C89 Jealousy
Lin Yin cast a glance at Wang Hongling. He was about to say he didn't have time for tea. Yet, considering Wang Hongling had indeed been a great help to him today, he figured he could spare some time to join her for a cup.
Making his way over, Lin Yin settled into the back seat of the car. A subtle smile played on Wang Hongling's lips as she watched him.
No.6 quickly hopped into the driver's seat and the car sped off.
"We're heading to the Sarola International Court in the central district," Wang Hongling instructed. She then turned to Lin Yin with a mischievous look, her smile teasing as she crooked her index finger at him. "Come here, I have something interesting to show you."
"What is it?" Lin Yin asked, unfazed by her suggestive gesture.
With a cold huff and an eye roll, Wang Hongling tossed a contract at him. "See for yourself."
Lin Yin's brow furrowed as he examined the document—a five-year work agreement. The contract listed him as the Vice Chairman of the Mingren Group, with an annual salary of ten million, and no specific duties.
"I've already said I won't join your company," Lin Yin replied dismissively, setting the contract aside.
"Why not?" Wang Hongling pressed, her tone assertive. "After the huge favor I've done for you, offering you a job that pays ten million a year, on what grounds do you refuse?"
She was baffled. With things having reached this point, how could Lin Yin still have the audacity to turn her down?
He was already cornered by the Zhang Family to such an extent. Was he really going to stoop to becoming an assistant director at Zhang's Group?
"As I've mentioned, nobody is in a position to dictate my actions," Lin Yin stated.
"Just keep up the act. I'm curious to see how long you can keep this up," Wang Hongling said with a smirk.
She couldn't grasp why he'd prefer to be an assistant to some minor director rather than take a lucrative job offer. What was he playing at?
"So, tell me," Wang Hongling probed with a playful tone, "since you're so proud, how do you plan to show your appreciation for my repeated assistance? Are you really that arrogant to accept my help without offering anything in return?"
Lin Yin chuckled. "Isn't this me having tea with you a form of thanks?"
Even if Wang Hongling hadn't managed to scare off Wang Ziwen, she had already arranged for a group of skilled individuals to be stationed near the old Zhang Family residence. They were numerous.
Wang Hongling scoffed, "So, you're saying that if you agree to have tea with me, you're doing me a favor? I'm the one helping you out, and yet I still have to offer you tea. You mean to say that by accepting the tea, you're repaying my kindness. You really think highly of yourself."
Lin Yin, intrigued, asked, "Then how would you like me to show my appreciation?"
"Sign the contract and work with me from now on," Wang Hongling stated firmly.
"That's not going to happen," Lin Yin responded coolly.
Wang Hongling inhaled sharply, glaring at Lin Yin with resentment. She couldn't persuade him no matter what.
"Fine. Don't expect my help next time," Wang Hongling declared haughtily, stretching out her long legs.
Unless Lin Yin came to her, she would simply observe from the sidelines the next time he ran into trouble.
Lin Yin just smiled, remaining silent.
By this time, the car had already driven past Zhangfa Street. As luck would have it, just as the car was turning a corner, they happened to see Zhang Qimo and her family.
Lin Yin didn't notice them, but Wang Hongling did. She purposely shot Zhang Qimo a challenging glance.
Zhang Qimo was fuming, her teeth itching with irritation as she glared at Wang Hongling, fists clenched.
"What!?" exclaimed Lu Yahui, noticing Lin Yin and Wang Hongling in the car, her expression perplexed.
"Daughter, isn't that Lin Yin? He's with that woman again..." Lu Yahui began, then hesitated, turning to Zhang Qimo.
Zhang Qimo was biting her lip, her face flushed with anger. Had the car stopped, she would've charged forward to kick the door in a heartbeat!
It was infuriating. What gave Wang Hongling the right to be so brazen? She was the one who was Lin Yin's wife in name!
"What's this situation? It seems Lin Yin really is involved with Wang Hongling," Zhang Xiufeng mused with a slight frown, "Why is Wang Hongling interested in him?"
Zhang Xiufeng and his wife wore expressions of utter bewilderment. The Lin Yin they had been so eager to cast aside had somehow become a VIP in Wang Hongling's eyes, now treated like a prized possession by others.
They were left feeling quite perplexed, unable to grasp what special talents Lin Yin possessed.
"Why is Lin Yin so adamant about not divorcing Qimo, especially since he's won over Wang Hongling?" Zhang Xiufeng pondered with confusion. "Wang Hongling has even mentioned that he's now the general manager of an antique company and has the support of the Wang Family. So why is he so stubborn about not divorcing Qimo?"
"Don't you see?" Lu Yahui huffed, her tone suggesting she had it all figured out. "Lin Yin doesn't want to let go of anyone. He enjoys depending on others. Deep down, he knows he's not particularly skilled; his good looks are his only asset. Wang Hongling is probably just amusing herself with him. She might lose interest tomorrow and cast him aside."
"That's precisely why he's aware that Qimo is the only one who would stick by him for life. Hence, he clings on, refusing to divorce, while also trying to ingratiate himself with Wang Hongling. I've encountered too many men without a shred of decency!"
"Mom, please stop talking!" Zhang Qimo interjected, barely containing her frustration.
The situation was troubling her, and doubts about Lin Yin were creeping into her mind. She feared he was no longer the honest man he once was.
"Yahui, your point is valid. Lin Yin is despicable, wanting to hold onto Qimo. Today, he's refusing to divorce and has other women aiding him. He's truly vile," Zhang Xiufeng said, his brow furrowed. "We must act swiftly to find a way to dissolve their marriage. Perhaps we should consult a lawyer and file a lawsuit."
"No, let's not sue them. Let's keep him around," Lu Yahui declared with a smug look. "If he can play this game, why can't we?"
"Qimo, in a couple of days, when you find the time, call Lin Yin. Invite him over for dinner and suggest he move back in."
Zhang Qimo stared at Lu Yahui in astonishment. Her mother had always scorned Lin Yin, and it was she who had insisted on sending him away last time. Why was she now asking her to invite Lin Yin back home?
"What are you implying?" Zhang Xiufeng asked, his face etched with confusion.
"He's thriving with Wang Hongling's support, isn't he? If he's so eager to keep Qimo, then let's play along," Lu Yahui said with a sly grin. "Lin Yin must have reaped plenty of benefits from Wang Hongling. Fancy cars and houses are a given, and he's surely pocketed a substantial amount of money. While Wang Hongling is still entertained by him, while he's still of use, let's bring him home. Then we'll find a way to strip him of his wealth!"
"Once we've settled things with Wang Ziwen, we'll have Qimo divorce him and demand that he surrenders all his assets. By then, Wang Hongling will likely have lost interest in him. He's completely outmatched in a battle against us!" Lu Yahui declared icily, "I need to get even for the anger I've felt today."
Zhang Qimo turned deathly pale and protested, "What are these ideas you're having? You're being completely irrational."
Her mother was utterly consumed by greed.
"You're just too naive, and that's why Lin Yin managed to deceive you so thoroughly. If he can stoop to such unethical behavior, then we're justified in doing the same," Lu Yahui retorted with a cold huff. "We need to act quickly. Since you refuse to call him, I'll have your father get in touch with Lin Yin. Then I'll take him to task myself!"
