C12 First Day of Work 7

"Wow, are you serious? The new secretary is really that bold, openly flirting with Director Leng?"

"Is she clueless? Doesn't she know Director Leng is picky about women? Even if you're a model or a celebrity, he might not be interested. Where does she get that confidence?"

"Well, she's got a great figure. You should see her; she's practically got a model's body."

"She seems like a sly fox. I can't believe Director Leng even noticed her."

"There's more to it than you think. She was probably recommended by Director Zhang from HR. Who knows what kind of backdoor dealings are going on?"

"Zhang Nan doesn't seem trustworthy either. Best to keep your distance."

A single comment from the male assistant caused quite a stir at XS Company. The gossip spread quickly, and within minutes, the story of Xu Qianqian openly flirting with Director Leng was all over the office.

In his office, Leng Yechen crossed his arms, watching the surveillance video of the women gossiping about Xu Qianqian. A slow smile crept onto his face. He anticipated an interesting turn of events soon. His male assistant had really hit the mark.

The assistant had no idea that his actions had caught Leng Yechen's attention and even made him feel like the assistant was helping him out.

Before long, a sharp-faced woman, quick as a monkey, marched up to Xu Qianqian's desk, slamming a pile of documents down. "How are you handling things as the new secretary? There are issues with these reimbursements. Check them thoroughly before submitting."

Staring at the stack of reimbursement forms, Xu Qianqian was stunned. Some of the receipts were dated as far back as 2012. Good grief, what kind of ancient relics were these?

Xu Qianqian stood up, clutching the 2012 receipt, and hurried out, only to bump into a man at the door.

"Ouch... that hurt!" she muttered, rubbing her head. But when she saw the man in front of her, she quickly straightened up and smiled. "Hello, who are you here to see?"

The man was dressed in a light blue checkered shirt, casually unbuttoned at the collar. His style was simple yet elegant, with an indescribable charm, like a prince who had just tossed aside his evening attire after a lavish night out.

Even though she knew he was likely there to see Director Leng, Xu Qianqian politely asked just in case. "You must be the new Secretary Xu, right? Hi, I'm Xie Shaowen. I'm here to see Director Leng," he said with a gentle smile that made Xu Qianqian feel warm inside.

What a handsome man, and his smile was so gentle.

Most of the men in the company, influenced by their environment, had smiles that carried a hint of rivalry or hidden motives. But Xie Shaowen's smile was pure, like a clear lake, too pristine to disturb.

"Please wait a moment, I'll let Director Leng know you're here," Xu Qianqian said, turning to press the intercom.

Meanwhile, Xie Shaowen gently took the 2012 receipt from her fingers and raised an eyebrow. "This bill again?"

Again? Does that mean this bill often has issues?

"I'm sorry, it seems the company's finance department is giving you a hard time. Since Director Leng is on his lunch break, I'll wait a bit before going in," Xie Shaowen said with a warm smile, taking the intercom from her and dialing the finance director's extension.

Soon, a steady yet refined voice answered, "Hello, this is Ma Tao."

"Is it Mr. Ma? Here's the thing, it seems there might be an error in your accounting. The paperwork is currently on the desk of our new secretary, Ms. Xu. Could you send someone over to help her sort it out when you have a moment?" Xie Shaowen maintained a gentle smile, his calm demeanor putting Xu Qianqian at ease.

She was pleasantly surprised to receive such support so soon after joining the company.

Mr. Ma was efficient. Before long, an accountant arrived at Xu Qianqian's desk, wiping his brow and ready to take the stack of documents away.

"Hold on," Xie Shaowen interjected, raising a 2012 invoice. "I didn't realize our accounting department was so sentimental, keeping invoices from 2012. Quite nostalgic, aren't we?"

His tone carried a hint of sarcasm.

The accountant, unfazed, replied, "Director Xie, these documents are kept because the IRS requires us to retain records for over five years."

Director Xie?

Xu Qianqian's eyes widened slightly. So, this man was a leader in the company too? It seemed she needed to ask Zhang Nan for a company directory.
