Ava picked up her purse from the passenger seat and got out, slamming the car door shut. She’d been in a sour mood since the weekend after Luke had utterly surprised her with his outburst.

She hadn’t been able to take it, staying in the same space with him, so she’d picked some of her clothes and gone to lodge at a hotel. She couldn’t understand what had come over him
