C10 Chapter Ten

Chapter Ten:

Fiona's POV:

Suddenly, it struck me. Probably, this was exactly what happened to my father's business.

I could not wait to leave the office to cross-check the documents I got from the company.

"I asked the secretary for the company's sales report but she declined." I told him.

" I was surprised that the company needed a loan it is making so much sales.. I thought." I said.

"But don't get me wrong.. I believe whoever did that did it for the company's good." I told him to avoid him from panicking.

Mr Whitman called the secretary immediately and she handed over the documents.

She looked like she was being forced, but I cared less.

"She can go to hell." I thought within me.

I left the his office and retired back to mine and decided to go through the sales document.

"What! Just three sales for the whole year?" I thought bewildered.

"We will get to the root of this." I told myself.

The day came to an end and I dashed home immediately. I could not wait for Veronica, so I ordered a ride.

As I waited, I started hearing someone yell. I got closer to the scene and saw a gorgeous lady, beautifully dressed.

I wondered why she was telling, then I saw the CEO trying to make her calm.

"After all I have done for you.. you choose to treat me this way.. you dumped me, Whitman." She said yelling.

"Men!" I said as I turned to leave without even hearing his own part of the story.

I arrived home and went straight to where I kept the drive, the home was still empty.

Veronica and Thomas were still not back.

"Damn! I knew it!" I said immediately noticed the forgery.

Dad's signature was different from this but I only noticed because I was conversant with his signature.

"I must confess whoever did this is a big time genius." I told myself.

It had a slight difference from Dad's signature but I remained perplexed thinking who must have done this.

"I would visit the Criminology Agency tomorrow. We need to end this!" I said.

The next day, I got ready for work dressed in a long sleeved shirt and straight skirt with a four inches stiletto heel.

But before that I visited the Criminology Agency, then I met the officer in charge.

"Good morning, officer." I greeted the officer.

"Good morning, young lady." He answered.

"What can I do for you?" He asked me.

I narrated everything to the officer and had pity on me and he agreed to work with me.

I handed over to him the evidences and the other documents with my father's original signature.

"I would work on this and give you a call when anything happens." The officer told me and I left.

"You look great today." The security guard complemented me as I got to the office.

As soon as I got in, I noticed the manager speaking with Anita, but I noticed his attention was not with her and his eyes were fixated on me.

This made me uncomfortable that I almost tripped.

"Careful, Miss Fiona." Anita told me as she heard me scream, while the CEO only looked away.

"Thank you." I said as I walked into my office feeling awkward.

I was done with the day's job and decided to wait for my ride outside the building. I already asked Veronica not to bother about me, because work was becoming tedious for her lately.

"Beep! Beep!" My phone vibrated.

"My ride must have arrived." I said to myself as I checked my phone.

"Why are you headed?" Whitman asked as he parked his car beside me.

"I just order an Uber and it is here already." I told him.

"It wouldn't hurt cancelling and you gotta do it quickly because the sky seems to be pregnant." He said pointing to the sky smiling.

I hopped into the vehicle and we drove in silence till he cut in.

"I am sorry we started off on a wrong note.. I mean at the interview..." He started.

"I was not in my right state of mind and I anybody would do that the good of their business." He explained.

"That is not an issue, I would have done same if I was in your shoes." I replied.

"Thank you.. I hope I have not missed my way." He asked as I nodded my head and we continued the journey in silence.

I thanked him as we arrive and went inside the house, but I met Veronica and Thomas smiling at me weirdly.

"Why are y'all looking at me that way?" I asked them confused.

"That is a fine young man, Fiona." Veronica said smiling at me.

"What!.. never." I said when I understood why they were staring.

"That's my boss." I said angrily.

"That is none of my business but I said what I said." Veronica said giggling as she left.

I was less bothered about this, because it was least of my troubles at the moment.

**Throughout that night, I continued going through my phone, hoping the officer I met at the agency has gotten any information.**

Weeks after weeks, I got a call from the Criminal Agency telling me that the documents were truly forged.

I went straight to the agency and the officer, he showed a warrant of arrest. So, they were going to bring in my dad's manager in.

The arrest was successful and the manager was brought in.

Then I heard Uncle Victor voice yelling at the officer, but I was not sure, so I stepped out to peep.

I stepped out and I saw Uncle Victor and his son, Alexander.

"How dare you bring him in? What was his offence?" Uncle Victor kept yelling.

"Forgery, and he is the only culprit we could lay hands on now." He told him.

"What useless forgery?" He asked.

"I cannot answer anymore questions sir, let me do my job, please." The officer said and left.

Then, Uncle Victor barged into the office and saw me there. I froze immediately.

"Wow! You little rat!" Uncle Victor barked at me.

"Seems I underrated you, but we shall see." He threatened me.

I was confused seeing him at the agency.

"Does Uncle Victor have anything to do with my father's death?" I asked myself as it struck me immediately.
