C8 Investigation Begins Part 1

Rafael returned to his office after lunch while Rory and I went home. I can't bear to see my son tired. Even though I wanted to investigate something in Rafael's office, I finally brought Rory home.

When I got home, I accompanied Rory to sleep in his room. He was used to taking naps. It didn't take long for him to fall asleep soundly. I took advantage of this condition to check my email, hoping that a message from Lucy had arrived.

I shut myself in my room when I opened the email. And when I saw that the message I was waiting for from Lucy had already arrived, I smiled broadly that very second. I was relieved because Lucy was willing to grant my request to send the data of all employees working in my husband's office.

I opened the message with my heart beating wildly. I was scared that my suspicions about Rafael having an affair would be true. Even more than anything, I want to immediately reveal the identity of a person with the initials ZK who was lucky to get an expensive necklace gift from Rafael.

After the list of names was displayed in front of my eyes, I read the names listed in the message as carefully as possible.

I saw the names of all the workers in Rafael's office individually, anticipating that I would not miss someone with the initials ZK. But no matter how thoroughly I searched for the initial name, I needed help finding it among the 74 employee names in this message.

I reread it, afraid I passed it earlier. However, the results still need to be corrected. No one has the initial ZK.

I sighed tiredly, leaning my back on the head of the bed. Could my suspicions be wrong? I'm looking for someone other than the employees at Rafael's office. OK, I stopped looking at the list of names and chose to rest my body for a while because I'm so tired today.

Even though this time it failed, I will only stop investigating once I find that woman—the woman who managed to steal my husband's attention.

As usual, Rafael arrived home at 7 p.m. There was nothing suspicious about his behavior. As long as Rory is not sleeping, he will play with Rory. But their playing activities didn't last long tonight. He reasoned that he had to attend an important meeting tomorrow, so he went to his office. He was busying himself with piles of documents he deliberately brought from the office.

When he said he'd be staying up late tonight to check the reports, I got nothing but a nod. I've always understood his condition. Isn't this the duty of a wife? She tries to understand her husband's busy life even though he should be home. All his time is devoted to us, his family.

Precisely at 10 p.m., I brought snacks and coffee for Rafael. When I entered his office, I was sure he wasn't lying. He was indeed busy with the reports he had to check. He didn't even touch his cell phone lying on the table.

"Here's coffee and snacks for you. Take a rest if you're tired."

Rafael turns his head as my voice echoes in his ear. He nodded and smiled sweetly at me.

"Yes, honey, thank you. You haven't slept yet?" Rafael asked.

"It's just about to sleep. I sleep first. Don't sleep too late."

"OK, it'll be over soon anyway."

I rubbed his back gently before I stepped out of his office. I only want to be there briefly because I will only disturb him.

Upon arrival, I tried to lay my body on the bed. I repeatedly tried to close my eyes but failed because my mind could not let go of the incident this afternoon. The incident was when Rafael picked up the phone from someone who made him look so happy.

Who exactly called him this afternoon? I want to ask Rafael directly to Rafael, but I doubt he will answer honestly. So I decided to investigate it myself later when Rafael was asleep.

Exactly midnight. I heard the sound of the bedroom door opening. There is no need to turn around. I know that it was Rafael who entered. I haven't slept because the image of what happened earlier that day kept ringing.

But, when I heard Rafael climb into our bed, I pretended to close my eyes so he thought I was fast asleep. My position is now back to Rafael, not wanting to make him suspicious of me, so this is the correct position to avoid him.

My whole body got goosebumps when he suddenly hugged me from behind. He put his face on my neck, making me tingle with amusement, but I still closed my eyes as much as possible.

After that, I felt him gently stroking the top of my head, combing my long, messy hair on the pillow, and tucking my hair out of my face. I also felt clear when his fingers traced the curves of my face—rubbing it slowly as if afraid that the slightest rough movement would hurt my face.

Finally, he kissed the top of my head and ended by kissing my forehead gently. Judging from this sweet treatment, I thought I was too suspicious of my husband. Perhaps I am the only woman in his life.

But I don't know. The necklace with the initials ZK that I found in her bag and the incident this afternoon at the restaurant have shaken my trust in her again. Looks like I really won't be able to live in peace before uncovering the truth.

Rafael changed my sleeping position very slowly until I was facing him. Even though my eyes were still closed, I knew he was looking at my face. Not long after, I felt him hold my hand and then kiss the back of my hand like he often does when I'm awake.

His action of suddenly moving my head to lean on his broad chest made me shocked. But I could continue my play after all this treatment. I still closed my eyes as tight as possible.

"I love you, Andrea." He whispered very softly, but my ears could still hear him.

Was he whispering this? Am I still the only woman he loves? I want to ask him this right now. But my tongue feels numb. Stupidly, I still pretended to be asleep.
