C17 Chapter Seventeen

Chapter Seventeen

Fiona's POV:

"What!" I exclaimed in disbelief.

"So you want to sell your dignity for a thousand dollars." I yelled in pain.

"That man killed our Father in an auto crash and took his company from his children through forgery and you want to make me trust him?" I asked him, still in pain.

"It is all in the past Fiona." He told me.

"He took our father from us and all you think I should leave that in the past?" I asked him.

"You are just acting up, Fiona." Thomas said as he left my sight.

Everything just seems to be moving fast. O really do not know who I would turn to from here.

"The officer who seemed to be interested in my case got involved in an auto crash and is presently in a coma." I said to myself.

"Uncle Victor just seems to be ahead of me with every step I take." I said to myself.

"Fiona, wake up." I heard Veronica say as she tapped me. I had fallen asleep on the couch.

"You have been in your office clothes since you arrived from work. Go change up, child." Veronica said as I got up to leave.

"You avoid Thomas, for now. You need to think clearly so avoid the pressure that he is applying." Veronica advised me.

Alexander's POV:

"I heard Whitman took out all the secret cameras from his office." I told my father as I made cereal for breakfast.

"Yes, it was all Fiona's doing but I have less worries because I have got spies all over that company." Dad told me.

"Fiona is so knowledgeable that sometimes I blame myself for messing up." I told him.

"You can blame yourself because you already did." He answered me as he sipped from his cup of coffee.

"But she is now in love with Whitman dad." I added.

"If she really needs her father's company and Thomas does his own part of the job you will be fine." Dad assured me.

"I hope it works father." I told him as I retired to my room.

Fiona's POV:

"Please ma'am, I cannot let you in." The security stopped me from going into the building.

This statement alone gave me serious PTSD. I remembered when I was denied entry into my father's company and how my life turned around instantly.

I could see Whitman trying to talk with some bank officials, but he was totally ignored.

I rushed out of the building immediately and I headed straight to see Uncle Victor. I knew that he was in town and was the sole conspirator here.

I got there and he was already on his way to the office, alongside his son, Alexander.

"I need to talk to you." I told him.

"Fiona, I knew you would surely be back." He said.

"Are you here to agree to my own side of the deal?" He asked me.

"Yeah, but one condition." I told him.

"Haha." He laughed.

"Come off it, Fiona. I am not here to negotiate with you." He told me.

"Okay then, that is okay.. what is your condition?" He asked me.

"That you would release Whitman's business and never go after him again." I told him.

"I am not going to stay here and watch you tell me what I'd do or not. Besides, who told you that I am responsible for his company's bankruptcy?" He asked me.

"I know how you move, Victor and you are the sole conspirator." I answered with confidence.

"Then you have nothing to say." He told me as he turned to leave.

"Then I would tell the whole world how you killed my father, took his company away from me and tried to use my brother against me." I threatened him.

"Coupled with how you abducted me and how you are trying to seize Whitman's company from him dubiously." I fired.

"If you think I am not capable of doing this, just try me." I told him looking deep into his eyes.

He ignored me and got into his car without uttering a word.

Whitman called me and he asked me to stay at home a little till he rectified the issue, so I went to the coffee shop instead.

"What have you done, Fiona?" Veronica asked me in disbelief.

"Victor could come after you. Are you aware?" She asked me scared.

"He cannot do that.. I threatened to expose him and you know he is trying hard to protect his public face." I explained to Veronica.

"I hope it goes as well as you think, child." Veronica said as we continued with the work for the day.

"Fine, first thing tomorrow morning." Uncle Victor sent me a text. He has finally agreed to my own side of the deal.

"I told you, mom." I said happily as I showed Veronica the SMS.

"He would finally let Whitman be." I said in relief.

"But you know what you just did cost you your relationship with Whitman." Veronica told me as I bounced back to reality.

"You have to keep to your own part of the deal." Veronica said.

"I need to tell Whitman but I do not know how, mom." I told her in tears.

Whitman called that night and told me that the bankruptcy claims were going to be lifted.

He did not know how it happened but he felt so happy that he invited me to celebrate with him.

I agreed but I wondered throughout the time, how I would break the news to him.

I felt terrible and wondered how he would feel if it came to his knowledge.

I wore my best clothes, had my make-up done and left the house.

"You look so beautiful, my love." He complimented me as we locked eyes.

"Are you okay?" He asked me as I answered him with a nod.

"If you are not happy with the place, we could go somewhere else." He told me as I let a drop of tears.

"Why are you crying?" He asked me in concern.

"I am so sorry." I told him.

"You have done nothing wrong, why are you apologizing?"

"Please do not air me. I did it for your good, our good." I tried to clarify.

"I don't think this relationship can continue." I said.
