C17 Lu Sinian I Never Owe You Anything
Qiao Jing felt a deep sadness seeing her friend like this. "Let's not talk about it now. Maybe... maybe you and Sinian can work things out?"
Qiao Jing had always disliked Sinian, but at this moment, she found herself hoping he would fall in love with Shi Qing. If they reconciled, Shi Qing wouldn't have to lose this child.
"No! I can't accept that," Shi Qing growled.
She wished this was just a cruel joke from fate. Why did this have to happen just when she had decided to start anew?
Hearing this, Qiao Jing was at a loss for words. She knew that if Shi Qing chose not to keep the baby, she would regret it for the rest of her life.
After Shi Qing's IV treatment, Qiao Jing took her home. She insisted on staying with Shi Qing, but Shi Qing just wanted to be alone.
"I'll give you the space you need to calm down, but please, Shi Qing, don't do anything rash. Whatever you decide, I'll be here for you," Qiao Jing said, hugging her tightly before leaving.
The room fell silent again. Shi Qing sat on the couch, feeling utterly drained, holding the pregnancy report in her hand.
The firm decision she made at the hospital wavered as she looked at the paper again.
Inside her was a living being, her child.
Shi Qing closed her eyes in anguish. She didn't want to face any of this, but she knew she had to make a decision.
After hesitating for a long time, she decided she should tell Lu Sinian about it.
She pulled out her phone and stared at that familiar number for a while. Finally, Shi Qing dialed it, but as soon as it rang once, she quickly hung up and impulsively blocked Lu Sinian.
The moment she heard the ringing, Shi Qing instinctively decided not to tell Lu Sinian. Even if he found out, she couldn't imagine any response other than mockery or offering her money to handle it.
She tossed her phone aside and leaned back on the couch, staring blankly at the ceiling.
About five minutes later, her phone rang. It was an unknown number.
"Hello, who is this?" she answered weakly.
A familiar voice immediately came through the receiver: "You called me? What's up?"
It was Lu Sinian. He didn't ask why she had blocked him.
Shi Qing was at a loss for words; everything she had prepared to say got stuck in her throat, and she didn't know how to begin.
Lu Sinian didn't rush her, but he asked again, "Today, Lu Xin came to my place saying you wanted to harm her and that I gave you money to open 'Like Dream.' What's going on?"
Shi Qing was all too familiar with this tone. Lu Sinian always spoke to her as if discussing business. She had no hope of hearing anything different, and she decided to keep this secret to herself forever.
"You should ask her what she did, and what Lu Xin and your mom have done to me over these three years," Shi Qing retorted, her words sharp as knives. "Lu Sinian, I never owed your family anything, so you better remind Lu Xin to stop bothering me."
Lu Sinian had just returned from a business meeting. The empty house offered no warm welcome, and no one was there to pour him a glass of warm water. When he saw Shi Qing's call, something stirred inside him. He was about to answer when the call ended, prompting him to borrow a phone from the housekeeper.
It seemed Shi Qing had completely shut him out of her world.
"And what about 'Like Dream'? Where did you get the money?" he asked.
Shi Qing let out a derisive laugh. "Don't worry, it's not from your family."
Her cold response led to a long silence between them. Shi Qing had nothing more to say and was ready to hang up.
"Wait! Is there really nothing you want to tell me?" Lu Sinian blurted out as he heard her about to end the call.
Shi Qing paused for a moment. "No."
Staring at the disconnected call, Lu Sinian felt a wave of frustration. He was usually good at controlling his emotions, but right now, he was at a loss. A place like "Like Dream" wasn't something you could set up with just a little cash; it required connections. He couldn't fathom how Shi Qing had managed it.
He suddenly realized he didn't know Shi Qing at all. She was like a breeze that had briefly passed through his life, now blowing in a different direction.
