C6 I Don't Want It!(6)

Even though he often wore a serious and handsome expression, there was an undeniable elegance about him. Every movement exuded a natural regal aura. His eyes were particularly striking—light blue during the day and emitting a faint white glow at night, enhancing his noble demeanor. Sometimes, she wondered if his father was a foreigner, which might explain her son's unique eyes.

Suddenly, she recalled a pair of glowing green eyes—those of that man. Thinking of him ignited a surge of anger within her. That awful man had treated her so roughly that night, tormenting her for hours before disappearing without a trace, leaving her to question if it had all been a dream. She had no idea who he was or how she had ended up in his room, on his bed, without her knowledge.

Youyou took off her coat, gently chiding, “Sweetheart, I've told you so many times, if it gets dark outside, remember to turn on the lights. Why do you always forget?”

“I can see in the dark, so what's the point of turning on the lights? It's just a waste of electricity,” Yuhao replied coolly, with a hint of bitterness in his voice.

Youyou pulled him into a comforting hug. "Sweetheart, seeing you like this breaks my heart."

"Ugh... that's so cheesy," Yuhao shivered, unimpressed.

Youyou's delicate eyebrows twitched, and she couldn't help but smirk. "This isn't cheesy; it's called showing emotion. Unlike you, always trying to play it cool."

He was only six years old, yet he spoke like an adult, sometimes even more mature than one.

Youyou glanced toward the bedroom and asked, "What's Grandma up to? Why haven't I seen her?"

"Grandma's probably out for a walk downstairs. Didn't you see her when you came back?" Yuhao replied coolly, wriggling out of her embrace.

"No, I didn't." Youyou shook her head and continued, "I have a job interview tomorrow. It's a position with a great salary. If I get it, I'll be able to spend more time with you."

"What kind of job?" he asked, still maintaining his cool demeanor, showing no hint of excitement.

Youyou rummaged through her bag, pulled out a business card, and handed it to her son. "It's with this company."

He looked down at the card in his hand. "Hades Group."

"Hmm..."

"Hades Group is a big company. Their operations are all over the country. Why would a company that big hire you?" Yuhao's little brows furrowed.

Youyou was a bit surprised and asked, "How do you know about the Hades Group? Didn't we just get back to City H? How are you already in the loop?"

"This company has really high standards. You're probably not going to get the job, so don't waste your time," Yuhao said, as if anticipating her reaction.

In a flash, he dashed to his room, muttering, "I'm not trying to discourage you, just being honest. Honesty is a virtue."

"You must be itching for trouble," Youyou said, picking up a slipper and throwing it at him.

With a "thud," the door closed.

The slipper hit the door with a "smack," leaving Youyou hopping mad, but she was at a loss with her son.
