C4 Not Giving Up
"Stay here with Jason, I'll find the best hospital so our son can recover as soon as possible." After saying that, Bryan left the hospital with John.
Half an hour ago, John did arrive. Bryan's confidant had to take care of some company meetings. The plan was to postpone the meeting with important people until the day after tomorrow on Bryan's orders.
"Hide this information from everyone else," Bryan told Jhon.
"Okay, I see what you mean," replied John, who was focused on driving.
They were alone together. Bryan really didn't want his son's condition to be known by outsiders. He just didn't want his family to be in the public eye.
A bitter condition like this was not a good thing to watch and talk about, especially since Angeline's condition was not good at all after hearing the explanation from Dr. Matthew.
"Where are we going?" John asked. Bryan had not said where they were going.
At that question, Bryan blinked. Then he mentioned a few hospitals that they would stop at.
On the way, Bryan's cell phone rang. There was an incoming call from Angeline.
"Hello, sweetheart?" Bryan greeted her first. He did everything he could to keep his voice from sounding garbled.
"Jason wants to talk to you," Angeline said, looking at her son.
Moments ago Jason had asked about Bryan's whereabouts. The boy complained that his father had left without saying goodbye. Angeline also revealed this, making Bryan immediately chuckle a little.
"Dad ...." Jason's voice came over the phone. Bryan deliberately raised his voice so John could hear it too.
Just then, the car John was driving pulled up to a large hospital. They didn't get out because they had to hear Jason's babble first.
"Dad will be home tonight. Then let's play together," Bryan said after Jason told him how bored he was at the hospital.
Across the room, Jason's eyes lit up. He had a big smile on his face, indicating that he was happy and couldn't wait for his father's return.
"I'll wait for you!" said Jason with an excited sentence.
"Yes, you do have to wait for me. When I come back, I'll bring good news for you and Mom. Wait, yes."
The phone line was disconnected. In his chair, John was silent. He occasionally sighed and rubbed his face in an uneasy motion.
"I'm sure there will be results." John was so optimistic that Bryan curved a smile and nodded.
They got out of the car and entered the first hospital on the list. Bryan had previously made an appointment, so they were easily able to get into the room of a doctor who had a lot of experience with cancer.
"So what happens if my son doesn't find the right treatment?" Bryan asked after a long discussion.
The doctor looked at Bryan first. The trust in the man's eyes did not fade, even though the doctor had said earlier that he did not promise a cure.
"Then the cancer cells will spread soon. You see, sir, some of the major hospitals in this city still don't have the full facilities to cure your son's disease."
Jhon looked at Bryan. The excitement that had been building up was gone in an instant. They had been convinced that Jason could be transferred to this hospital and would get proper and quick treatment.
"So what should we do, Doc?" Bryan felt desperate.
"You can look elsewhere, and I'll do the same. I will contact some of my friends who are doctors by profession. I'm sure something will come of this," said the doctor, not wanting to make Bryan feel any worse for wear.
For the next 15 minutes, they were still talking in the room. Eventually, Bryan and Jhon walked out of the room.
"Don't give up yet, we still have four hospitals to go to." Jhon patted the shoulder of his friend and superior.
Bryan straightened up. He was right. He couldn't give up. He nodded and made his way to the basement. The journey would soon resume with the same hope that they would find a hospital that could help Jason recover.
While in another hospital, precisely in Jason's hospitalization room, Angeline was reading a fairy tale from a book that Bryan had brought from home.
Jason listens as his mother tells him about a family of dinosaurs. In the next minute, Jason feels bored again. Today his body is also weaker than before. Jason, who is still a child, of course does not understand that he is sick.
"Mom, let's go home," Jason asked, putting away the book in Angeline's hand.
Angeline only smiled at that. Not immediately answering, she first rubbed her son's face. The physical characteristics of Jason's cancer were again visible. The eye area darkened, while the rest of the skin looked paler.
Sighing, Angeline climbed onto the bed and sat in front of Jason. She then said, "Wait a little longer because Father has some happy news for both of us."
Jason looked at Angeline. In his mind, the happy news was about ice cream and toys. That's why Jason nodded and said he couldn't wait for Bryan's arrival.
Angeline's smile was printed so thinly. She lovingly stroked the top of Jason's head. They continued to talk and Angeline was still trying hard to distract Jason who sometimes said he wanted to go home.
Until eight o'clock at night, Bryan finally returned alone. Angeline, who had been waiting, immediately approached him and smiled broadly. Angeline really thought that her husband had some good news to share.
"How did it go? Which hospital can treat Jason? When are we leaving? Tomorrow morning or afternoon?" Angeline asked in such an enthusiastic tone that she didn't notice the look on Bryan's face.
"I'm sorry," Bryan muttered, holding Angeline's shoulder. "I failed to find the right hospital. All the doctors say that there is no treatment in this city that we can use to make Jason well," he added with a great deal of guilt.
Angeline was stunned. Swallowing, she nodded resignedly and slipped into Bryan's arms. Now Angeline wasn't crying like before, but her hands were clenched tightly.
"I promise I won't give up here. I will do everything for the recovery of our child. Please be a little patient and stay with me," Bryan pleaded with his eyes heating up and in the end he burst into tears.
Now it was Angeline's turn to soothe. Their tiredness and despair had to be put aside right then and there. Let Bryan cry tonight, but tomorrow, he will be back in full force to find all kinds of information for Jason's recovery.
