C14 Demon Slaying Dagger

As he said that his eyes glowed red with a menacing light but it soon disappeared before the woman noticed.

After 4 hours, all the soldiers were gathered outside and the generals, the city lord and his parents were also standing in front of them.

"Thank you all for gathering here on such short notice and I am sure you are also wondering why, we are gathered here because in one hour, we will be besieged by waves of monster horde but still we will come out victorious because even though they have the advantage of numbers, we also have our secret weapon, teamwork, so we will fight for our city, our families and our lives! " The city lord said to the soldiers to boost their morale and it worked because when he ended, the soldiers responded with all loud cheer and he could sense their anticipation but then something unexpected happened that caused their morale to plummel.

As they were cheering, the ground started to tremble lightly but as time went by, it started to tremble strongly.

The city lord looked towards the source of the trembling and he took a step back when he did, he saw the trees in the distance being uprooted at a frightening speed by a cloud of dust which he immediately identified as the monster horde.

He was frightened because the cloud of dust moved with lightening speed and it stretched backwards so much that he couldn't see its end but he soon suppressed the fear and glanced at the soldiers to find them scared to their wits by the size of the monster horde.

After observing the expressions of the soldiers, he drew his sword which was the only Rank D weapon in the city and shouted to the archers who were using Rank E bows and told them to aim.

"Aim, Aim, Aim, FIRE!" The city lord shouted when the monsters reached the range of their bows.

When the arrows touched the monsters, only a few of them managed to pierce them and the rest bounced off their bodies or broke.

Seeing this the city lord shouted a war cry then he jumped off the wall, followed by his parents then his generals who each led a part of the soldiers then the soldiers themselves.

Immediately his feet touched the ground, the city lord charged into the monster horde and started killing monsters like they were chickens and when the soldiers saw this, they also regained some of their confidence and rushed into the monster horde.

Before long, the bodies of many monsters littered the ground but some of the soldiers had also gained injuries and the monster horde was still increasing and it looked infinite.

Meanwhile James was fiddling around with the rewards from the chests. He wore the mask and changed his appearance to various movie stars and other famous stars that he knew before the apocalypse.

While he was doing this he suddenly remembered something.

"Wait shouldn't I be doing something right now, maybe it was nothing" James asked himself as he tried to remember but he didn't remember so he brushed it off and continued playing around with the rewards.

As he was playing around, the battle was still going on and the soldiers were starting to lose the upper hand because some of them had gained serious injuries and they were taken out of the battle but with each fall the monsters numbers were also reducing.

Even though the numbers were slowly reducing, the monsters that were arriving were high level and the soldiers were starting to have a hard time because the monsters at the front were Rank 3 monsters so they were starting to wonder how strong the monsters at the back were.

The city lord was starting to suspect something because it seemed like there was someone or something controlling the monsters, he thought that because the monsters were arranged so that the low levelled monsters would be at the front and the high levelled would be at the back maybe to tire them out, he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

So making up his mind, he started to move towards his parents and his generals who were effortlessly killing the monsters and told them his hypothesis and the plan he had formulated.

After telling them this, he started moving forward and they followed behind him, as they moved forward, the monsters they met grew stronger and when they had almost reached the middle of the monster horde, the monsters they were facing were rank 4 and the generals had to stay behind because they couldn't face the monsters ahead.

The city lord could barely face Rank 5 monsters so he had to use his strongest skills whenever he met one but his parents were faring much better than him because they were both Rank 5 Espers so they could kill a Rank 5 in a few moves but what frightened them was that they hadn't reached the end of the monster horde and they had already encountered 10 Rank 5 monsters so they returned back to the front.

While they were engaged in a fierce battle, James was still playing around with the rewards.

"Oh yeah, didn't the system say there was a battle going on, I almost forgot " James suddenly remembered the system's words.

"What the hell, so you were waiting for me to remember, what if I didn't remember" James was shocked when he saw the last part of the notification, immediate deduction of 50 levels.

Now he wished he hadn't gotten the system update, when did the system become so ruthless, he didn't know the future but he guessed that there was going to more of this and he shivered when he thought about it.

"Wait what if the battle has already begun or what if I am too late" Immediately this thought entered his head, he equipped the equipment and hid the dagger then rushed out of the room to the scene of the battle.

While he was rushing over, the soldiers were in turmoil because the their numbers had decreased significantly but the monsters numbers were still increasing and they were starting to wonder if it was a monster horde or a monster flood because by now all the low levelled monsters were dead and the one that were here were all Rank 4 monsters and above.

As they were fighting, they noticed that the monsters had stopped as if there was something preventing them from coming any further. They were surprised but they didn't let their guard down and after they had killed the ones that had breached the line, they suddenly felt a frightening aura that made their hearts shake.

When they looked at the source of the aura, they were so scared that they fell to their knees, the owner of the aura was a demon, yes a real life demon, what the hell is happening here, first a huge monster horde then a demon, what next, a dragon.

"Hello puny humans, I am here on a mission to kill all of you " The demon said with a smile as it scanned the soldiers with its red eyes but when it's eyes landed on the city lord's father, a look of fright appeared on its eyes but it soon vanished quickly before anyone could spot it and as it stepped forward, it met was met with a barrier which prevented it from going any further.

"Hmm so this is what stopped the monster, it is weak but it shouldn't even be here in the first place, there must be a treasure here " The demon said as it slammed it's fists on the barrier which flicked with lightening then a crack appeared.

"Hmm lightening, that's strange but still it can't stop me Hahahaha" The demon said as it continuously slammed it's hands and the barrier which continuously flickered with lightening and before long it crumbled under the immerse strength of the demons hits.

"Now I can finish you all and search for the treasure " The demon said with a smile as it rose onto the air and flew down at top speed with its fist stretched out.

The soldiers were frozen in fear but when they saw the demon about to kill them they tried to move but they couldn't and they could only watch as they were killed.

They closed their eyes and waited for their deaths but after some seconds passed they realized that they still hadn't died but as they were thinking they were awoken by a loud sound following which they regained control over their body which caused them to open their eyes and look towards the source.

When they looked, they saw a cloud of dust where the demon should have landed and when it cleared, they were met with a stunning sight.

A human stood with a cape and one hand behind him and his back facing them but the most interesting thing was that he cut the demons hand off with a dagger which seemed ordinary at first sight.

'Thank God I reached here on time otherwise the consequence would have been dire, by the way I am sure I look cool 'James thought to himself but was interrupted by the shout of the demon.

"How do you have that item" The demon shouted in fright.

When the demon finished talking, the city lord's father looked towards the dagger and surprise flashed through his eyes as his eyes glowed red.

"The demon slaying dagger" The city lord's father whispered to himself.
