C1 RUINED AT THE BUS STOP OF GREAT OPPORTUNITY

June in Nigeria is a month of great unpredictability as touching the issue of weather, in a twinkle of an eye a scotching sunny afternoon can suddenly turn into a stormy rain soaked one! You can wake up with a promise of friendly bright sky, but before you will step out to tap into its brightness for your business; the sky may turn into a pitch dark scary storm threatening one!

Omoyemi has been praying for over a week that this day will not bring that unpredictability, rather that it will be a day of stable sunshine all through; this because it is a day of the once in a lifetime opportunity that all men are seeking for him, which rainfall can hinder.

So, when he wake up seeing sun on the horizon rising it its full glory his heart brims over with joy and thanks unto God. He hastily rush through his preparation for the day and arrive before a mirror wearing an immaculate white suit! Checking himself in the mirror, he nods in appreciation of himself that he sees!

Seeing that all is well with him, he raise his voice and call his friend that he is sharing this apartment with with an excited voice, "Dan - Dan - Dan" he called him three times before he answered from his bedroom and stepped out still looking sleepy, when he saw Omoyemi he wiped his eyes with his hand unbelievingly!

Then he exclaimed, "Men, you look cool and fresh like a prince that I need to wipe my eyes to know that you are the one I am seeing! Who will see you and say you are not a CEO? Omoyemi answered him, " Quit your banter I am not in a mood for a joke this morning"

Dan answered firmly, "This not a banter, I am dead serious, you look glowing like one of those billionaires' heirs that we serve in the club. My friend you better pray that God should bless you with money that matches your look!"

If there is any prayer I need you to pray with me this money, it is that God should hold the sky steady with sunshine till I will get to the place of my final interview spotlessly clean" he answered Dan.

Swiftly, Dan jokingly move closer to him, pretending to be a priest, raise his hand and make a sign of the cross over his head and said, "Go, I have granted your wish, by my word there shall be no rain till you return to this house"

To this Omoyemi also jokingly shout amen and said, "The mouthpiece of God have spoken - that settles it!" He picked his file folder on the table and hug his friend goodbye; then he steeped out of the house.

He and Dan live in a village which is gradually turning into a small town because people from Lagos who could not afford the ever rising house rent in Lagos are overflowing into it.

Most of the people who overflow from Lagos into this place are those who come from all other States of the country to seek for better jobs in Lagos like Omoyemi and Dan.

This village is two hours journey to or from Lagos, and people go to Lagos every morning from this place to either search for jobs or to do their jobs, then they return so late at night to sleep in this village.

Fortunately for Omoyemi and dan, they got a job so close to this village and they don't have to travel two hours journey everyday like others to the place of work.

They got a job to work in an underground night club as waiters, this club belong to a group of young heirs of most of the billionaires in the country; the son of their landlord who works their linked them to this job.

Though they do not like this job because of the oppressive natures of most of those rotten billionaires' heirs, but they are enduring it because the pay is good and better than some of the jobs other people travel daily to do in some small companies I. Lagos.

While they are searching for a good, secured and well paying jobs, this job is helping greatly to keep their bodies and souls together, more so when they don't have to pay heavy transport fare to and from Lagos.

Had it been Omoyemi lives in Lagos, he would prefer to take a taxi to the place he is going now. But taxis don't run this route because the road is not good for low cars, only buses transport people to and fro in between Lagos and this village, and they are long buses that carries many passengers at once.

So Omoyemi boarded one of those buses, in the bus he carefully select the place he will seat, he sits in the middle of the bus because he believed sitting close to the door may mean passengets moving to and fro may rub on him and dirty his cloth.

To be more saved he chose empty seat and sits beside the window, believing that whoever sits beside him wiil shield him from getting dirty by the people moving up and down.

When they got to the next village a lady came in with a child in her hands, the child look so adorable! As the lady moved in closer to Omoyemi he looked at the child in her hands lovingly and smiled.

His smile attracted the lady to him and she decided to sit beside him. But no sooner had she taken this seat that Omoyemi began to regret drawing her to sit beside him with his warm smile; this because the child immediately began to try to climb unto his laps!

Omoyemi knew that if he allow this child to have his way he will dirty his white suit. So he began to tactically ward this child off and this did not go down well with the mother who was not sensitive to his concerns.

Soon tension grew between the two of them as both were looking for all means tactically to keep the baby away from Omoyemi without drawing the attention of the other passengers to their trouble; but the child would have non of it because he was stubbornness drawn to Omoyemi.

To create a gap of peace the lady shifted to the edge of the seat so that her baby's hand won't touch Omoyemi again. As they move on in the journey she with throw an annoyed and resentful glance toward Omoyemi and Omoyemi too looked grim.

His grim face made the lady to dislike him more and in her thought she began to call him handsome devil who cannot tolerate innocent baby!

As is if this cold silent war was not enough a headache for Omoyemi who is regretting making this lady uncomfortable, suddenly the weather also changed and become very cold with a promise of furious stormy rain!

Soon everywhere become so dark and rumbling heart piercing thunders began to crash through the sky and hearts of the passengers!

All of them in the bus trembled at the sound of the deafening thunder claps, but non of them trembles with fear like Omoyemi, because he knew if this threatening storm should find fulfilment he may not find fulfilment today!

So silently he began to pray looking more grim, the lady seeing his expression mistakenly believed he is still not happy because her baby touched his clothe; so she hate him more.

In her thought she asked, "What else does this devil me to do, I practically shifted to the edge of the seat for him, yet he squeezed his face like a demon that wants to consume the whole world!

While this was going on the rain began torrentially and Omoyemi was forced to change his prayers, that God will make it to stop before he will get to his destination which remain an hour of journey.

