The car hit her.
For half a second, I froze.
Then I was running.
I barely felt my feet hit the pavement. People shouted around me. Someone screamed. A horn blared. I heard none of it. All I saw was the small body lying in the middle of the street, swallowed by the black hoodie that belonged to me.
