C10 She Was More of a Mother To Me

"She's here in his car?" Although she knew that Yu Mo had plans in marrying Mo Jingyao, Yu Se had never expected that she'd stake her claim that quickly. And here she thought that all the articles were just plain rumors. 'She really did seal the deal,' she thought, suppressing the urge to roll her eyes. Oh, how the tables had turned. After refusing to marry him while he was on his deathbed, she started parading around his things like a dog while he was in a coma. Her hypocrisy was far too evident in her actions, at least, for Yu Se, given that she knew exactly what had happened in the past week.

The nerve of her!

While she looked annoyed with her sister's arrival, the same couldn't be said with the entire student body. The other boys swooned at the sight of Yu Mo's graceful features, and the other girls could only stare in envy. Although Yu Se was sick of her presence, even she had to admit that her sister was a sight to behold. With her soft gaze and bright smile, she could see why she was able to draw everyone's attention towards her–like a moth to a flame. "She's so beautiful," one of them gasped out.

"Of course she is," the other girl hissed in disapproval, smacking her friend. "She's Mo Jingyao's fiancé! Do you think he'd pick someone ugly?"

"Maybe we could ask Yu Se to get her brother-in-law's autograph."

"Oh my gosh, imagine the opportunities!"

The library door opened once more, and everybody had fallen silent. Immediately, their attention diverted from the books and towards the two sisters, as if they were watching another episode of Lifetime TV. Their hands were clasped together in anticipation as they leaned over their desk, waiting to listen in to their conversation. Even Yu Se had to roll her eyes at the sight.

Yu Mo didn't need to read minds to know what all of them were think and how all of them had regarded her. Although she had been quite respected back when she was still studying on the campus, it wasn't to this extent. Truly, being engaged to Mo Jingyao had its benefits. A small smile curved into her lips before it quickly vanished when she realized the reason as to why she was here.

If Mo Jingyao wasn't in a coma, or if the Mo family hadn't insisted in picking Yu Se up, she wouldn't have come here in the first place.

"Yu Se," she said after a moment's hesitation. "I'm taking you home."

Everyone in the world had already regarded her as Mo Jingyao's fiancé, so she didn't see a reason to be hesitant around Yu Se. Tilting her head upwards, she regarded her sister with her steely gaze, and her words became cold. They had never been on good terms, and now that this had happened, it seemed that their relationship had been torn even further apart.

But that didn't matter. This would only take a while, anyway. Once Yu Se was able to wake him up, they wouldn't have to see each other again.

"Came here to threaten me?" Yu Se smirked.

If Luo Wanyi had decided to send her sister here, then she must've had came here with a threat held right between her teeth. After all, Yu Se wasn't going to back down that easily. They weren't back at home anymore, and the library was open grounds. The older woman's eyes twitched in response, but she slowly returned her mocking smile. "You know me too well, don't you?"

"Well, I guess you know the rules." Lowering her voice enough that no one could hear her, Yu Mo tossed a picture onto the table and bowed her head. "If you wouldn't come with me, then I hope you enjoy this video of Rongrong being spread around. Do you really think I wouldn't go this low? Perhaps, the only one here who'll end up regretting her decision...is you, sister."

"You–" Yu Se sputtered out in disgust. Although she knew that her sister wouldn't come empty-handed, she didn't think that Yu Mo would go below-the-belt. It seemed that she had underestimated her.

Duan Rongong was her aunt's daughter.

Chen Meishu and Yu Jing'an had never intended to have a fourth child, and when she was born, Chen Meishu had gone through every length to try and end her life as quickly as possible. It was Chen Meijiao who had taken her from her mother's hands and took care of her. She was the one who had watched her grow up, and she was the only one who had ever cared for her in that family.

If it weren't for the fact that her aunt had gotten married, Chen Meishu and Yu Jing'an would've already given Yu Se to her as if she was just a piece of furniture meant to be passed around.

However, she wouldn't have minded.

In fact, truth me told, Chen Meijiao had acted more as a mother than her actual mother.

Yu Mo had known about this, and she had used this exact information to threaten her about it.

"Now, shall we go? Or would you prefer to stay?" Not giving her another chance to answer, Yu Mo reached out to grab her sister's arms and was about to leave. "You really shouldn't underestimate me, sis."

Yu Se slowly got up from her table, hugging her notebooks against her chest. At the sight of Yu Mo's smug look, she could only smile faintly in response. "There are just some things in this world that you'd have to fight for, but there would come a time, that no matter what you do, you'll never be able to get what you want," she murmured, low enough that her sister wouldn't be able to hear.

She may have won this time around, but sooner or later, Yu Mo would have a taste of her own medicine.

Once they were already seated, the Bugatti Veyron drove down the streets, going farther away from Qimei Middle School.

Yu Se continued reading, even under the dim lighting. With no one around to watch over them except for the driver at the front, Yu Mo finally revealed her true colors. Sneering at her sister's actions, she continued to swipe down her phone, as if she was the only one in the car. They had never gotten along, and she certainly wasn't going to extend an olive branch now.

Half an hour later, they had finally arrived.

As soon as they had stepped out of the car, one of the servants immediately approached her. "Third Miss Yu," she greeted Yu Se and led her into the main hall of the villa. "Please, follow me."

Yu Mo's face darkened. The servants had respected her back then, and now that she had brought Yu Se, it seemed that they had started to ignore her.

Not bothering to say a word, she stomped right behind them.

Yu Se, however, paid no heed to her sister's tantrum. Instead, as she found herself the object of their stairs, she couldn't help but be a little overwhelmed. Her eyes swept across the room, finally landing on the old lady who was standing in the middle. "Excuse me," she said and lowered her head in respect. "Where's Director Luo? I was told that she was looking for me."
