C77 The Catch Up

Rain's P.O.V.

I wake up to the voices of Jess, Mia, and Morgan. I sit up and look around the room, remembering everything that happened during and after the attack. My heart rate rises when I realize Zion isn't in bed and I'm in different clothes. Jess notices I'm awake and panicking, and she rushes over to me, placing her hand on my shoulder.

"Calm down, sis. Everything is okay, and you're safe." She says.

"Where's Zion?" I ask her. I need to know he's okay.

"He's outside talking with the guys." She answers, and I relax. He's up and moving, so he must be feeling better and mostly healed.

"My Queen, how are you feeling?" A man says as he walks over to me.

"I'm fine. I'm sorry, who are you?" I say as I grow nervous at his presence. Jess quickly picks up on my feelings as she sits on the edge of the bed.

"This is the Blue River Pack doctor." She says, and my nerves level out.

"I didn't mean to startle you, my Queen. I know you have been through quite an ordeal." He says, and I nod.

"It's okay. I'm sorry for my reaction." I say with my head down.

"It's my fault, my Queen. I know the last time you were in this pack was not a happy time. I apologize on their behalf." He says, and I can feel his genuine sadness for her.

"It's okay. I know now that they were following orders from their previous Alpha." I say, hoping he understands I don't hold it against anyone other than Ms.Leana and the previous Luna.

"Are you feeling any pain or discomfort?" He asks me, and I shake my head.

"No, but I would like to know who changed me," I say. Jess looks at me and smiles.

"That would be me. I figured you wouldn't like to wake up smelling like a rogue and covered in the King's blood." She says, and I relax a bit, knowing that no one else saw me naked.

"What happened to all those clothes I bought?" I ask her.

"They were destroyed in the fight. We have someone going to get replacements for them." Mia says, and I smile at her.

"Thank you, Mia. Was anyone else hurt?" I ask.

"No, my Queen. It seems like they were only after you and the King." She says as she stares at the floor nervously.

"I need to see Zion," I say, and Jess nods.

"I'll link him to let him know you're awake." She tells me, and I thank her. A few minutes later, Zion walks into the room with everyone else.

"I'm glad to see you're awake, my love," Zion says as he makes his way to the bed, leaning over and kissing me on the forehead.

"I'm glad to see that you've healed," I tell him with a smile.

"How are you feeling? Are the pups okay?" He asks me, and I nod.

"We're fine, a little nauseous and hungry. But we're okay." I say as I realize I have the urge to puke, but I am trying hard to keep it down.

"We'll get you something to eat, then after your clothes arrive, we'll see the kids." He says, and I grin.

"Thank you!" I say with excitement. I can't wait to see them. I've missed them so much and felt so guilty for having to leave them. I only hope they can understand and forgive me.

After about twenty minutes, our food arrived, and everyone other than the doctor decided to stay in the room and eat with us. We laughed, and the guys joked around a bit. Talking about their childhood made me slightly sad, but I tried to hide it as best I could. At some point, Zion picked up on my emotions and placed his hand on my shoulder, instantly relaxing me. I gave him a thankful smile before there was a knock at the door. Christian opens the door and lets in a tall, seventeen-year-old young lady with medium-length brown hair and a caramel skin tone that makes her blue eyes pop. She's carrying bags from the same stores we were at yesterday, and it registers in my mind that she was the one who was sent to get my replacement clothes.

"Hello, Your Highness. I've brought your clothes. I'm confident that I got everything on the list." She says as she bows.

"Thank you so much. What's your name?" I ask her.

"Lorilie, my Queen." She answers with a smile.

"That's a beautiful name. Thank you, Lorilie." I say as I take the bags from her.

"You are very kind, my Queen. Thank you." She says before turning to walk out of the room.

"She was one of the slaves Max had kept after finding her as a rouge two years ago," Christian says, making my eyes go wide in horror.

"I don't remember seeing her in the orphanage," I say.

"She was too old to be in the orphanage. She was sixteen at the time." Jess says.

"She looks so young," I tell her as I place the bags on the end of the bed, looking through them to find something to wear for the day. "Does she have everything she needs?"

"Yes, she's been brought in as a pack member and has her own room with everything she could ever need," Nick answers, and I'm thankful.

"Thank you," I say.

"There's no reason to thank us, my Queen. We should have put a stop to it long before now." He says, and I can feel his guilt oozing off him in waves.

"You had no choice but to follow the orders of your former Alpha," I say in understanding. "Speaking of Max, did I kill him?"

"No, my Queen. The men who went to check out the area of the attack said that he was nowhere to be found. They did, however, find many dead rogues." Eithan answers. Damn it!

"Well, that's unfortunant. I'm glad to see that you are beginning to settle into your new position." I say, trying to keep my disappointment under wraps.

"We'll find him, my love," Zion says, and I nod in agreement. I took my clothes to the attached bathroom and dressed quickly. The clothes were comfortable and not too tight around my growing belly. Jess cleaned my shoes and brought them to me in the bathroom.

"You've grown more just since I left." She says.

"Doctor Jameson says that the twins are growing faster than he's ever seen. I've been told to take extra vitamins and eat more protein-enriched food to keep up with them." I tell her.

"Is it safe for you?" She asks, full of worry.

"I don't know. And I won't lie and say that I'm not scared. But for now, I'm healthy." I tell her honestly, with tears threatening to fall from my eyes.

"Everything is going to be okay. You are too strong to let this hurt you, and I'll be there to help you every step of the way. I promise." She says as she wraps her arms around me in a tight embrace.

"Thank you for everything, Jess!" I say as I straighten myself out, splashing my face with water from the sink.

"You never have to thank me. I'm your sister, and I'll always be there for you. Now, let's go. I have a surprise for you." She says, and I nod with a smile as she pulls me out of the bathroom.

"Are you okay, love?" Zion asks me, clearly feeling my worry while I was in the bathroom.

"Of course," I say with a smile. I don't want to come unravel again, especially in front of all these people. We walk out of the room and outside the pack house, and I notice the beat-up Jeep we drove here in. My eyes go wide as I become nervous to look over to Zion. "Holy Hell!"

"Yeah, I forgot to mention the Jeep," Jess says, laughing nervously.

"Did I do that when I hit Max?" I ask nervously.

"Either that or you hit a tree we don't know about," Mathew says with a laugh as I turn to gawk at him.

"It's okay, my love. Another one is already on its way. Have you ever driven before?" Zion asks, and I shake my head.

"No, I've never needed to drive before. Not that I had access to a vehicle before now." I answer.

"Well, until we can get you some lessons, you should leave the driving to someone else." He says, and I nod vigorously.

"I would rather not have to drive anyway," I say honestly, looking at the Jeep and cringing.

"That works for me," Zion says. "I like being able to drive you around myself."

"That's good cause I won't be going anywhere without you after yesterday." I retort, making him laugh as he pulls me closer to him.
