C88 You Don't Have Time to Drink a Cup of Milk Tea!?
"Hmph!" Wang Hongling snorted icily, "I'm warning you, if I hear any more of these rumors, I won't let you off so easily! You're afraid of Ziwen, but are you afraid of me?"
"Of course not, Miss Wang. Rest assured, I'll make sure the Zhang Family keeps quiet," Zhang Hongjun assured her earnestly.
At that moment, Lu Yahui and her husband were petrified. They hadn't realized that the 'wild woman' they had insulted was none other than Miss Wang of the prestigious Wang Family. Wang Hongling had even swollen Zhang Hongyu's face from slapping her over this!
"Miss Wang, I apologize. I mistook you for someone else! Please disregard my earlier comments; they were all baseless," Lu Yahui pleaded with Wang Hongling.
She feared retribution from Wang Hongling, especially considering Zhang Hongyu's swollen face and how even the First and Third Bros had to bow their heads. If Wang Hongling decided to target her family, what would they do?
Wang Hongling remained silent, glancing at Lin Yin. Despite her anger, she was willing to show respect for Lin Yin.
"Lin Yin, why are you just standing there? Since you know Miss Wang, could you please speak on my behalf?" Lu Yahui implored, "You're still considered our son-in-law! How can you be so heartless as to not utter a single word in my defense?"
Lin Yin had thought to himself, "Lu Yahui, begging others is pointless when you could be asking me."
He simply shook his head, avoiding Lu Yahui's gaze.
"Heh, now you remember Lin Yin is your son-in-law?" Wang Hongling scoffed, unable to bear Lu Yahui's demeanor, "What were you saying about Lin Yin before? And now you have the audacity to ask for his help?"
Lu Yahui's face contorted with discomfort, her head recoiling in fear of receiving the same treatment as Zhang Hongyu.
"What are you cowering from? I wouldn't waste my energy on someone like you," Wang Hongling remarked disdainfully.
"Furthermore," she continued sternly, "Lin Yin is now the general manager of an antique company I own. Think twice before you dare to mistreat him."
After finishing her statement, No.6 and No.7 swung open the car door, and Wang Hongling gracefully took her seat in the back. The vehicle roared to life and quickly departed from the Zhang Family's ancestral home.
The Zhang Family members were left standing there, their faces a picture of mortification. Their glares at Lin Yin were tinged with resentment.
Zhang Hongyu, silent and with half her face swollen, climbed into her RV and drove off in a cloud of gloom.
Zhang Hongjun and Zhang Hongxuan's faces were ashen. After a brief exchange of glances, they both climbed into a Mercedes-Benz S600 and left. They had lost all face in front of Lin Yin today and couldn't bear to linger a moment longer.
"Ugh! I never expected Second Sister to make such a fool of herself with the Wang Family. I thought she'd be of some help to us," Zhang Hongxuan grumbled from the back seat of the car. "Not only did she ruin our plan to get rid of Lin Yin, but we also didn't gain any favor with Ziwen. And to top it off, we had to humble ourselves and apologize to Lin Yin. Have we no regard for our own dignity as elders?"
"Forget it, Hongyu is unreliable," Zhang Hongjun said gravely. "The same goes for Ziwen. He's not answering calls anymore. I heard he had actually arrived at the Zhang Family estate with his bodyguards, but the presence of Wang Hongling sent him packing."
"Big Brother, what kind of luck does Lin Yin have to be backed by Miss Wang of the Wang Family?" Zhang Hongxuan asked incredulously. "This good-for-nothing is really living off women, relying on someone as influential as Wang Hongling!"
"He's got nothing else going for him; he's just a pretty face who preys on women," Zhang Hongjun dismissed. "Do you think he can count on Wang Hongling forever? I bet she'll grow tired of him soon enough and cast him aside. We'll have our chance to turn the tables eventually!"
"Absolutely. This nobody has shamed us time and again. I must seize the opportunity to put him in his place!" Zhang Hongxuan seethed, the memory of Lin Yin forcing his son, Zhang Tianhai, to kneel still burning in his mind.
