C74 You Are Thinking too Much!
A man dressed in black, his expression stone-cold, silently positioned himself behind Wang Ziwen. With a swift motion, he hoisted a lengthy black fishing bag.
The bag was shaped like a rifle barrel and pressed firmly against the back of Ziwen's head.
"Don't try anything rash, my friend behind me. The gun could go off..." Ziwen's voice trembled, his face ashen. He raised his hands, sweat beading on his forehead.
The icy touch of the barrel sent a chill down his spine.
"Tell your bodyguards to drop their guns and squat down!" the man in black commanded icily.
"Just do it! Everyone, get down!" Ziwen's voice was tinged with panic as he barked at his armed bodyguards.
Seven or eight men in suits complied, discarding their handguns and squatting with their hands up.
"Brother, can you please lower the gun? This is no laughing matter," Ziwen pleaded, his whole body quivering, his back soaked with a cold sweat.
While speaking, Ziwen risked a slight glance at the man behind him, his face contorting with fear.
"You're No.6? You're pointing a gun at my head?" Ziwen exclaimed, a mix of shock and anger in his voice. "Who sent you?"
"Shut up," No.6 replied, his face devoid of emotion. "I may know you, but my gun doesn't."
With that, No.6 nudged Ziwen's head with the fishing bag.
Ziwen's facial muscles tensed, his complexion ghostly pale, his entire body trembling, legs nearly giving out from fear.
Just then, a rose-red Buggati Veyron rolled into the alley, coming to a stop across its width.
A man in a black coat professionally opened the door, and a pair of black high heels touched the ground, followed by long, snow-white legs stepping out.
A statuesque woman with a bewitching beauty, draped in an ancient-style coat with a red embroidered pattern, strode forward with an air of authority.
Wang Hongling's lips quirked into a slight smile, exuding an unparalleled elegance. She casually rolled up her hair and smoothly removed her sunglasses, revealing her stunning eyes.
She cast a playful look at Lin Yin before her gaze turned icy, fixing Wang Ziwen with a piercing stare.
"Seventh sister, what are you trying to do? Even if we don't get along, I'm still your cousin. Are you really thinking about getting rid of me?" Wang Ziwen's face contorted with displeasure.
"Ha!" Wang Hongling let out a scornful laugh. "Just look at you, so frightened you're practically wetting your pants. And you still have the nerve to call yourself a member of the Wang Family, strutting around like you're something special?"
Wang Ziwen's face flushed with anger, but he was too intimidated to utter another word.
He was baffled by the turn of events. He had been about to put the worthless Lin Yin in his place when Wang Hongling, that madwoman, had burst onto the scene.
That good-for-nothing Lin Yin had unbelievable luck. At every critical moment, someone always seemed to come to his rescue!
"Lin Yin, I've already told you that you should be loyally serving me. If I hadn't arrived just in time, you'd be dead now. Do you realize that?" Wang Hongling said, casting a smug look at Lin Yin.
Lin Yin simply smiled, remaining silent.
"Seventh sister, how do you even know this good-for-nothing Lin Yin?" Wang Ziwen asked incredulously. "Did you come here specifically to help him?"
"You actually sent someone to put a gun to your cousin's head over someone as worthless as him?" Wang Ziwen's voice was laced with shock.
His entire worldview seemed to be crumbling. Wang Hongling was known throughout Qingyun City for her arrogance and icy demeanor, a veritable empress, the epitome of an ice queen. Not a single man in the elite circles dared to approach her, fearing it would be akin to courting death.
Yet this madwoman was actually intervening on behalf of a nobody like Lin Yin?
"Who I choose to help is none of your concern," Wang Hongling retorted with a cold laugh. "Are you upset, you spineless wimp? I'm deliberately going against your wishes. What are you going to do about it? Run back and tattle to the Old Master? Complain that I'm picking on you?"
"You! You!" Wang Ziwen was beside himself with rage and humiliation, feeling utterly disgraced as he was berated by his cousin in front of the worthless Lin Yin, his reputation in tatters.
Lin Yin, his face a mask of indifference, walked over to Wang Ziwen.
"What are you trying to do, you worthless fool?" Wang Ziwen demanded icily.
Lin Yin's slap sent Wang Ziwen tumbling to the ground, his face swelling as he spat out a mouthful of fresh blood.
"You dare to strike me?" Wang Ziwen's face was a mask of disbelief as he glared at Lin Yin, his fists clenched tightly.
With a thud, Lin Yin's shoe sole brutally stomped on Wang Ziwen's face, forcing him to spit out more blood as half of his face was squashed against the ground, his eyes burning with intense resentment and fury.
"If Wang Hongling had arrived just one minute later, you'd already be dead," Lin Yin stated calmly.
"You're dead meat. I'll make you rue the day you were born. Don't think you can beat me just because you're under Wang Hongling's wing! You're nothing more than her lapdog!" Wang Ziwen spat out defiantly.
A chill flashed in Lin Yin's eyes as he pivoted and delivered a kick that sent Wang Ziwen flying across the space, crashing heavily onto a sleek black sedan, his body trembling with pain, muscles spasming.
"Wang Hongling! Are you just going to stand there and watch this nobody humiliate me?" Wang Ziwen's eyes were filled with venom as he spoke through his grotesquely swollen face, looking utterly disheveled. "I'll make sure the Old Master applies the Wang Family's discipline when I return, and I'll accuse you of betraying our family!"
Wang Hongling remained composed, casting a brief glance at No.6. "Silence him," she commanded.
No.6 charged and delivered a punch straight to Wang Ziwen's face, knocking him out cold on the ground.
Wang Hongling's gaze lingered on Lin Yin with a hint of approval. It appeared that Lin Yin had been severely bullied by Wang Ziwen at Zhang's Group earlier that day. He had been bold enough to step on Wang Ziwen's face.
"I've avenged you and saved your life. As a man, you ought to know what to do next, right?" Wang Hongling said with a teasing tone.
"You saved my life?" Lin Yin shook his head. "Your presence or absence wouldn't have changed the outcome."
Wang Hongling's eyes narrowed, her displeasure evident as she regarded Lin Yin. "With a dozen guns aimed at your head, you still pretend to be fearless?"
"I've said it before, your timing was impeccable. Had you been a minute later, your cousin would have been a goner," Lin Yin stated with an air of detachment.
Wang Hongling placed her hands on her hips and shot Lin Yin a withering glare, as though she were looking at a complete fool.
She inhaled deeply, suppressing the urge to lash out. "Great, so you're saying I shouldn't have bothered coming, is that it? Who talks like that?"
Wang Hongling was seething with humiliation and anger. It was her first time ever going out of her way to help a guy, and not only was Lin Yin unappreciative, but he also had the nerve to maintain such a nasty attitude?
Without her intervention, on what grounds would he have the audacity to strut around now? How dare he even think of confronting Wang Ziwen? He owed his survival to her aid, yet he couldn't muster a shred of gratitude?
"Lin Yin, do you even qualify as a man? Are you trying to play the rogue and deny your debt?" Wang Hongling fumed. "Had I not come to your rescue, Wang Ziwen would have left you for dead. Do you get that? You should be bending over backward to thank me, swearing your allegiance with your hand over your heart!"
"You're overthinking it," Lin Yin retorted with a dismissive shake of his head and a cold laugh, before turning to walk away.
"Overthinking it?" Wang Hongling's face flushed crimson with rage, her foot stamping the ground in frustration. She had never encountered someone as ungrateful and oblivious as Lin Yin.
