C11 First Day of Work 6

After the male assistant hung up the phone, Xu Qianqian was left standing there, feeling utterly bewildered. She glanced at the building she had just arrived at and then at Director Huang beside her, feeling an overwhelming urge to strangle someone.

"I'm really sorry, but I think I left something at the restaurant. Why don't you head back first? My office is nearby, and I can just grab a cab," Xu Qianqian said awkwardly, tucking a strand of her smooth hair behind her ear.

As she did so, Director Huang couldn't help but swallow hard, noticing her fair, porcelain-like skin. With a smile, he said, "It seems I don't have the honor. Take care on your way, Secretary Xu. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. I'm always at your service."

Xu Qianqian chuckled awkwardly, nodded apologetically, and quickly headed back to the restaurant to pick up the takeout.

What on earth is Leng Yechen up to? She had just left the restaurant! And if Director Huang found out she was fetching steak for Leng Yechen, wouldn't he be furious?

With a sigh, Xu Qianqian thought to herself how tough it was to be a newbie in the workplace, especially as someone's secretary. It was a complete mess.

Soon, Xu Qianqian arrived at Leng Yechen's office with the steaming steak in hand. Sunlight streamed through the anti-glare windows, casting a mature, dignified aura over Leng Yechen as he sat at his desk. His chiseled jawline resembled a Greek sculpture, and his focused expression was so striking that it was hard to look away.

There was no denying that when Leng Yechen was serious, he had a unique charm. No wonder so many girls had chased after him back in school.

Recalling the tales of Leng Yechen's school days, Xu Qianqian bit her lip unconsciously, lowered her head, and gently placed the steak on the nearby table. "Director Leng, I've set your lunch here. Remember to eat when you have a moment."

After speaking, Xu Qianqian left his office, gently closing the door behind her. As she exited, Leng Yechen's dark eyes lifted, landing on the elegantly packaged steak, bringing a touch of warmth to his expression. She hadn't mentioned it, but he was indeed hungry. Yet, hadn't he asked his male assistant to handle the takeout?

Suddenly, as if realizing something, Leng Yechen let out a cold chuckle. Isn't this just how the workplace operates? Newcomers always get pushed around by the veterans, especially when they're favored by the boss.

While chewing on the medium-rare steak, Leng Yechen glanced at Xu Qianqian outside the door, contemplating how to deal with her. No one would have guessed that the president of XS Company was more focused on pranking his own secretary than on making money or enjoying himself.

Suddenly, Xu Qianqian's desk phone rang. She looked up to see Leng Yechen's extension on the display and quickly answered, "Hello, Director Leng."

"The steak today was delicious, thank you," Leng Yechen said before hanging up, leaving Xu Qianqian puzzled and bewildered.

Why did she feel like she had done something wrong? Sure enough, across from her, the male assistant was glaring at her with such intensity it seemed he wanted to devour her.

Uh-oh, she must have messed up!

"I... I'll explain to Director Leng that you reminded me about the steak..."

"No need. It's rare for Director Leng to enjoy your steak so much, why spoil it?" The male assistant sneered, his eyes filled with disdain as he looked at Xu Qianqian.

Trying to climb the ladder with her looks? She should really compare herself to others! There are famous actresses, young and beautiful, with fans who could drown her with a single spit; and then there's the renowned debutante from H City, with a powerful family background, completely out of this shameless woman's league.

"Hmph, this woman doesn't know her limits. He definitely won't let her off the hook!"

Watching the male assistant leave, Xu Qianqian sighed and rubbed her forehead, thinking to herself, "Is this male assistant for real? How can he be so petty?"

Initially, he had asked her to bring a steak for Leng Yechen, but after she did, he complained that she stole his credit!

Could it be that Leng Yechen only said such things to her? Did he specifically call to thank her?

Xu Qianqian was puzzled. It was just a steak, and she had the receipt for reimbursement. Why would Leng Yechen go out of his way to call her? The previous male assistant must have brought him lunch plenty of times before, right?

The more Xu Qianqian thought about it, the more her head hurt. Eventually, she decided to stop overthinking and focused on checking the upcoming flights.

Being a secretary sure was comfortable for her. Since Leng Yechen's company was involved in airport construction and aircraft purchases, he had a private jet at his disposal for business trips. This meant she didn't have to worry about booking flights.

After leaving his desk, the male assistant didn't go anywhere else but headed straight to the office, especially the one with the most women.
