C14 Being Monitored!
For Tianyi, starting over with Dongfang Ze was simply impossible. His name felt like a curse to her, just hearing it made her feel restless and uneasy.
When Gu Luo said he was going on a business trip, he really left Tianyi behind in the large villa. Living there alone, she felt the emptiness of both the space and her heart.
Boredom consumed her, and with nothing to do, her mind wandered aimlessly. She wondered if Gu Luo had really asked Dongfang Ze to look after her. How did Dongfang Ze respond? Was he supposed to take care of her or not?
Even though she didn't want to see Dongfang Ze, the thought of him kept flashing in her mind, refusing to go away. She felt like she was going crazy. If she didn’t find something to do, she was sure she’d lose her mind.
To keep herself sane, Tianyi called Anan. It had been days since she last heard from her and she wondered what Anan was up to.
As soon as the call connected, Anan's excited voice came through. "Tianyi, we must be on the same wavelength. I was just about to call you!"
Tianyi replied, "Yeah, too bad you're a girl. With this kind of connection, I'd marry you if you weren't."
Anan laughed and teased, "Oh, please, who would want to marry you?"
After a pause, Anan added, "By the way, there's a high school reunion coming up. Are you interested in going?"
Even though reunions could be pretty dull, at least there would be people around, which was better than being home alone. Without thinking twice, Tianyi answered, "Sure, when is it?"
"Tomorrow night," Anan replied.
After hanging up, Tianyi went into her closet. She wasn’t expecting much from the reunion, but it had been a while since she dressed up. She wanted to look her best.
Meanwhile, Dongfang Ze listened to his assistant’s report, his brow furrowed as he quietly asked, "Reunion?"
"Yes, sir, Miss Gu is going to her high school reunion."
Dongfang Ze's face lit up with a warm smile. After all, he and Tianyi were high school classmates. How could he miss out on a high school reunion?
"Continue with the report. What has she been up to?"
The assistant, holding a folder, continued to list Tianyi's activities.
"From eight to eleven in the morning, she played video games. At one, she did a face mask, took a nap at two, and ordered takeout at four..."
Even though Tianyi's activities seemed mundane, Dongfang Ze found himself oddly pleased listening to them. The woman naively thought she had escaped by jumping out of his window, unaware that her every move was under his watch.
With Gu Luo on a business trip, Dongfang Ze had plenty of time to toy with her. The prospect of future entanglements amused him, and just thinking about it made him happy.
After the report, Dongfang Yi noticed Dongfang Ze's smile and found it strange. Those actions were so ordinary—what was so amusing?
"Sir, should we continue to monitor Miss Gu?"
"Keep monitoring," Dongfang Ze paused before adding, "By the way, her brother's away on a business trip. It's not safe for her to stay in that big house alone. Increase security, but make sure she doesn't notice."
Dongfang Yi replied respectfully, "Yes, sir."
Dongfang Ze clearly had feelings for Gu Tianyi, yet he insisted on this roundabout approach. Dongfang Yi found it particularly puzzling—why go through all this trouble when he could just tell her how he felt?
