C2 Angeline's Premonition

Bryan and Angeline looked panicked, even though Jason had received swift treatment from the doctor and several nurses. Yes, how not to panic? They were happy with laughter, then suddenly Jason vomited blood.

Angeline's heart seemed to be forcibly taken from its place, making the woman pale over time. Meanwhile, Bryan was still standing with an equally anxious look.

They waited for the doctor who was examining Jason. The one hope that Bryan and Angeline held on to was that their only son would be okay.

"With Jason's parents?" asked Dr. Matthew.

Angeline and Bryan immediately nodded. Both looked briefly at Jason who seemed to have calmed down. Their son was asleep after crying all the way in the car.

"Can you come to my office for a moment?" Dr. Matthew directed the two parents of his patient out of the emergency area.

"Why don't you explain it here?" Angeline had her legs nailed together so she couldn't go anywhere.

It was strange that they had to follow the doctor, even though Angeline saw the other doctor talking to the patient's guardian in the emergency area.

Dr. Matthew turned around and just smiled. With a gesture, he asked Bryan to take Angeline to his office.

"Let's follow, dear. I'm sure there will be nothing alarming about Jason's condition," Bryan said, calming his wife.

The man's hand gently rubbed the top of Angeline's head. It was clear that his wife was now a little shaken and was starting to think about the unknown.

Bryan actually felt the same way, but he had to remain calm. Don't let yourself get carried away and end up not behaving well in this hospital, especially since the doctor again asked him and Angeline to enter a room.

Angeline was getting nervous. The all-white atmosphere around her seemed to be intimidating. Therefore, Angeline held Bryan's hand as they sat next to each other with Dr. Matthew in front of them.

"How long has Jason been vomiting blood like that?" asked Dr. Matthew as he opened the laptop on the table and seemed to be typing something.

Bryan looked at Angeline, because his wife would know better. Angeline had lived with Jason since the boy was a baby, while he had only been around recently.

"Before... Jason never vomited blood like that," Angeline replied without hesitation, but her voice sounded a little shaky.

Angeline's gut feeling told her something was wrong. She didn't want to be a know-it-all, but Dr. Matthew's look was more serious than ever.

"Does Jason get sick easily?" Dr. Matthew asked again.

Angeline half-consciously nodded. "Yes. Jason catches colds and fevers very easily. In a month's time, there will be times when Jason gets sick."

Next to Angeline, Bryan swallowed. About that, he had been told before. Angeline had told him everything about Jason, including how their son's health condition was not like other children.

Angeline was thrown when Jason was one year old. Her son also often experienced shortness of breath. At that time Angeline had made every effort to treat Jason and the results were satisfactory.

Symptoms of shortness of breath never appeared again. However, Jason's health condition has slowly declined since then.

"When I examined Jason, his breathing pattern was irregular," Dr. Matthew murmured.

Angeline looked up at the doctor. Her body felt even more rigid. Bryan, who was next to her, turned his head, realizing that his wife's tears were beginning to well up.

"Calm down. Jason is fine," Bryan said, trying to comfort Angeline.

"The pupils of his right and left eyes are not exactly the same size," added Dr. Matthew. He took off his glasses and showed her what he had been working on on the laptop screen.

"From all the physical symptoms, it looks like Jason will have to do further tests. I suspect that Mr. and Mrs.'s son has a serious illness," said Dr. Matthew.

The tears that Angeline had been holding back finally fell. She squeezed Bryan's hand that had been holding it.

"What do you mean, Doc? Jason never showed any symptoms that he was seriously ill!" Angeline argued unacceptably.

"Fever in close proximity is not to be underestimated, ma'am." Dr. Matthew looked at Angeline and Bryan in turn.

"We will do a follow-up examination. Therefore, I recommend that Jason be transferred to the inpatient ward," he added seriously.

Bryan immediately nodded. He thought they should take the right action to find out what Jason's illness was. He did not wait for Angeline's approval.

"Our son is not sick." Angeline cried, still wanting to deny everything Dr. Matthew had said.

"We have to accept the truth, dear. Jason is sick. If our son was fine, how could he have vomited blood like that." Bryan hugged his wife without hesitation.

"That's good thinking, sir. You can count on it," Dr. Matthew praised Bryan for his quick self-control.

"So what do you think, Doc? What illness does our son have?" asked Bryan, still not letting go of Angeline's hand.

"I suspect Jason has neuroblastoma." Dr. Matthew said seriously as he showed some symptoms from his online journal.

Angeline stared uncomprehendingly. Her brain, which was filled with all kinds of worries over Jason's condition, could not properly digest the medical language on the laptop screen. Suddenly, Angeline's head hurt a lot.

"This is one of the rare diseases." Then Dr. Matthew explained briefly.

The neuroblastoma that Dr. Matthew refers to is indeed one of the rare diseases that usually affects children under the age of five. The disease can be recognized by several physical symptoms such as lumps and so on.

Bryan listened intently, while Angeline stayed where she was with her body still. Guilt crept into her heart.

Did Jason get sick because of her? Why did she not do a further examination when she knew that Jason was often sick?

Angeline felt that she was a bad mother. The woman's life didn't seem to merge with her body, so Angeline didn't realize that she and Bryan had left Dr. Matthew's room.

"We will try everything. The doctor is also determined to cure Jason. Don't worry," Bryan murmured, trying to paint a smile when Angeline looked at him.

"I'm sorry. I was... a bad mother to our son. Really, I'm sorry." Angeline cried again, but this time more painfully than before.

Bryan did not blame her at all, which is why he hugged Angeline so tightly.

"It's not your fault at all. Motherhood is not easy, and you did your best. From now on, we have to be stronger for Jason's sake. Don't show any sadness in front of Jason," Bryan said as he wiped away the tears on Angeline's face.
