When James used inspect on the sword and saw the description his eyes almost popped out, he had heard that the highest rank of equipment in the city was at RANK D and that it was in the possession of the city lord who according to James deductions was at level 30.
But it wasn't because it was expensive but because it was very hard for a monster to drop a RANK E equipment much less a RANK D equipment, then he saw something else which caught his attention.
The sword had a skill but it was locked, he never thought or heard that a weapon could have a skill.
'System why does the sword have a skill because I have never heard of a weapon having a skill before' James asked with surprise.

'Wow I have read about sword QI In martial arts novels but I would have never imagined that I would be able to use it, I wonder if it is as formidable as they said' James said with excitement but then he thought of something and then he felt stupid as he said.
'System I have been so excited that I haven't thought to ask you about your origin and the monster's existence on earth' James said as he remembered that all the MCs in novels he had read about in this situation always asked these questions first.

When James heard this he felt like his mind was about to explode 'I wonder how formidable the existence who made the system is ' He was horrified by this thought but quickly calmed his mind.
'To be able to have this power I have to get stronger and I should get some sleep so that I will have enough energy to farm monsters tomorrow' James thought as he lay on his bed to sleep but the truth was at his level he didn't need to sleep always and could stay awake for 3 to 4 days straight.
In a faraway palace in space, a golden-robed man sitting on a throne could be seen watching James through a mirror.
"It will depend on you if the power I have given you will help you or bring trouble to you for I can no longer interfere in this war " The golden-robed man muttered then disappeared.
The next morning after James had woken up and finished preparing himself, he left for the Esper Association to get himself an Esper license, information about the zones and the ranks of monsters and humans, and a bestiary that contained the strength and weaknesses of monsters.
The zones in his city were divided into 3.
Zone 1 had the weakest monsters and according to the system's description
A rank 1 monster had the strength of a level 1 or 2
A rank 2monster had the strength of a level 3 or 4
A rank 3monster had the strength of a level 5 or 6
A rank 4 monster had the strength of a level 7 or 8
A rank 5 monster had the strength of a level 9 or 10 which was the strongest in a zone 1 forest.
When he got to the forest he showed the guards his license and whilst they were inspecting it, he secretly used the inspect skill on them and found out that they were both level 10 like him.
"You can go "One of the guards said to him after inspecting the license.
"Thank you " James said after which he entered the forest to search for his first kill.
