C6 Suspicious Phone Part 1

I took my son's hand and entered my husband's office. Several people who passed us on the ground floor greeted me. Naturally, they know me because I often come to this office. Even though since Rory started school, I rarely come here anymore.

Some teased my son, saying my son was handsome, intelligent, adorable, and other compliments when we entered the elevator.

Our destination is, of course, the 5th floor where the branch General Manager's room that my husband occupies is located.

Rory and I waved at the same time to several employees in the same elevator when we arrived on the 5th floor, saying goodbye kindly because they also treated us kindly, especially my son.

We arrived right in front of my husband's room. I smiled broadly at Lucy, my husband's secretary, who had risen from her chair to welcome me and Rory.

"Mrs. Andrea, my goodness ... it's been a long time since we've seen each other? How are you?" She asked excitedly. Lucy and I were quite close. She is five years younger than me. And I swear she's a lovely woman to talk to.

"I'm fine, how about you?"

"That's fine, Mrs. Wow... Rory is big now, isn't he? More handsome, like Mr. Rafael." she said again. I only smiled this time. I let Lucy do whatever she wanted, gently kissing Rory's adorable cheeks.

"Is my husband in there?"

Lucy, who had crouched down to match Rory's height, quickly stood up as soon as the question left my mouth. Then she nodded vigorously after that.

"Yes, Mr. Rafael is inside," she replied.

"Then we'll go inside first."

"Yes, Mrs, please. Bye, Rory." She said while waving at Rory. I am grateful for having a son who has a good personality and is fun. My son innocently joined in, waving his hand at Lucy with a smile that faithfully spread on his little face.

I opened the door of the room without knocking first. Only I can do that impudent act in this world, considering that my husband is the leader in this branch. Of course, all employees here respect him so much.

Rafael was stunned. His head was looking down, and he suddenly looked up when he heard the door to his room being broken into by me.

He widened his eyes, maybe surprised to see us coming because I didn't tell him I was coming here. I take our visit as a big surprise for him.

"Daddy!!" shouted Rory. He ran to his father and then sat on his father's lap. I just smiled at the sight again.

"Daddy's hotshot has come home from school, it turns out. How was your school today?"

"Exciting. I drew a lot today."

"Good, Daddy's hero must be the smartest at drawing it."

Rory laughed happily because the praise came smoothly from his father's mouth.

"Sorry, we came suddenly. Rory whined to come here."

Of course, what I'm saying is an excuse because I was the one who wanted to come here. As for Rory, he would follow me wherever I asked him to go. In my heart, I apologized to my son for using himself as an excuse to lie.

"It's OK. I'm glad you came. This place isn't as quiet as a cemetery anymore." He said, looking sincere. I tilted my head, my lips curved into a smile.

I rolled my eyes, looking around the room. The black sofa that I chose before is still here. Some paintings I deliberately put on the wall as decoration in this room still look pretty perched. It's still the same as where I put the pictures. The small frame containing the photo of the three of us I placed on Rafael's desk was still in the same position. The point is that nothing has changed about this room since the last time I visited it, almost a year ago.

I sat on the black couch, focusing my gaze on Rafael, who was refocusing on his laptop, and Rory, who was still faithfully sitting on his father's lap. The child is not naughty. He watches how his father works. It's so sweet to see that sight. Never stop being grateful because the relationship between the two of them is very close.

I took a magazine lying alone on the table to eliminate boredom. Then I opened it and read the contents, which was all about the boring business world for me.

"Mom, I need to go to the toilet."

My attention from the magazine in my hand was diverted as my son's voice penetrated my eardrums. I saw Rory grimacing. I just remembered that he had been whining to urinate since the taxi earlier. How can I forget this?

"Yes dear, you just go to the toilet. You know the toilet right? It's close from here."

Rafael glared at me when he heard these words. It was clear he didn't like hearing them.

"Honey, are you seriously telling Rory to go to the toilet alone?" he asked, one eyebrow raised high. I nod because that's the truth. I teach my son to live independently. I know he can go to the toilet himself.

"Yeah, how could I go into the men's restroom."

"But you can just go to the women's restroom." The answer still needs to be received.

"Like your child just wants to pee in the women's toilet."

"I don't want to pee in the women's toilet, I'm a man, not a woman," Rory answered smartly. I secretly smiled triumphantly.

From this couch, I can hear Rafael's voice exhaling roughly.

"Let Daddy take you to the toilet. Wake up." Finally, he gave in. Rory rushed down from his lap, followed by Rafael, who got up.

"I'll take him to the toilet first." I only replied with a nod.

I STARTED MY INVESTIGATION when I saw Rafael and Rory disappear behind the door. This is a golden opportunity that I should use wisely.

I rushed to Rafael's desk. I checked the documents scattered on the table. Examine any documents that I find suspicious, as well as hope that from one of the documents, I can find someone with the initials ZK whose real identity I want to know.

I went to the drawer when I found nothing strange in the documents.

One by one, I opened the drawers. I swore at that instant when I found all the drawers locked. OK, as usual, Rafael is always thorough.

Moving from the drawer, I aim to have the iron safe placed right in the left corner of the room. Even though I thought the safe must be locked, I tried my luck by opening it.

"Shit, of course, he must have locked it." I cursed in annoyance even though I knew this was how it would end.

I know his habits after 17 years of living around Rafael Brandon. He's the one who always keeps his important stuff in a drawer or safe. So while the drawers and safe are locked even though he's in this room, something that Rafael kept in that drawer and secured must be very important, maybe also a secret he hid from me.

Why am I thinking like this? The answer was easy: he took the keys to all the drawers because I was in this room. I visited this office often, and he usually put the keys to all his drawers in the little box he kept near his laptop. And look, the box is empty now, with no key in there.

"So you are hiding something from me. You son of a bitch."

I swore again and didn't care, even if anyone might hear it.
