motions for me to enter. As I enter the room, I'm completely shocked.

"It's beautiful," I say in awe of the large room. "I've never had my own room."

"Well, this one is all yours," He says with a smile. "Unless you would prefer to have a roommate."

I look at him in confusion. Who is he talking about I wonder to myself. Before I can ask what he means, I hear Odett and Jess squeal loudly, and I'm tackled and hear Beta Orian laugh.

"Easy ladies, she's still not fully healed." He says, and they release me from their tight embrace.

"Oh Goddess, are you okay, Rainie-bug?" Jess asked.

"Just a little sore still," I respond.

"Okay, ladies, seems y'all have some catching up to do, so I'll leave y'all to it." He says as he walks over to Jess grabbing her hand, bringing it to his lips, and gently kissing it. "And I'll be back for the two of you in a bit."
