C5 Need to Run
As they were walking outside, he told her to pay attention to where they were heading so she could find her way to the beach. When they arrived, he guided her to a blanket near a fire pits which were loaded with some logs for the fire. He figured he would woo her a little bit so that she could be distracted from heading to the forest to run.
They sat down on the beach where one of the bon fires was burning for the guests to enjoy the night life of the island. They stared up at the sky with all the glistening stars shinning bright. Wade made a game out of it with her testing to see if she knew where the big dipper, little dipper and Orion celestials were along with many others. She played his game and turned to him to test his knowledge of how each one came to be.
This went on for many hours until she started yawning and started to doze off. He picked her up bridal style and carried her inside to their suite. When they entered, he stripped her down and put a shirt on that belonged to him. She snuggled under the covers and started to snore lightly. He marveled at how her body looked and wanted to curl her up to his chiseled body and bask in her essence.
He did not allow himself to have these thoughts as he has a mate who is tucked away in the prison cells along with her pack members and some of the other pack who came to help them fight. There were a few that was trying to break free so they could get help. But that would not be of any help, and they knew it so they decided to lay low for now until help would arrive. He zones out remembering his mate and how delectable she looked.
He starts to remember when he first arrived at their pack for which Merric invited him for dinner. This was his plan all along so that he could get the lay of the land, know how many warriors patrolled the perimeters and how often they did, if there any gaps, which place would be the best to attack. Sure, he wanted to invest in the Gym so that he and his family could infiltrate the pack a little more.
He had it all figured out except for the one thing he was not accounting for, his fated mate, Izzy. She was not a fan of him being in the pack specially for dinner. She had a bad feeling about him and linked her father about his aura. Morrigan also felt the same as Izzy since they are both witches and she too told Merric that he has ill intentions towards them.
Merric did not dismiss either of their worries and he knew what he was doing but hoped that nothing would come of it. He kept Jacob and Shelby out of the pack for a good reason, Shelby was going to take over the pack and Jacob was going to be the beta. Izzy and Orien would be the gammas. This is how he wanted it, and this is how it would be. This information was left unsaid to Wade for the simple reason, he needed someone to pick up the pieces if there was an attack.
Once Wade left, Morrigan looked at him that would turn a troll to dust. Merric just smirked at her holding her hand advising why he did it this way. He saw the future of the pack and knew what was going to happen, so he had to make his two eldest leave to ensure their safety. He knew Shelby would figure out what happened and prayed to the goddess most of his pack lived.
Wad could not shake the feeling after the dinner that Merric knew what was going to happen but shook it off. When he saw Izzy, his world stopped moving and he wanted to take her in his arms to protect her, but he was going to have to reject her no matter what the consequences was. He did not like this but was forced to help take out some shifter packs and bring back some who survived.
Shelby snorted and started to laugh in her sleep which brought him out of his reverie. He smiled at her and gave her a small kiss on the forehead turning to walk away. He hated that he was using her just to pacify his family and knew if he kept her here longer than intended, he just may give in and make love to her. He shivered at that thought thinking he could not do this to her knowing he has a mate there on the island which he had to tend to.
He went back outside to sit by the fire pits once again and noticed several people still sharing the pits. Some making smore’s and having an enjoyable time getting all the ooey gooey goodness. He decided to partake in the small gestures the people were asking him to join. Only three knew who he was but made sure they smelt like humans which would throw him off who they are.
Suddenly there was a scream in the nearby woods and the guests jumped at the sound. The scream was a person who was being chased by one of the vampire guards, capturing the person. As they captured the human, he turned into his wolf form and howled, snarling, snapping at the guard. There was a sound of gun going off killing the wolf. The guard hung him up on the wooden like cross gutting him and left him there as a warning to the others.
He took a picture of his prey sending a snap to Wade so he could show off his trophy. Wade took out his phone and viewed it but did not make a sound, but he was pissed that this guy would do this while there are still humans up and remarkably close by. One of the guests was sitting by him who just happened to glance over at his phone taking in the view at the dead body.
Tristen was livid as he knew that person was the shifter, and he was the one who had just screamed and howled. He knew they were in the right place at the right time where Wade and his family had their prisoners, and he could not wait to lead the rescue mission now. But he had to get more information before this happened.
Wade would handle this later in the morning as he could not leave the bon fire at this moment to handle the guard. It would raise suspensions against him. After all the smore’s were consumed everyone dispersed to their suites or bungalows for some sleep. Wade put the fire out and headed back inside to watch over his so-called wife while drinking some expensive whiskey straight from the bottle. He wanted to forget what just happened.
