C25 Huang Shi Street
She's headed to Yellowstone Street as well?
Lin Sheng was somewhat taken aback by this. Without a word, he opened the car door and settled into the seat.
The driver, having been questioned by Lin Sheng, didn't take offense. Instead, he cheerfully explained, "It's tough in our line of work. With ride-sharing services cutting into our business, I apologize, sir, but I'm just trying to make a living."
Lin Sheng nodded and replied, "Alright, drive. I'm in a rush."
"Sure thing!"
The driver responded, ignited the engine, and the car began to move smoothly.
Lin Sheng remained silent and closed his eyes to rest.
Su Lan, sitting next to him, felt slighted. Was he completely ignoring her?
It wasn't that she considered herself exceptionally beautiful, but being treated as if she were invisible by Lin Sheng was a first for her.
Su Lan's dark, sparkling eyes darted around before she asked, "Handsome, in such a hurry—are you off to Yellowstone Street to shop?"
Lin Sheng nodded and grunted in affirmation.
A glint appeared in Su Lan's eyes; she had guessed right.
She folded her arms and said, "You're looking to buy antique jade, aren't you? I work there. If you'd like, I can show you where to find the really good stuff!"
"Most of those places are just there to take newcomers for a ride."
Lin Sheng opened his eyes and turned to Su Lan. "You work on Yellowstone Street?"
He was surprised. Who starts work in the afternoon?
"Yeah, surprising, isn't it?" Su Lan said, a hint of smugness in her expression.
"Indeed, it is," he admitted.
Lin Sheng closed his eyes once more and said, "No need to trouble yourself; I'll make my own purchases."
Su Lan was attractive enough to be a model, yet she worked at an antique shop?
Lin Sheng was skeptical.
Maybe Su Lan was a shill, luring customers under the guise of being helpful.
He trusted his own eye and didn't need any assistance.
If Su Lan knew what Lin Sheng thought of her, she would be furious.
She felt a bit indignant. She had assumed Lin Sheng would take a keen interest and soften his demeanor toward her. Instead, he remained aloof and arrogant.
"Humph! If you don't want me to show you the way, who do you think would be willing to?" Su Lan turned her head away, her voice icy. "Some people look like newbies, too. It'd be a shame if they got swindled out of everything."
Su Lan was fuming. She didn't need to guide Lin Sheng, but this was the first time she'd made such an effort to strike up a conversation with a stranger, only to be met with indifference. It left her feeling quite annoyed.
What she didn't realize was that Lin Sheng had little interest in other women, Yunfei being the exception.
The journey was silent, and within about ten minutes, they reached Yellowstone Street.
Lin Sheng paid the fare and stepped out of the car.
Following suit, Su Lan exited the vehicle behind him, glanced at Lin Sheng's retreating figure, and muttered under her breath, "I hope you get conned out of even your underwear!"
Despite everything, Lin Sheng had an energetic presence. With a bit of effort, he could easily pass for a handsome man.
Yellowstone Street was renowned in several nearby cities for its size and the plethora of jade and antiquities it offered, drawing crowds every day.
Yet, in the world of antiques and jade, genuine treasures were rare, and the unwary could quickly find themselves ruined.
Lin Sheng surveyed the scene. The perimeter of Yellowstone Street was lined with stalls, where numerous vendors hawked raw stones and antiques. While many looked on, actual buyers were few and far between.
Everyone knew that despite the low prices, the stall area had never yielded a truly valuable find. Whether it was 300 or 500, spending money here was often like throwing it away.
Checking the time, Lin Sheng noted it was just past two in the afternoon. With several hours to spare, he could afford to take his time.
He entered the stall area, focusing his qi in his eyes, and began a methodical search.
With antiques and jade, even the most sophisticated technological methods of the modern world fell short; it all came down to the buyer's eye.
Lin Sheng, however, was no ordinary buyer. Blessed with an ancient legacy and profound cultivation, he possessed the unique ability to sense the essence within the antiques and jade.
So, for him, purchasing antiques was essentially a no-lose proposition.
Yet, given his wealth, unless he had a personal use for these items, there was really no need for him to make money this way.
Su Lan couldn't help but stifle a giggle when she saw Lin Sheng venture into the stall area. This young man clearly seemed like a novice!
Naturally stunning, Su Lan's laughter immediately drew the gaze of many men, their eyes gleaming as they scanned her figure.
Accustomed to such attention, Su Lan clicked her high heels and trailed behind Lin Sheng at a leisurely pace.
After Lin Sheng ended up with a counterfeit, she couldn't resist teasing him to even the score.
Su Lan had a car, but after having a few drinks at a party, she opted for a taxi instead.
Finding herself sharing a ride with Lin Sheng to Yellowstone Street felt like serendipity, so she decided to invite him to her shop for a visit, intent on ensuring he wouldn't be at a loss.
Unexpectedly, Lin Sheng was impervious to her kindness, seemingly indifferent to her goodwill.
"Hey! Su Lan?"
Suddenly, a booming voice rang out, followed by a burst of raucous laughter.
From just those two sounds, Lin Sheng could hazard a guess about the man who was laughing.
The laughter was boisterous and tinged with lewdness, clearly not the mark of a gentleman.
He turned to see a group of dapper men encircling a woman with fair skin and striking beauty.
That woman was the same one who had shared his ride earlier.
Her name was Su Lan?
Lin Sheng didn't dwell on it. Given Su Lan's looks and figure, it was hardly surprising that she attracted unwanted attention.
The ringleader of the men, a burly twenty-something, ogled Su Lan with unabashed lechery.
Disgusted, Su Lan shot the man a withering look and snapped, "Wang Chao, get out of my way!"
She attempted to leave, but Wang Chao moved to block her path once more, saying, "Su Lan, we meet again. What a coincidence!"
"It's been a few days, and you seem to have filled out even more!"
Wang Chao leered at Su Lan's chest and remarked, "You must have had your fair share of massages, huh? I'm quite skilled in that area myself. How about you give me the opportunity to show you tonight?"
Su Lan's cheeks flushed with embarrassment upon hearing Wang Chao's crude comment, compounded by the stares of onlookers. Despite being 23 years old, she had never been in a relationship.
"Back off! You're despicable!"
Fuming, Su Lan clenched her teeth and fixed Wang Chao with a fierce glare.
"And what if I don't leave?" Wang Chao taunted, a large and imposing figure who began to twist his body in a mocking dance. "I'll only step aside if you give me a kiss!"
Enraged and at a loss, Su Lan stamped her foot in frustration. Just then, she caught sight of a group of people approaching in the distance. She quickly waved her hands and called out, "Uncle Hong, there's a disturbance here! Please come and handle it!"