"Don't worry, we'll stick to the original plan. Once Wu Yang is toppled, I'll immediately strip Zhang Qimo of her directorship. Next, I'll shut down Zhang Xiufeng's jewelry factory," Zhang Hongjun stated with resolve. "We'll ruin their entire family, and when the time comes, we'll finish off Lin Yin! By then, we'll have established joint ventures with both the Sunn and Zhou families. I refuse to believe that Wang Hongling would oppose us over such a pretty face."
"Absolutely. Your son-in-law is Sunn Heng, the Eldest Young Master of the Sunn Family. If we were to confront them openly, should we really fear Wang Hongling?" Zhang Hongxuan offered his flattery.
Zhang Hongjun was pleased, maintaining a modest smile.
At the Zhang Family's ancestral home, Zhang Qimo and her relatives fell into silence for several minutes. Today's events had taken them completely by surprise, far beyond what Zhang Xiufeng and his wife had anticipated.
Zhang Qimo's face betrayed a complex mix of emotions. It was clear to her that Lin Yin shared a close bond with Wang Hongling, having become the general manager of her company. Would Lin Yin still be willing to work as her assistant?
"Lin Yin, are you serving as Wang Hongling's general manager now?" Zhang Qimo asked earnestly, her lips slightly pursed.
Lin Yin responded honestly, "She has offered, but I've declined."
Skepticism clouded Zhang Qimo's face as she probed further, "Is it true, as you claim, that you have no connection to Wang Hongling?"
"There's really nothing between us," Lin Yin affirmed seriously.
Anger flared in Zhang Qimo, her lips quivering and cheeks puffing out as a flush spread across her face. She struggled to contain her emotions.
"Liar!" she exclaimed, before turning on her heel and storming off, her heart a tumult of shame and indignation.
Lin Yin had insisted there was nothing between him and Wang Hongling. Did he really take her for a fool? Wang Hongling had publicly backed him up. And the notoriously fiery Miss Wang of the Wang Family, how could she look at him with such tenderness? Was a woman's intuition truly so unreliable?
Lin Yin had been deceiving her all along.
She had only just allowed Lin Yin to hold her hand, and now it seemed he was getting better and better at playing her.
The more Zhang Qimo dwelled on the situation, the more her face betrayed her unease.
Zhang Xiufeng and his wife were momentarily taken aback before quickly catching up with their daughter's pace.
Lin Yin watched Zhang Qimo's retreating figure and called out, "Qimo, you've really got the wrong idea about me. Don't overthink this."
"Don't speak to me! I don't want anything to do with you!" Zhang Qimo retorted furiously, quickening her stride.
Was he still insisting it was a misunderstanding? Still telling her not to overthink things?
Lin Yin was truly heartless! Didn't he realize that now was the time to chase after her and embrace her? Zhang Qimo was seething with indignation.
Lin Yin appeared resigned. Though he lacked experience in matters of the heart, he understood that jealousy could render a woman utterly irrational and uncompromising.
With a sense of helplessness, Lin Yin turned and spotted a familiar silhouette at the corner store, feigning interest in buying cigarettes.
He entered the store with a stoic face.
"Hehe," No.6 said with an awkward chuckle, ruffling his hair and offering a cigarette. "What a coincidence, Mr. Lin. I was just here to buy a smoke. Care for one?"
Lin Yin accepted the Soft China Cigar from No.6, who quickly lit it for him.
"Hard at work, I see," Lin Yin said, exhaling a puff of smoke and clapping No.6 on the shoulder before turning to leave the store.
No.6 stood there with a rigid, embarrassed expression.
As Lin Yin reached the doorway, the roar of a supercar filled the air.
Wang Hongling's rose-red vehicle pulled up at the curb of the store. She casually tied her hair back and removed her sunglasses, her smile radiant as she gazed at Lin Yin.
"Why the rush to leave? Don't you have time for a cup of milk tea?"
