Jai Pov

At first, I ignored the voice considering it as their family matter but then curiosity took over me and I went near the door. What I saw astonished me. A man who appeared to be of my age was kneeling in front of Aunty with joined hands. His back was towards me.

" Aunty, you had promised me that you would marry her to me. I am patiently waiting for you to initiate but you are just ignoring the topic. Please, aunty, I want to marry her." He said in a pleading tone.

" First stand up and don't behave like a crybaby. When I have promised you that she is yours then believe it. Behave like a man and not some crybaby." The aunt spoke in an authoritative tone.

" Who gave you this right? Gaurav you better get lost before I lose my control. Before you go, I want to make one thing clear. I will not marry her to you. In your opinion, she may be an orphan, but she is not, she has me as her guardian. She has me and I don't want to marry her to you. She is my responsibility." Uncle's voice echoed throughout the hall. I flinched at his tone. Not wanting to interfere with their matters, I returned to my room.

I felt sun rays hitting my face. I groaned as I wanted to sleep a little more. A pair of hands started poking in my stomach which was making me ticklish. Slowly I opened my eyes and saw Kavya trying to wake me up. She hasn't noticed that I am awake. As she was trying to tickle me once again, I caught her wrists and pulled her into a hug. Her giggles filled the room.

"Good morning princess."

" Good morning dad. Dad, can we go and meet Arjun Chachu (uncle), I miss him." Kavya was looking at me with puppy eyes. She made a pout. Her brows were furrowed together. She was squirming on my chest.

" How can I not listen to you when you have that look on your face? Come let me freshen up then we can go and meet your Chachu." After finishing my morning routine, I took her to meet Arjun.

" Chachu '' she squealed on seeing Arjun and wiggled in my arms. I dropped her to the ground, and she ran and hugged Arjun's leg. He picked her up and peppered her face with kisses. I felt a tap on my shoulder. On turning I found Leena standing there.

"Good morning" she wished me.

"Good morning "

" Dad is calling for breakfast. After breakfast, can you both come here again? I want to discuss something." She scratched the back of her neck nervously.

" Come Arjun let us go."

"Anaira will serve him here. " She mumbled.

"Dad, I will eat with Chachu."

" Sure. You can eat with your favorite Chachu." I shrugged and walked away. Sometimes I feel she loves Arjun more than I do. Leena tried her best to bring Kavya, but she didn't come. She is a little stubborn but otherwise, she is a very sensible, kind-hearted, and sweet person just like her mother.

Leena Pov

I couldn't believe he just left his daughter with Arjun without any botheration.

" A penny for your thoughts." Jai snapped his fingers in front of me.

" Nothing. It was just that I couldn't believe you left Kavya with your staff without any botheration. I mean he can take advantage of the situation." I was.

" I trust him with Kavya. He is my diaper friend. He works with us because he wants to else, he is highly qualified and can earn well. " Leena was giggling.

" What happened? Why are you laughing? " Jai asked me. His eyes showed something different as if he was appreciating my giggles.

“You look cute when you laugh. No matter what happens in life, keep smiling like this only.” He caressed the back of my hand. I felt weird sensations. I pulled my hand and ran inside.

“What happened? Why is your face red? “I bumped into Shenna who looked worried.

“Don't worry sis. It is because of the heat. You know I'm allergic.” I tried to cover up.

Jai came in and we all proceeded to the table where dad was waiting for us. After breakfast, we all sneaked to the outhouse. Jai made Kavya sit at the table and asked her to complete her homework. We all sat in a circle near Kavya.

“What do you all want to discuss that can't be discussed inside the house?” Jai was the first one to question.

“Actually, in a fortnight, it is our parents' silver wedding anniversary. We are willing to throw a party and for that, we need your help.” I explained to them the reason for our meeting.

“That is great, but how can we help? I mean we are new in the town.” It was Arjun who spoke.

“I know you are new, but you can help us in planning and all.”

“For that, first of all, hire an event manager and then decide the theme. Following which we can work accordingly.” Jai advised.

" One of my friends is working as an event manager. I will contact her, and we can connect with her. " My sister spoke for the first time in a while. Something is going on; she is not herself these days. I will ask her afterward.

" Dad, see I have finished my writing. It is beautiful na." Kavya interrupted us. She went and sat on Jai's lap and started showing her work to him. The scene warmed my heart. If I want to be with Jai, then I need to win over Kavya. With those thoughts, I got up and went near Kavya.

“Wow, Kavya, your handwriting is neat. If you have finished your homework, then we can play with the doll house.”

“Dad, can I go with Didi? My work for today is finished.” She excitedly asked Jai.

“In the evening we can even go to the park. There are lots of slides and there would be children of your age with whom you can play,”

“Can't we go just now?”

“No dear it is too hot right now. I promise I will take you in the evening.” We all dispersed. Jai wanted to discuss something with Arjun hence he stayed.
