C2 A Man with Skin as Thick as Clotted Oil

The coffin was very large. In fact, it would've been an equivalent of a queen-sized bed. All that was meeting was a mattress, and perhaps the comfort that came along with sleeping on one. Instead, all she could feel was terror and defeat. They rushed through her veins as if she was dipping into lava, but no matter how hard she slammed against the covers, it was no use. She was done for!

Her head rested on a red pillow, absorbing the blood streaming down her forehead like a towel. At this point, Yu Se might as well pray that she'd bleed to death rather than be buried with him alive. Her hands clenched into fists as she gritted her teeth. 'Damn them all to hell,' she cursed at the back of her mind.

She turned to look at the man beside her, staring at his long eyelashes and pale cheeks.

Even in death, he still looked handsome.

A part of her had initially thought that she would be scared of him, terrified of dying next to a dead man. However, upon taking him in, she found her fingers moving upward, grazing against his jaw. It was weird to see the dead up close, but he didn't seem dead–at least, not to her. Her eyes narrowed

His skin was cold to touch. As the sweat and blood from her fingertips glided against the powder caked across his features, the softness of his skin was replaced with a slimy texture–one that had made her stomach stir even more uncomfortably. "Hm," she made a noise, inching backward.

Yu Se had originally thought that his good looks were due to the makeup, but it seemed she was mistaken.

"You must've liked me when you were alive, didn't you?" She crossed her arms, muttering to herself. A bitter undertone coated her voice, and she tried to keep the disdain from her glare. "Otherwise, why would you've brought me along even after death? It's your fault that I'm in this situation, you bastard! Just you wait, I'll freaking bite you in the afterlife!"

Suddenly, the red coffin creaked around her, and she could feel her entire body trembling from the force. Her hands immediately clutched the walls surrounding them, and she could feel it moving. Although she couldn't hear much, she could make out some string instruments in the background with the harsh winds whistling as an accompaniment.

Mo Jingyao swayed slightly as the coffin continued to shake. At this point, she could already imagine that they were being held up by a lever, accompanying them deep into the ground. "No," she murmured to herself repeatedly, subconsciously kicking the door above her, but it still wouldn't budge.

If the coffin had fallen into the pit, then that meant that the others would start digging. Soon enough, their entire surroundings would be covered in dirt, and that's when they'd build a tomb to honor the 'newly-wedded couple'. Anxiety crept up to her chest. Suddenly, the large coffin didn't seem so large anymore.

Within a few hours, cement would be pouring into the coffin, and surrounding them would be chunks of expensive marble.

At that point, Yu Se would've already suffocated to death.

As the tomb shook a bit more, Mo Jingyao's tie had become loose, revealing a necklace resting on his chest. Despite the looming darkness above them, she could still make out the glinting shape of the expensive jade, and she immediately froze. 'Could it be?' Her fingers trembled, and her eyebrows furrowed.

Before she could even say anything, the jade fell onto her palm, and she grabbed a hold of it. The 'swastika' shape looked incredibly familiar, as if she had seen it before.

The jade glimmered in her direction, and Yu Se blinked. It had taken her around two seconds, before she finally figured out where she had seen that from.

She lifted up the sleeves of her red wedding dress, ignoring the way the fabric had slid down to her wrist. There, under the little glimmer of light, was her own birthmark. Her fingers trailed across her own skin, and she froze.

It was the swastika birthmark.

As soon as the jade had fallen onto the same spot, she found herself even more stupefied at the sight.

The jade had fallen onto her birthmark so perfectly. It was as if the jeweler had seen her birthmark and made the exact same measurements to match her. 'What the hell was going on?' Her eyes were simply trained at the necklace, feeling as if all the air had been drawn out from her lungs.

At that moment, she froze. An electric current as light and quick as the spring wind coursed through her entire body, as if finally jolting her awake.

Immediately, a thousand scriptures flashed across her mind along with the staggering current.

Astronomical geography.

The Holy Book of Medicine

The Internal Chakra

The Art of Acupuncture.

Yu Se blinked.

It was as if the universe was trying to tell her something. Her fingers fell flat on the jade necklace. Suddenly, the cold air became hotter by the second, and the warm current rushing from her birthmark through her entire body became even more intense. She shuddered, squeezing her eyes shut.

The warm sensation was getting even hotter to the point where she had wished that they had dumped them in the North Pole instead. "What's happening to me?" No matter how much she questioned herself, she still received no answers.

Not being able to help herself, she leaned against the man right next to her.

The mixture of heat and cold was enough to make anyone feel comfortable. Suddenly, the impending death that awaited her disappeared to the back of her mind, as she snuggled against his freezing figure. All she cared about was getting rid of the raging fire that had flurried through her mind. At this point, she'd rather die by suffocation.

Suddenly, the coffin fell with a thud, rocking them upwards from the force.

The pit had actually been dug a few years ago, and now, it was finally being filled–unfortunately, for her case.

Yu Se immediately snapped out of it. This time, she turned to the side, getting a better look of Mo Jingyao's handsome face. Although it was dark inside the coffin, she could still see his strong features–as if someone had turned the light inside this godforsaken case. Her eyebrows furrowed, and immediately, a bunch of memories soared through her mind.

He had been in a car accident, and once he had fallen into a coma, the doctor announced that he had stopped breathing.

Everyone in T City knew of the news. After all, he was one of the most powerful man in the city.

That incident had happened three years ago.

It was then when she had been chosen by the Mo's to marry him.

Not having the time to digest the sudden change of events, she squeezed her eyes shut, trying desperately to search for a solution. Her fingers twitched anxiously. There had to be an answer. There just had to be. She couldn't die like this, not at nineteen! She still had a whole life ahead of her.

Suddenly, an acupuncture point method shot through her mind. Yu Se chewed on her bottom lip. There was no way this could've worked, but she didn't really have much of a choice. At this point, she could at least die trying to get out of this hellhole. Gritting her teeth, her eyes narrowed intensively.

She immediately pressed one acupoint over the other, making sure to follow the pattern that she had seen. "Damn this stupid coffin," she cursed under her breath, following the instructions down to a T. Hope lingered in her chest as she continued with the process, glancing at him every now and then.

A minute had passed, and by that time, she had already pressed three acupoints on his forehead, three on his hips, and two on his chest, before she reached his foot. As long as he had opened the acupoints in the soles of his feet, then there might be a chance that he'd live–that they'd both live.

However, just as she was about to reach for his feet, she noticed a pair of polished leather shoes blocking her path.

Not bothering to think about it, she immediately removed them.

"Shouldn't they come off easily?" Yu Se grumbled to herself, struggling to pull off his shoes. With a cramped space and a short air supply, it was hard to move around. She could only rely on the little force she had left inside of her to remove the shoes. "God, this is impossible! Who the hell even created these shoes?"

Once she had finally taken them off, she didn't hesitate as she pressed down against the soles of his feet, activating the method.

Done!

Yu Se leaned into Mo Jingyao's arms, snuggling up against his chest. Although she wasn't as warm as she had been back when she hadn't been thrown into the coffin with him, it may be enough to bring him up to normal body temperature. "Come on," she muttered. "Just a bit more."

If he lived, then so would she.

Closing her eyes, she relied on his chest to hold her still. The air supply was running out, but she had no other choice but to wait.

Just as she was about to lose all hope, his chest suddenly heaved up and down, and warm air blew against her hair. Yu Se froze, feeling an imperceptible aura sweeping over her entire body. He was alive. He was actually alive!
