C2 WHY IS HE HERE?

Courtney couldn't help but tilted her head as she alighted from the BMW with her baggage carried by Sadie who battle with the heaviness. Another car pulled over and Malthus came out of it.

"Get my bags to the Inner and meet me at the game reserve." She said to Sadie.

"But... I have to be home before lunch Milady." Sadie explained.

"You do as I say." She retorted.

She made towards the school building admist the bustling and uproar of students hugging, talking and humming the sound of pleasure to see each other again. Sadie battle with the baggage towards the game Inner. Whilst Malthus stepped in front of the car taking better view of the whole school.

"When is Colton resuming?" He asked the Guard.

"Tomorrow."

"Is he still on vacation?" He asked in furtherance.

"Yes sir."

"Rush along then. Tell Mum that we're settling in. And don't forget our deal."

"Of course sir."

"Go on. And if you can convince father against giving us guards, I'll be glad."

"I'll try."

"Of course." He replied heading towards the school building while the Guards drove out of the compound.

Courtney met Isla exactly where she was supposed to be. As soon as she sighted Courtney from afar, she leapt and run towards her.

"You lying freak! You lied to me." She said happily as she hugged her tight.

"Just want it to be hell of a surprise."

"Sure it is. Where are your baggage?"

"What? You expect me to be dragging them around?"

"Of course not."

They hold each other as they both walk out of the Inner into the ball court.

"Nothing as changed much." She observed.

"Principal George wasn't much of good words. She didn't put up with that."

"Can't make her change our dorm this session."

"Why? Ariel? Again?" Isla retorted.

"I wasn't afraid of her. I just want to be left alone."

"Yeah I bet. Is she around?"

"No. She is on one stupid vacation with her mum."

"Hell!... I watched the audit. You killed it babe."

"Maybe. But Mum wasn't present."

"Why?"

"I think Malthus talked her out of it."

"Why would he do that?"

"The guy is an asshole and I don't see reasons why people are not getting that."

"Maybe because he is your brother."

"I always wish he wasn't born. He disrupted everything."

"I think the same about Elliot. He is a freak. Dad was just pouring on him. Bought him my dream car last month. I feel like strangling him to death." Isla said peevishly. Courtney took a strong look at her and winced.

"You are not going to do that, are you?"

"Of course not. He is my brother. I don't want to hurt either mum or Dad for killing him." She said and they both laughed.

"Don't worry about Ariel. We will scale through this session as well. Just wait and see."

They walked pass the music studio where the sound of guitar was coming out from.

"Who is playing first day at school?" Courtney asked surprisingly.

"Yes! I've been wanting to tell you. We have a new student. In our segment. A guy. F*** cute. I nearly bite myself. Saw him this morning. And Ophelia is already making advances. That bitch!" Isla retorted.

"Is he a full student?" Courtney asked.

"Of course he is. I'm sure you'll like him. No doubt."

Courtney looked at her and smiled.

"You can't be serious about that."

"Well, let's see how it goes."

Malthus walked into the school building and made straight to his former dorm. He walked in as quietly as all the time and sat on the bed. Sawyer and Collins were already inside talking incoherently.

"Hey. Welcome back." Sawyer greeted.

"Can you just shut up? You really don't have to do that." Malthus said calmly.

"This is a new day. We're just trying to be cool here Mal." Sawyer said sarcastically.

"I don't need your sympathy and I clearly don't look like I need it." Malthus fired.

You're still a freak. Illegitimate." Collins added and both of them laughed.

Malthus stormed out of the room angrily.

The event of the previous day about the attacker and the lady in black is still mystery to him. And even his drunk mother didn't remember any of those things ever happened.

Cleveland Model is mainly for the elite. The up and working class of the country and so, students from there majorly comes from a very wealthy family or just found their way there through scholarship. The likes of the students who came in through scholarship, were seen as outcasts and the less privileged. So, they hardly participate in anything or even get to talk as they want admist the other students.

After the gathering, each students was assigned to their dorm and the names of their dorm mates were pasted on the board where they all go to check. Courtney eyes fell when she realised she was being out in the same dorm as Ariel and not Isla.

"I need to get into George's office. This is brutal. They knew I wasn't in a good term with Ariel. Why the hell will she put us together in the same dorm? That's just not fair." She retorted.

Isla has this look when she is angry. And she'll barely say anything.

"I don't want to be in the same dorm with Emery either."

"Emery is nice Isla."

"I'm talking about her corrupted father."

"That has nothing to do with this?"

