C22 THE JITTERY PRISON BOSS EXPOSED POSCOE'S CLUB 2

EAVESDROPPING

The moment they stepped away from the reception, Bori brought out his phone, plug an earpiece into it and put it into his ear and he instantly heard every sound coming from the reception area clearly.

At the moment the lady who is the head at the reception was talking to their boss, she said,

"No sir, they refused to write the purpose of their visit....., What do you say sir?

Yes when I insist they threatened that they will ask the governor to talk to you again, so to avoid trouble I allowed them to enter......

You mean what I feel about them? I think they are special investigators from the police attached to the governor,... Yes, they are probably here to talk to a prisoner"

The lady boss at the reception continued on and on discussing with her boss and she was completely unaware that Bori was listening to her discussion with her boss.

Though he could not hear what her boss was saying to her on the phone, but through the words of the lady he could guess what her boss was saying to her on the other side of the phone.

SHOCK ON HIS FACE

Soon the guy leading them to the boss brought them to a door and knocked, when the boss asked them to come in he ushered Bori and Osbert in and he went back to the reception.

The boss was a fat bellied man, he stood up to welcome them since he knew they are from the state governor, then he offered them seats and said,

"Gentle men of the uniform you are welcome, Please have your seats, I am all ears, the governor said you will tell me the reason he sent you to me, I hope there is no problem?"

"Sir, I am Bori and here with me is my partner, his name is Osbert, we are from the police tactical unit, a unit that handles special investigations that have to do with the peace of the state and the nation at large, we have a letter from the governor for you"

"What is the letter about?"

Bori brought out the letter, stretch it to him and said,

"Here it is, read it yourself and you will know what it is all about sir"

He gave the letter to him and the two of them watch his face intently As he read the letter. While he was reading the letter his countenance changed from shock to apprehension and his hand was shaking.

With the way Bori and Osbert were looking at him they knew that this man knew something about how Orikore was was exchanged with another person and left for Ghana.

When the prison boss finished reading the letter he was sweating on his forehead and Bori asked him,

"Sir, can we see the guy in this letter, we have some critical questions to ask him?"

With a shaky voice the man asked

"What question do you want to ask him?"

When Bori wanted to answer him he chose to be more mysterious as he said,

"Sir, it bothers on the security of the nation as I said earlier, since you will be there when we are asking him the questions we were sent to ask him, do we need to first tell you the questions?"

Seeing that Bori chose not to relieve his curious mind with answers he became more worried and with stutter he said,

"Em - em - em, you are actually right, but the reason I ask is because this guy you want to talk to is no longer in this very facility, he has been transferred"

He said this with hope that Bori will tell him why they want to see Orikore, but Bori has made up his mind not to tell him.

"Transferred? By whose authority was he transferred, because I do not think the state knew about this transfer? And where was he transferred to?"

"Em - em, you see, I really cannot answer all these questions at this moment, but I think the order to transfer him came from above and I don't know where he was transferred to"

"You don't know where he was transferred to?" How can you not know where such important national prisoner was transferred to, did the authority who ordered his transfer not back it a with letter? Please can we see his file" Bori asked

The man become more panicky when he heard this question and he said,

"His file - his file, I think they left with his file when they came"

"What about the letter they sent to you?"

"You see I made a mistake then while we were preparing to move him, I by mistake placed the letter they sent into his file and they left with it"

Osbert hissed when he heard this and said,

"This is serious, you don't know where he was transferred to? Did you not read the letter before you mistakenly placed it in his file? Should we tell the governor and the national police headquarters what you are telling us now?"

"Haa! Please don't tell them, please give me time to sort things out"

Bori asked him

"Give you time till when? Since you said the order came from above why don't you call your superior now so that we can be sure"

"Call the above? I can't, oh no I mean I don't have the number"

Bori acted like he was been frustrated with the way this man is talking, he exhaled, put his head on the table and tapped the table with his left hand.

Meanwhile, he just pretentiously used this moment to plant the type of eavesdropping bug that Osbert sticked to the reception desk under the man's desk. Osbert knew what he was doing and used the moment to mount pressure on the man so that he won't look at Bori, he asked,

"You don't have your boss number and you ask us to give you time to sort things out, how will you do it?"

"I do not mean that I don't have my boss number, what I meant to say is that I do not have it on this particular phone. You know I don't usually call my boss, it is him who usually call me: that is why I..."

As he was answering Bori has finished planting the bug under his table, he just stood up and cut him off and said,

"Osbert, forget it, he is under authority, let us give him time to sort things out"

The man exhaled in relief and said,

"Thank you!"

"But sir, this case is urgent, I know you are under authority just like us and we will not give you problem. So we will not return to our own boss to report what you told us today.

But if we come back tomorrow morning and you have no proper answer for us; then we will report what we saw and heard to our headquarters"

"Thank you for your understanding, I will definitely have answer for you before tomorrow morning"

With this assurance both Bori and Osbert moved out of his office, when they got back to the reception they stopped briefly at the reception to chat with the lady who answered them when they were going in. Osbert used this moment to remove the pin bug he planted under the desk and they went out.

When they got to their car, the two of them switch on a radio phone in the car and they began to listen clearly to the prison boss who was trying to make a phone call to someone who is not picking his call. In frustration he shouted,

"This bastard won't pick his phone, what rubbish is this now? Anyway, if you will not pick the call then you can't blame me if I come in the broad daylight to meet you at the club.

Fire is burning on the roof now all your rules of don't come to me during daylight does not hold water. I must see you on this Orikore's matter"

When he finished saying this he called somebody at the gate and asked if Bori and Osbert has gone?

The guy at the gate told him that they are in their car but they are still at the gate talking in their car. The boss told the guy that immediately they leave the gate he must inform him.

While he was talking he did not know that Bori and Osbert were listening to him. The moment they heard that he said he wanted to go and meet someone over Bori's case they drove away from the gate so that he could come out and they will follow him.