This prayer God answered when Omoyemi was almost out of his skin with worry, five more minutes to his bus stop the rain just suddenly stop completely!

Strangely his bus stop also was the lady's bus stop, the two of them called to tell the driver to stop for them at the bus stop

When the bus stopped, the lady sullenly moved aside for Omoyemi to pass while she hurriedly repacked herself and carried her baby properly..

Omoyemi got to the door and his heart jumped to his throat, because the road was totally covered with dirty muddy black water, so much that he could not see the road; and he stood their transfixed, thinking how he will step into that water without getting soiled.

Soon the lady came and began to grumbled behind him that he should move or give way, because of her complaints others in the bus too began to jeer him that he should get out and not hold them here till the rain will being again.

He stepped out of the way for the lady, when the lady too saw the road she pitied him because she knew he will surely get soiled. She dipped her hands into her bag, brought out a rubber slippers, removed her leather shoes and wore the rubber slippers; then she got down and carefully stepped up unto the roadside pave walk.

Omoyemi watched her when she got down and saw that the water was not really deep, so he too stepped out gingerly and climbed up unto the pave walk and he was not in any way soiled.

Though the lady did not like him, but she was happy for him and she forced herself to say to him when he saw the way he was checking himself, "There is no stain on you, I am glad for you!"

Omoyemi was glad for her initiative and took it as opportunity to make peace with her because he do not know where he may meet her again, so he said, "Thank you, and please forgive me for been itchy back there in the bus.

I am going for an interview and I don't want to be dirty, otherwise I would have helped you with your babe because he looked so cute!

The lady smiled and they made peace, then she curiously asked him, " But why on earth did you wear white for an interview in a season like this, don't you know that this season is so unpredictable?"

Omoyemi said, "If I have choice I won't, but the CEO of the company insist that we must come in white suit" The lady said, "Now I understand why you were so much on edge, that is a big test the man placed before you all, I wish you successful interview?"

Thank you Omoyemi said and he turned fully to face the road and to being the part two of his trial, because he must crossed this water logged road to the other side before he can go to the place of the interview.

Now the traffic was so thick, vehicles were moving bumper to bumper on the road, sometimes they will speed up and within few seconds their speed will reduce to a crawling pace.

Just when Omoyemi was thinking of how he will manage to cross without been hit or splashed with the black dirty waters that covered the road a car broke down directly in his front and stopped moving; the car held back all other vehicles in its back.

Omoyemi saw this as opportunity to quickly cross, he stepped unto the parking lane without checking because he believed no vehicle will leave the main lane to run through the parking lane.

Just when his foot landed on this lane, a Lamborghini whose driver was in hurry crazily swerved out of the lane into the parking lane with furious speed, Omoyemi almost saw it too late and he would have been knocked down flat in the muddy water.

On instinct he jumped forward into the middle lane with shocked and he was saved. The Lamborghini ran through the place he jumped away from and splashed all his back with black water. The lady with baby in her hands almost drop her baby in shock for his life!

She turned her head because she believed the Lamborghini would certainly crushed him and she could not wash him crush to death. But by the time she opened her eyes, she saw that the Lamborghini did not crush him, but he was covered from head to toe in mud water.

In that split second while she still watch, another vehicle in the middle lane that its driver did not see Omoyemi because the diver swerved out of the last lane into the middle lane that at that moment was moving was coming straight at him.

Omoyemi was engrossed with his dress that was ruined and he was momentarily unconscious of where he stands, if not for this lady he would have been knocked down, but in the knick of time the lady shouted, "Hey, watch out!"

In a flash like a fast forward scene in a movie, Omoyemi jumped back without thinking, the car drove pass, but it splashed him all over with black water.

He staggered and almost fall flat on his back but he managed to balance himself up. Then he checkec himself all over, what he saw was too much for words! The next thing he did was to look at the parking lane to see if he can still see the the Lamborghini that caused all these.

And as God will have it, the Lamborghini was not given opportunity to meander back into the main lane by other vehicle and it was there in front behind another car that broke down in the rain and was pushed into the parking lane.

Seeing this situation, Omoyemi ran with insane anger towards it for vengeance, when he got to the car he banged it violently, and ran to the side to open and draw the driver out for a fight.

Meanwhile the car was driven by a lady of about twenty years of age, she was so pretty and gorgeously dressed, she had seen Omoyemi in the rearview mirror running towards her, so she was not surprised when he banged the car like a maniac!

But when he saw him moved to the side and was trying to open the door, she annoyingly press the central lock key and shoot out her tongue to mess Omoyemi.

Omoyemi bent down when he could not open the door and he saw this pretty girl not sobber for what she has done, instantly her face was imprinted into his memory. The lady too saw his face and his face got stock in her memory.

Omoyemi was beside himself seeind this non repentant girl, he moved to cross to the driver side with intention to break the glass. But just when he got to the back of the car a space was created in the main lane.

Like a pro, the girl put the car in super reverse and knocked Omoyemi down face flat into the muddy black water, he was instantly soaked through and through all over!

But at that split second been soaked ceased been his concern, he believed the girl is going to crush him to death and he screamed in horror!

An inch to his head, the tire screeched to a halt and the car swerved out into the lane and zoomed off! Omoyemi sood up looking like a person picked from the dump site and stepped back unto the pave walk.

All these happened within a minute of two, just like that the day that started as a day of once in a lifetime opportunity was destroyed at the bus stop!

The lady with that cute baby saw it all, she stood there shaking in sorrow for what just happened to Omoyemi. At first she did not know whether to walk up to him or to stand where he was, but when he saw that Omoyemi was crying he came to him.

When she got to where he was, without minding the people cooking at them or her own dress, with the baby in her hard she just wrap her hand around him and whispers in his ear, "Man may not be able to find reason for this thing, but dear God knows!"
