C8 Chapter 8

The bell to a flat was rung, a fair and pretty lady went to check who it was.

“Oh! I thought you said you were going home first,” She said to the visitor at the door.

The visitor at the door was another lady, Iris Wilson, and the flat owner was her childhood friend, Jacqueline.

Iris is in her early twenties, a graduate student, and a heartwarming lady. Anyone could trip for Iris’s beauty and gorgeous figure. The word beauty and elegant could be used to describe her.

Iris was the only child of her parents. Her mother ran a supermarket and her father owned a shop that supplies cement. They were not rich, but also never lacked for anything. Iris is 175 centimeters tall, not too slim but has a great shape and figure that could make any guy trip for her. She has pretty eyes balls and well shave natural eyebrows and massive hair. A fair skin color lady with a dimple and plump natural pink lips.

“I got hired,” Iris said in a dreary tone as she walked to the sofa.

“You got hired and you are down this way, I believe we should throw some party right now,” Jacqueline said to her as she shut the door before walking to where Iris was sitting.

“I wish I knew before applying to that company,” Iris said.

“Which company is that?” She took a seat.

“It’s one of Smith’s company and I already applied before I heard the news that one of Smith’s sons who is a CEO there always fire people the way he wants. I heard he’s so arrogant and rude. I applied to other companies too, but they all declined me. Why? Why was Smith’s company the only one to hire me?” Iris said, feeling stressed.

“I think I understand you now, but Iris, you have been trying to get a job, and now you finally have one. I know you got it at the wrong company and you have a bad temper in which you are thinking that your boss can step on your bad side, but baby girl, invest some patience in yourself. Remember you said, you want to do this just to support your mum and dad. Now think about them and let’s hope for you the best,” Jacqueline comforted her friend.

“I applied for another company again, because this boss may fire me after two hours of me starting my work there. I may lose my temper, Jacqueline. You know I despise guys like them the most, but still, I’ll go,”

“That’s what I’m saying. Give it a try first and let’s see what’s going to happen, but please Iris, can you try to be calm? I think if you are doing your work normally, you shouldn’t have any problem with him, right?” Jacqueline asked.

“I hope so. Please I’m hungry, what did you cook?” She asked as she rose from the sofa, entering the kitchen with Jacqueline behind her.

“I didn’t do a lot of cooking today. Just spaghetti and meatballs. I made some salads too,” Jacqueline said.

.

Iris and her parents sat in the dining room at night to eat dinner together. She was putting on a pink dinner gown that stopped over her thighs, and wore and a pink bandana over her ponytail.

Iris decided to break the news of her new job to them in the middle of their dinner.

“Dad, Mum, I got a new job as a secretary,” She announced.

Her parents’ expressions lightened when she told them the news.

“Congratulations, sweetheart. I’m so happy for you,” her mother said.

“Thank you very much, Mum,” She smiled at her mum.

“Congratulations, dear. When are you to resume?” Her father asked.

“Next week Monday,” Iris replied. The remainder of the dinner was spent talking about random things, and after dinner, she assisted her mother in clearing up the dining room. When she was done, she retired to her room for the night.

She approached her reading table, grabbed her diary to write some notes, and stood up from the table after a few minutes. As she walked towards her bed, she grabbed her phone, read a few messages, then closed her phone and drifted off to dreamland.

.

Midas was standing in front of his room, getting ready to leave for his lecture. Ava and two maids were helping him get ready.

“What color of shoes do you want to wear?” He was asked by Ava.

“I think brown sneakers,” With a smile, he said.

“Since you’re wearing a brown hoodie and brown pants, why don’t you wear black boots instead of sneakers?” suggested Ava.

“Isn’t that a little too dark?” Midas asked.

“Nope! It works well together, and you have a black backpack with you,” Ava added, pointing to his bag, which was in the hands of one of the maids.

“All right,” He replied to her, “I’ll just go with your suggestion.”

.

On getting outside, Midas paused at the sight of Michael in a black suit and sunglasses, standing next to an ash car.

Michael opened the door for him after seeing him walk out, but his pause made him look inside the car to see if there was anything inside.

Midas walked to the side of the car and stood in front of Michael.

“What’s going on? Where are the other guards?” He asked softly.

“It’s just you and I,” Michael responded.

“Just you and I?” Midas gave him a curious look.

“I talked to Mr. Smith and I told him that, I don’t think it’s necessary to have other guards with me. I believe that I’m capable enough to guard you by myself. From now on, it’ll just be you and I,” He explained.

“And my dad allowed that?”

“After you,” Without answering, Michael gestured to him to enter the car.

Midas stared at him for a while before getting into the back seat. The door was closed and Michael got into the driver’s seat and drove to Midas’ school.
