C61 Intimidating

"What did you say?"

Wang Hongling's eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Lin Yin. Could it be true that a boy had the audacity to declare that she, the beautiful and intelligent Miss Wang of the Wang Family, was unworthy of his friendship?

"How dare you! Lin Yin, you're asking for trouble! Do you even understand Miss Wang's standing? I've shown you considerable respect, and yet you have the nerve to say that Miss Wang doesn't deserve your friendship?" Hu Mingren raged.

She couldn't fathom it. Even setting aside her status as Miss Wang, Lin Yin, known for his worthlessness, should have shown her nothing but the utmost respect.

But there he was, brazenly arrogant.

"Lin Yin, you must be a fool," Wang Hongling said, her face flushed with a mix of shame and anger. She let out a cold snort and bit her lip hard.

"Seize this despicable man for me. I intend to discipline him thoroughly!" commanded Wang Hongling with icy authority.

Bang!

The two black-clad guards burst through the door and charged in.

Their pistols were trained on Lin Yin from behind, the barrels less than a meter away.

The men's faces were stoic, their handling of the weapons expert.

"Hmph," Wang Hongling huffed, her gaze icy as she looked at Lin Yin, her shoulders trembling with rage.

"I had hoped to discuss matters civilly with you, but you seem to prefer a death wish," Wang Hongling said with a mocking laugh. "Now, bow before Miss Wang and apologize."

"Are you lashing out because you're embarrassed?" Lin Yin asked, clearly amused. He was unfazed by the two elite assassins behind him.

He was not one for friendships, and few in the world had ever caught his interest. His words were simply the plain truth.

"You!" Wang Hongling glared at Lin Yin, rendered speechless by his audacity.

She was astonished that Lin Yin remained so composed, even with a gun to his head.

"Lin Yin, are you truly a fool?" Wang Hongling reassessed him, her eyes reflecting her curiosity. She had never encountered such an odd young man.

She couldn't fathom what was going through Lin Yin's mind.

In the past, the slightest furrow of her brow would send those self-proclaimed scions of wealthy families into a panic. They were so timid and considerate that they wouldn't dare utter a single unpleasant word. How could they ever be as brazen and bold as Lin Yin?

Even with a gun pressed against his head, Lin Yin remained defiantly calm.

"Have your men stand down," Lin Yin stated with composure. "I'll overlook this, considering you're a woman."

Wang Hongling giggled, her hand delicately covering her mouth, amused by Lin Yin's audacity.

"Lin Yin, are you out of your mind?" Hu Mingren questioned icily, unable to grasp Lin Yin's confidence. "I mistook you for a distinguished figure in the collector's circle, but judging by your wits, I can't fathom how you've become adept at authenticating treasures."

"Miss Wang, there's no point in engaging with this man. Admiring him is futile; he's nothing but a fool," Hu Mingren declared with a serious tone. "I'm starting to suspect he was delusional at Mingbao House when he identified those porcelain vases as counterfeits and shattered them. His judgment clearly wasn't based on any substantial expertise."

Wang Hongling's smile widened, her voice tinged with skepticism. "Could it be? My elaborate scheme was accidentally unraveled by a simpleton? That's hilariously preposterous."

"Miss Wang, it seems that's indeed the situation," Hu Mingren confirmed gravely, shaking his head in resignation. "I thought we had stumbled upon some elusive master. His ability to spot the fakes produced by my elite team had me startled. Yet, it turns out he's just a simpleton."

"No.6, No.7, take him downstairs for a thorough lesson, then leave him by the roadside," Wang Hongling ordered casually, her interest clearly fading.

She had once thought she'd found an interesting man in Lin Yin, which led to their lengthy exchange.

It now seemed that Lin Yin was simply not right in the head.

She even felt a twinge of pity for Lin Yin. Disrespected by his family and apparently mentally challenged, she, as Miss Wang of the Wang Family, couldn't justify squandering her time on such a pitiable fool.

"Uh!"

But as Wang Hongling's interest dwindled to boredom, a startling scene unfolded.

No.6 and No.7, two ruthless assassins, suddenly collapsed, slumping to the ground, their firearms dropping at Lin Yin's feet.

"What's going on?!"

Wang Hongling was utterly shocked, unable to grasp what had just happened. She had only caught a glimpse of Lin Yin flicking his wrist with his hands behind his back when suddenly, No.6 and No.7 screamed as though struck by lightning, collapsing to the floor.

Yet Lin Yin hadn't even turned around or given No.6 and No.7 as much as a glance. How had he pulled that off?

Lin Yin remained motionless, his smile directed at Wang Hongling.

That smile sent a wave of fear through her, and her complexion turned ashen. She knew all too well the skill level of No.6 and No.7.

The twin orphans had been raised by an assassin organization in the Americas, enduring brutal training that pushed them to their physical limits. They were abandoned on a deserted island as teenagers, forced into vicious fights to the death with other orphans from across the globe, and only they emerged as the Gu King, the survivors of that extreme ordeal. They had since begun their careers as mission operatives.

Years of making a name for themselves in the chaos of Africa and the Middle East had earned them a fearsome reputation, even among international assassins.

They had handled numerous tricky situations for her, and in Qingyun City, No.6 and No.7 had never met with failure, always emerging victorious in every fight.

And now, they had been taken down by Lin Yin, even though they had the advantage?

"You! How dare you attack Miss Wang's men?" Hu Mingren was just as astonished, his surprise quickly turning to anger as he snapped back to reality.

"Don't think you can act recklessly just because you've got some fighting skills! I'm going to call the Bodyguards from downstairs!" Hu Mingren shouted, charging toward the door, determined to bring back help to subdue Lin Yin.

Bang!

With a swift palm strike to Hu Mingren's neck, Lin Yin sent him sprawling to the ground, motionless.

Wang Hongling watched Lin Yin in disbelief, her mouth agape. She suddenly realized that the man before her was unfathomable, far from simple. A cold shiver ran down her spine.

Lin Yin chuckled darkly and began to slowly walk towards Miss Wang.

"What are you trying to do?" Miss Wang asked, her voice laced with tension. She was visibly unnerved, her earlier poise shattered by Lin Yin's formidable aura.

"Don't come any closer! If you do, I'll scream for help!" Wang Hongling's face turned a deep shade of red. Alone in the private room with him, she was unsure of what Lin Yin intended to do.

She wrapped her arms protectively around herself, her slight frame trembling. In her state of distress, she seemed like a frightened young girl.
