C15 Chapter Fifteen

Chapter Fifteen

Fiona's POV:

"I do not want you to give me any form of condition, because I am already handling it my way." I told him.

"The officer handling your case had an accident this morning and it has been transferred to another officer." He told me.

"And this current man is working on the case with me. I mean, we are on one team." Uncle Victor continued.

"You are lying and just desperate." I yelled at him as I picked up my phone to verify.

And to my surprise, it was true. The news was everywhere on the internet.

"Now, I am going to clear the bankruptcy allegations against your father's company including the loans." He said convincingly.

"But on one condition." He repeated again while I stared at him in silence.

"You would get married to my son, Alexander." He said.

"What!" I exclaimed in disgust.

"You mean for me to get my father's company, I need to get married to that pervert you call a son?" I asked in anger.

"What do you have to do with my father's company's crash?" I asked him.

"Are you responsible?" I asked with tears in my eyes.

"Yes! Yes! Are you okay now?" He asked me with no atom of remorse.

"Did you kill my father? The auto crash, were you responsible for it?" I asked, screaming at the top of my voice.

"Yes, he would not go the easiest way about things and his principled self brought me so many problems." He said.

"What!" I said as I fell to the ground.

"How can you do this to your brother?" I asked in pain.

"He trusted you so much and took you as the brother he thought you were but you did this to him?" I asked him in tears.

"To hell with your help, I would see you in court." I told him.

"Careful, Fiona..." He warned.

"Careful so you do not become a mincemeat, Fiona. You know nothing about the game." He told me.

"Then you just watch me." I told him as I picked my bag and left his house in fury.

I arrived home and met Veronica and Thomas outside the house. They were all panicking.

"Fiona." They said as they all ran to hug me.

"What happened, Fiona?" Thomas asked me. He looked scared.

"I got worried when I received a call from your office asking if you were home." Veronica said.

"Let us go inside the house." She told me as we hurriedly got into the apartment.

As soon as we got in, then we heard a knock on the door. It was Whitman.

"What happened, Fiona?" Whitman asked in concern.

"I saw CCTV footage of some unknown people taking you away.. they had put a veil over your face." He told me.

"Yeah, your baby mama did." I told him.

"What!" He exclaimed in surprise.

"I never knew Pamela was capable of stopping this low." He said.

"I will fix this." He told us.

"I hope you were not hurt?" He asked me.

"No." I answered.

After some hours, he left.

"Watch your back." I told him with a faint smile as he left.

"Mom." I called Veronica as I went back in.

"It was not just Whitman’s baby mama." I said.

"It is much deeper than you have heard." I told her.

"Pamela, Whitman's baby mama is working alongside Uncle Victor..." I started.

"Uncle Victor, not again." Thomas said, hitting his forehead.

"He told me everything about how he was involved with dad's death and even the forgery and bankruptcy of his company." I told them.

"Did you know that the officer I met at the Criminal Agency got involved in an accident today and was hospitalized at the moment?" I asked them.

"Now the newest officer handling our case is on Uncle Victor's team so you know what that means." I told them.

"He told me that he is capable of reversing all the loan allegation threats against the company but on one condition." I said.

"What is it?" They all asked.

"That I marry his son, Alexander." I replied.

"What!" Thomas said in rage.

"Not after what he did to us and the lies he told against us." Thomas said.

"And I got into a relationship recently." I said.

"And who is that?" Veronica asked.

"Whitman and I love him a lot." I replied in tears.

"But anytime I try to get to the root of this problem, Uncle Victor keeps on frustrating me." I cried.

"It is going to be fine." Veronica told me in a warm embrace.

Going to bed that night was not easy at all. I had nightmares all through. I saw my dead mother and Uncle Victor and they were quite reoccurring.

I told Veronica about it but she told me that it could be as a result of the abduction.

Thomas started working with Veronica after school to at least earn a little for upkeep, besides he would be out of high school soon so he needs to get acquainted with the business world.

Veronica has always been appreciative of his presence in the coffee shop and how supportive he has been.

And I also noticed that Thomas kept to himself lately and always assured me that he is okay.

Although Uncle Victor kept calling to ask if I had come to a conclusion but I always ignored.

"I noticed that you have not been answering your calls lately. Is there any problem?" Veronica asked me one day.

"I am not accepting the conditions he is attaching, never. Not after all he has done to my family." I told her.

"I understand you, Fiona. Take your time, child," she said.

"I noticed Thomas keeping to himself lately. Are you aware?" Veronica asked me.

"Yes I did and he assured me that he is doing well." I told her.

"I hope you keep an eye on him." She added.

I recently noticed Thomas speaking in a muffled tone at night and always wondered who he had been talking to.

"I am still trying to convince her to take the offer, Uncle." I heard Thomas say as I got closer to him without him knowing.

"Who are you speaking with Thomas?" I asked Thomas as he dropped his phone in panic.
