C17 A Thought

Yu Se had never really worn red before. The last time she had was back when both of them were buried alive, but even before that, she had always strayed away from bright colors. There was just something about the fabric she had on that commanded the attention of the entire room, and for someone who lived on the sidelines her entire life, this certainly didn't make her any more comfortable. Plus, she didn't think that the color red would suit her. That was, until now. As she twisted and turned around the mirror, she couldn't help but feel pleased with her appearance. She looked young and beautiful, like a nineteen-year-old ready to explore the world.

The anger she had felt initially from changing into a new set of clothes had already dissipated.

Just as she was about to get her books, she also noticed how they were already neatly packed inside her backpack. "Had someone gone inside last night to fix all of this?" Her eyebrows furrowed together as she placed her bag onto the edge of the bed, observing it quietly.

Not knowing much about luxury brands, she thought that the backpack was just any other bag that could be spotted in a shopping mall. Tossing it around her back, she noticed how the light blue hue contrasted sharply with the rosy texture of her suit. Although the two colors jumped in different spectrums, there was a certain beauty that came with the contrasting colors, one that made her smile. Well, whoever, fixed this up obviously had some fashion sense.

As she turned to leave, she took a step back and pinched Mo Jingyao's face.

"For the sake of my new backpack, I wouldn't speak up on the fact that your mother had locked me up here last night," she conceded immediately, knowing fully well that she couldn't change the past. "But I will be asking the total amount it cost for all these clothes and ask for them to be deducted from my salary. I hope you know that I can't be bought, Mo Jingyao. And I especially hate the idea of being forced to do something I don't want. If you wake up and follow in your mom's footsteps, I swear I'll knock those perfectly lined teeth from your mouth!"

The man didn't argue back.

She took it as him agreeing with her.

Without another word, Yu Se turned around and strode straight out the door.

At first, she thought that she wouldn't be able to open it once again, but as she turned the handle lightly, the door immediately swung open. It was as if all her trials from that night were nothing but a concoction of her own imagination. "Although I wouldn't fight his mom, that doesn't mean I wouldn't say a few words to her," she muttered. The last thing she wanted was to make this a recurring habit in the household. Just because that woman was rich as hell didn't mean that she should free pass to do whatever she wanted!

However, before she could find and settle her score with the older woman, she saw two rows of maids and butlers waiting for her outside the corridor. The head steward stepped forward. "Miss Yu, would you like to have some breakfast?"

"Is Director Luo here?" She raised her eyebrow.

"Director Luo has left for work early in the morning, but she had instructed us to wait on you if ever you need any help," he replied. "We understand that Miss Yu's earliest class today is held later tonight, so at that time, Director Luo has instructed us to let you leave whenever you want."

"Really? So you wouldn't be locking me in again?"

"Yes."

"Hm..." Instead of saying anything else, Yu Se entered the elevator and head to the dining area in the first floor.

The Mo Family estate was a thousand hectares of land, with one villa meant for each family. Each villa had around two to three guest rooms and a master bedroom. The place where Mo Jingyao was staying was actually the main house. Although all of them were in separate villas, the families still share the same amenities like a pool and a gym at the back. She actually had to be thankful for the maids following her around, else she wouldn't know how to navigate her way around the household.

The old lady usually resided in her own villa, but the older she had gotten, the more she felt the need to see her children and grandchildren. That was why she'd eat in the main house on Mondays and Thursdays to be with Luo Wanyi, in the second house on Tuesdays and Fridays, and in the third house Wednesdays and Saturdays. She'd usually spend the Sundays on her own, and if not, she'd spend it with the entire family.

When Yu Se had arrived yesterday, that was one of the days when Grandma had chosen to eat at the main house.

Today, however, was different.

As Yu Se stared at the long table, she could see that the seats around her were empty. Even then, there were still multiple dishes placed across the table, looking incredibly delectable and delicious. Although her intestines were still damaged, her stomach couldn't help but grumble in approval. Picking up her chopsticks, she glanced one of the butlers.

"Will it be just me?"

"Yes, Director Luo has gone to the company," the butler reiterated. "Miss Mo has gone abroad."

"How about Yu Mo?" Yu Se didn't forget her sister. The thought of the woman made her scowl.

Yu Se was the one who had risked her own life for Mo Jingyao, and Yu Mo was the one sweeping in her rewards. The woman had strutted across the streets, reveling in her title as his fiancé. The woman's face was far thicker than the city walls. The audacity of her to order her around back then. Her face contorted into that of disgust and frustration, but they were quickly concealed.

"Miss Yu had gone back her Yu Family residence last night."

"What?" She blinked. "Why?"

"I..." The butler stuttered for a long time, before raising his head to glance at the direction of Mo Jingyao's room. "I–I'm...I don't know."
