C4 CHAPTER 4: HONEYMOON

CHAPTER 4: HONEYMOON

It exhausted Alyssa from interacting with those who attended their wedding; she stretched her legs one at a time to ease the pain while sitting on the bed. She even massaged her ankles as it hurts so much when she stood for a long time earlier in the wedding while wearing high heels. Alyssa has finished massaging her ankles. Slowly, she took off her wedding dress to change into an ordinary one.

She looked around to find her suitcase, but it was not in the room. She was looking into the nook of the room only half-naked, speculating that Leonard’s men kept it somewhere there but failed to find it.

She tried to reckon where she put it when she remembered that one of her husband’s bodyguards got it and put it in his car. She thought his bodyguard had already put her luggage in the room, but it was not there, so she had no choice but to open her husband’s closet to borrow at least one of his t-shirts.

Upon opening it, she saw so many expensive clothes and they were signature ones. She was amazed that most of the designs had different colors, and others were still unused and had tags in them.

It was her first time seeing a so-called walk-in closet, and for her, it’s indeed overwhelming. It looks like a boutique. Wherein most of the fashionable clothes and accessories you will find.

Luckily she saw a black silk sleeveless nighties dress for ladies drop above the knee, so she wore it. The good thing is it suits her well and seems prepared for her to wear.

Looking at her body in the mirror impressed her. She never knew that she had an outstanding figure until today. It was her first time wearing something like that.

Observing the curve of her body in the mirror, the door in the room opened. It was her husband, Leonard, who entered the room. He was staring at her. Upon seeing what Alyssa was wearing, his expression suddenly changed into something like a monster.

He came near her with his eyes glazed in anger and yelled at her. “Who gave you the right to wear that dress?!”

Afraid of his glaring eyes, Alyssa could not even utter a single word at all. Fear dominates Alyssa!

“Speak, you woman!!! What?! Does your tongue get cut?!” he forced Alyssa to speak as he emphatically held her arm.

“I-I’m sorry if I wore this, but I can’t find the suitcase that gave me no choice but to borrow one of your clothes. Then I saw this.” She cried upon answering.

He still clung tightly to her arm as she writhed in pain. He noticed she was hurting, which made him loosen his grip on her arm and calm himself.

“Next time, never dare touch my things without my permission, and one more thing, if you think that I’ll sleep with you tonight, well that will never happen, maybe in your dreams! You sly woman! If you think I didn’t know your objectives, well, you’re wrong! I know everything about you. You’re only after the wealth of my grandpa! To successfully attain it, you agreed to marry me, but haven’t you thought you might destroy someone’s relationship because of your actions? You are selfish!” he said furiously.

Alyssa thought her husband was right. She was indeed selfish. She didn’t realize that her impulsive decisions could ruin the life of someone, but what can she do? If what should not happen has already happened, her grandma’s life depends on it. That left her no choice, so she just sat on the floor and cried.

*****

It was late at night while Leonard was still wide awake drinking wine on the terrace of their house, thinking about what he did to his new wife. It’s not his nature to hurt a woman, but he could not restrain himself because of the hatred he felt for the woman he married. He was blaming her for agreeing to marry him. He has this thought, ‘That if only that woman refuses the offer of his grandpa, and then maybe he wouldn’t have been in a tight situation and might not be forced by his grandpa to marry her.’

He was deeply in love with someone. But his grandpa hated his woman’s family, which made his grandpa disagree with their relationship. But even though his grandfather had not agreed to their relationship before, he still did not force him to separate until the woman he married came. His grandpa changed his mind and threatened to disinherit him if he disagreed, which left him with no choice but to obey his grandpa.

He was the CEO of his grandpa’s company. He spent most of his time making it grow, and it’s the reason he couldn’t afford to lose it instantly. His grandfather was kind and let them do what they wanted. But since his parents got brutally murdered, it became more protective and strict with them. That is why he can’t blame him.

“I thought that when on a wedding day, you would be the happiest man on earth, but why the opposite? Why do you seem to mourn as if someone you love died?” his younger brother Ethan Lee teased him.

Leonard put his glass of wine on the table near him. He turned to his brother. “What do you think? What do you want me to do? Celebrate my wedding; at last, I’ll be marrying a woman I didn’t know?! When my woman was hurting, knowing that his man married another woman?!” he responded to his brother sarcastically as he continued sipping his wine.

His younger brother smirks at him, sitting opposite him with his right hand stretched widely on the chair.

“So, what’s your plan?”

“I’ll make a contract that in one year, I’ll annul our marriage.”

“What about her? Don’t you think she will agree?” his brother asked him seriously.

“Of course, she will because she can’t refuse my offer like I’ll give her money and business. She won’t be at a loss for that, but if she disagrees, then her life will be hell!” Leonard answered his brother furiously, clenching his right hand holding the glass of wine.

*****

Alyssa was extremely anxious as she lay on the bed. She couldn’t sleep, thinking about the glaring eyes of her husband because it was the opposite of what it showed on their wedding day when he was so good to her and caring. Alyssa felt that anytime the man Alyssa married would strangle her to death while asleep because of hatred. She cried even more, thinking about what had happened and blaming herself, why she never thought of such things before she agreed to get married to him.

Upon changing position on the bed, the door in the room where she lay slowly opened. It made her tremble in fear again, thinking that it might be her husband, so she thought of pretending to sleep while quietly alerting herself that if ever her husband would attack her, she could dodge.

Leonard was slowly walking towards his bed. He is tipsy because of the wine he drank. Leonard sits on the bed and looks at his sleeping wife. He felt sorry for her because of what he had done. His emotion only drove him. He wanted to touch her to say sorry, but his pride prevailed. He lay down beside her and turned his back to her. Then he falls asleep.

While Alyssa waited until her husband fell asleep, she slowly opened her eyes to take a peep. Her husband was beside her. She slowly bent her body to look at him to make sure he was sound asleep. Indeed, her husband was already sleeping. She carefully lay down beside him and turned her back on him, and just like her husband, she fell asleep.