"Oh! It has alot to do with this. Did you know how many kids the water killed? You have no idea. And he is still there running the government."

"There is hardly anyone that is not corrupted." Courtney argued.

"I just can't imagine being in the same dorm with her realizing lots of lives were lost due to her father's quench for wealth."

"You can't say that to her."

"Try me."

"I'm not trying. Just keep your mouth shut for everyone's sake."

Malthus in the other hand was grateful for the changing of dorm. He wouldn't have to put up with Sawyer and Collins anymore. But Colton? Why on earth will they put him and Colton together in the same dorm? That is sheer wickedness.

The packing and unpacking were done by dorm mistresses and each student were sorted in real quick and the lesson commences immediately.

Morgan walked into the class looking all cheerful and the students welcome her back to another session. She picked up the sheet and called their attendance.

"Samantha is absent? Has anyone seen her during the week?" She asked.

The class went silent and then she continued calling. Moments later, she was done.

"So, here now. We have a new student." She announced.

"I know we'll always have a new student. Have you seen the guy in class four? They said he is cute." Violet whispered to the girl in front.

"Can you just shut up already, scholarship? Who knows maybe this one too is your family." Vanessa replied angrily hardly looking back at Violet.

"That hurts." She replied.

They all focused their attention at the entrance. And then, she walked in. Looking elegant. All gazes were shifted to her. She is dark. Had a green iris which is rare. She had her dress tailored. And she ridiculously look like a model in school uniform. All the guys in the class exclaimed silently and Malthus just looked on.

"Class, this is...Michaela. She is from Dalton."

"Dalton? She is definitely a scholarship." One of the students whispered.

"Why?"

"Dalton is a small town." The other replied.

"Oh, I see!"

"Such a shame!" Violet remarked dissatisfactorily.

"She'll be staying with us henceforth." Morgan. announced." Can we make room for her please?" She requested.

"Is she scholarship as well?" Luciana asked mockingly.

"Yes Lucy. She is." Morgan replied reluctantly.

"Well, that makes three of us. Right? Marcus?" Violet asked facing Marcus. The latter just looked away.

"She can't sit here." Scarlett objected.

"Can she sit among the guys?" Ryan asked jokingly and the class laughed.

"That's enough. That's not the best way to welcome someone into your midst." Morgan corrected.

"She is definitely not welcome here." Scarlett argued.

"But she is here now. Can we just behave?" Arabella said and the class went silent. She is the only daughter of The state President. And always overall best student. She always has eyes for Malthus. Or so does the student say.

"Thanks Arabella." Morgan accorded.

"She can sit here. Samantha is not in yet." Violet said pointing to the desk beside her.

Michaela walked briskly to the pointed desk and sit quietly.

"Hey! I'm Violet." She introduced.

"Michaela." She answered.

"Whaoo! You do have a nice voice to compliment your beauty." She assigned.

"Thanks." Michaela answered, showing no interest in the conversation.

"I learnt you're a scholarship. This place will be like paradise in hell for you. You need to brace yourself." She advised.

"Of course." Michaela simply said.

Malthus shifted his attention from the board to where Micahela was sitting and so does Ryan and his three amigos.

"She is a pity." Ryan retorted.

"Maybe not. Who knows. She has the look though." Poppy complimented.

"Don't say that to Arabella's face." Ryan replied mockingly.

"Can't be better."

"Can you concentrate here please Ryan?" Morgan called.

Throughout the lesson, Courtney was whining. And Isla keeps on making her calm.

"Do we have a problem, Courtney?" Theresa asked.

"I need to see Principal George."

"You can see her after my lesson. I really don't appreciate you whining in my class and distracting my students attention. And besides I'm on the verge of introducing the new student joining us here. Come in." She beckoned and all eyes were turned towards the direction. And there he is. He walked in with his guitar strapped to his back. The girls in class stared hard at him and the boys started murmuring.

"Yeah, I know Ophelia is gone already." Artemis spits.

And the class laughed. Ophelia shot a devilish look at him.

"His name is Oliver. Oliver Robert." Theresa announced.

"As in Rob and sons? Samantha's Dad?" Courtney was bewildered.

"Of course." Theresa replied.

"With all due respect, this is all lie. Samantha is his only child. Where did thing comes from?" She retorted expecting the rest of the class to go with her speech but they were all looking at her.

"Aren't you all going to say something?" She bawled. None of them replied, not even Isla.

"There is nothing wrong here Court. I'm sure you didnt belong to the Rob family. I don't know how you knew Samantha is the only child. We only know what we were told." Marlowe fired at her.

