C3 Chapter 3

“Did you have to fire her?” As they walked towards the elevator, Jack asked of Cameron.

“You know I don’t like people like her; people who want to do less work while making a lot of money. I despise people like her, and I don’t want to bring it up again. She’s fired, and that’s the end of it.” He replied Jack as he walked forward faster, not looking back.

As he approached the elevator, a cleaner who was rolling a cleaning cart through the corridors had some of the cleaning items fall to the ground. When she saw Cameron approaching, she rushed to pick them up.

Mr. Jack rushed to her aid, prompting Cameron to scoff at them both as he continued his walk to the elevator.

“Are you coming or not, Mr. Jack?” He directed at Jack after the elevator opened, and he walked over quickly.

Cameron gave him a berating look after they got into the elevator and Jack had pressed the button for where they were going.

“She has a hand, so I’m not sure why you’re helping her. I mean, she’s only doing her job, just as you should only focus on yours.” As they stepped out of the elevator, he chided Jack.

“Yes, sir.” Jack replied calmly, trying to swallow his words so as not to irritate him.

As Cameron approached the main office, where the majority of staff members were, everyone rushed to their seats and began working right away, or at least pretended to. He glanced briefly at them as he walked out of the office and towards his car.

A guard quickly ran to open the door to the backseat, waiting till Cameron got in before closing the door, and Jack got into the backseat through the other door. The guard got into the front passenger seat, and the driver started the car and drove out of the premises.

.

The day’s lecture was finished, and the students rushed out of the lecture hall. Two guards were positioned at the front of the lecture hall, and the students passing by stared at them before walking away.

“Midas, do you want to have lunch together?” A female voice addressed a guy who was resting his head on his desk. Aside from the female, Diamond, there was another guy, and they made up Midas’ best and closest friends.

Midas is the Smith family’s last child. He is Mr. Smith’s favorite, the one he cared about the most. A young man in his early twenties, fair-skinned man with a feminine and fragile appearance, soft in heart and appearance. His personality is completely opposite with those of his two older brothers.

He is not a person who can easily deal with stress. When you tell him no, he will not press you to disagree with anything you say to him. He’s someone who listens easily to others and almost always readily agrees to do things for others, but that doesn’t make him a pushover. He is Caring and easygoing, and he, like his brother Byron, wants a free life.

Midas is frequently described as pretty because he has feminine features that make ladies envious and men question their sexuality. He has a slim build and stands at 172 centimeters.

Midas raised his head to look at the guards standing in front of his lecture hall.

He rose from his seat and approached his guards, who were standing at the front of the lecture hall.

He was dressed in a fluffy yellow hoodie, white trousers, and white ankle boots.

“Could you please wait in the car until I’m done with my friends?” In a soft voice, he asked.

The guards nodded and exited the lecture hall, and Midas returned to his friends.

“Wow!” Diamond exclaimed, “I can’t believe you finally opened up to your father. Well, how was his reaction and what was his response?”

She was referring to Midas’ coming out to his father and brother.

{FLASHBACK}

“You want me to believe that?” Mr. Smith questioned Midas, who had his head bowed and was staring at the food in front of him.

They had just sat down at the dining table to have breakfast, when Midas revealed the secret about his sexual orientation. The brothers sat silently at the dining table, waiting for their father’s response, when Mr. Smith abruptly stood up and walked off.

{END OF FLASHBACK}

“You didn’t do anything wrong by coming out to him. Okay, sweetheart? Do not even entertain any negative thoughts.” Diamond spoke to Midas, who had stress written all over his face.

“What do you think he’ll do now that you’ve said he hasn’t said anything since then?” Aiden inquired.

“I… I honestly don’t know, but I’m sure he won’t sit back after hearing that. I blame myself for telling him, after all, I had been keeping it to myself alone; maybe it wasn’t the right time to say it to him yet.” Midas replied sadly.

“Don’t beat yourself over this, okay?” said Aiden, moving closer to hug him.

.

A taxi dropped a lady in front of the Smith’s house, and she was let into the compound. She couldn’t help but admire the house as she looked around.

“You must be the new maid.” A female voice called to her, jolting her out of her daydream.

She turned to see an attractive woman dressed in a uniform that happened to be the uniform for the house workers; standing next to her were two other women dressed in the same uniform.

The newcomer stared mutely before recalling that she had been asked a question.

“Yes… yes. Hello, I’m the new maid.” She responded meekly.

“My name is Chloe and I’m in charge of all the ladies who work for Mr. Cameron. On my right is Luna, who is in charge of all the ladies who work for Mr. Byron, and on my left is Ava, who is in charge of the ladies who look after Midas. Follow me and let me take you to Ma’am Grace first, and then we’ll show you around the house.” Chloe addressed her sternly.

“Who is that, M… Ma’am Grace?” The newcomer stuttered.

“She is the boss of all of us, and she is in charge of the ladies who look after Mr. Smith. Now follow me.” Chloe said, leaving the lady speechless.