"Really? Is this some joke? Is that you Marlowe asking me question? I don't blame you. We already have enough scholarship urchins up in the depth of this school, we hardly recognize the new ones. I'm complaining to the board. It's not your fault. He strapped guitar to his back looking like apollo god of the sun, you've all lost your mind." She said angrily and made for the door. She almost crush Oliver to the ground before darting out of the class. All the students started murmuring angrily.

"Can I follow her please Miss Theresa?" Isla requested.

"Of course. Go, calm her nerves down." She said and Isla walked out of the class. Oliver was asked to sit beside Ethan.

Isla ran as fast as her legs could carry to catch up with Courtney who had almost gotten to the school cafeteria.

"What is wrong with you Court?" Isla demanded angrily.

"What is wrong with me you asked? Is that even a question?" She fired back.

"You can't just be talking like that to our new student."

"Your new student? Really Isle? Really? He has gotten over your head as well? Just like he has done to all of them? Did you see how Ophelia stared at him? Artemis was hurt. Is that how all of you will be doing? Falling for him while leaving your boyfriend to......."

"I don't have a boyfriend, alright?" Isla cuts in angrily.

"Great. Of course."

"Just try and behave yourself Court."

"Why? And for what? For him to have interest in me? You think I like that kind of bullshit you're all into?"

"This is no bullshit."

"You know what? I can't believe this is you right now."

"You need to get back to class. I'm sure Theresa won't take it lightly with you."

"Hell! I care?" She spitted.

"You're coming with me." Isla said as she held her hand down to the class.

The time ticked, and Morgan left the class. Violet faced Michaela who was busy packing loads of books in her bag.

"You really do love reading. With all these books." She said examining the remainings on the desk.

"Most of these books belong to my father." She replied.

"Is he a bookworm?"

"Can't say much. He just loves reading." She answered.

Violet moved real quick closed to her and tried whispering.

"You won't need all those books Mick. Here, once you came in through scholarship, you don't have a say in anything. Just study for your own sake and get the hell out. No one cares."

"I'm not trying to make a name Violet. I'm just trying to be me." Michaela answered her with a smile.

"Oh! Alright then. Did you know your dorm already?"

"Yea. Assigned to Miss Faye."

"Oh! That's my dorm. You can't be given the opportunity to stay with those big girls. We were always assigned to either Miss Faye or Denise. That's the rule."

"I think I know the rules Violet. Thanks alot." She called off the conversation.

Malthus plugged in his headphones and put on music. He rested his head on the back of his desk and hum to the music. Arabella was trying as much as possible to shift her gaze away from him but she couldn't.

She has developed the feelings for him right when they were in class two and he didn't seems to be interested in anything than his headphones. He had no friend. The only one he always talk to once in a while in class is Denver. And Denver is the kind that doesn't talk in class as well. It is either he is busy scribbling on his book, or skimming through the school historical journal.

Arabella shifted her gaze away. She knew she is way above him in everything and he has little friends but she didn't mind. She just want to get close to him. And now.... when she shifted her gaze, Michaela is already looking at him. Suddenly, she felt pang of anger. She is beautiful, she admitted that. But she doesn't want to compete with anyone when it comes to Malthus. But the situation now, leave her with no choice. She already has a competitor. Though, she might be scholarship urchin, she knew she is way prettier than her and Malthus, she doesn't know his type of girl.

Micahela just won't stop staring at him. She had waited centuries in caves just awaiting his arrival. And now he is, right beside her in the same class. She is going to wait and look after him just as she had been doing since his birth. She want her sister, Calliope back and restoring their empire. If she is going to wait centuries again to bring him back home, then she'll do it.

As she was busy reminiscing, Arabella walked up to her.

"Hi!" She greeted calmly.

Violet was the first to look up.

"Oh! Hi." She answered.

"I wasn't greeting you Violet." She responded.

"Oh! Of course."

"Hi Michaela." She greeted again.

"Hello."

"I'm Arabella."

"Michaela." She simply said.

"Friends?" She demanded stretching her hands forward for shaking. All the attention were rested on them now except for Malthus who had his headphones on.

"Is this some jokes?" Vanessa spotted.

"Or some kind of prank?" Luciana added.

"Or maybe she is lesbian." Scarlett whispered.

"Hell no. We all know she is into Mal. But what's all this?" Luciana retorted.

"Of course. Friends." Michaela answered, accepting her outstretched hand.

Violet was dumbfounded so was the rest of the class.

Arabella knew the best way to fight the enemy, was to draw them closer. That was what her father had taught her.
