C9 I Don't Want It!(9)
Unable to resist, Youyou asked Ziqing, "Did you borrow these clothes from the cleaning lady?" As she spoke, she lifted her arm and gathered her waist-length wavy hair into a bun at the back of her head.
Ziqing nodded with satisfaction. "Yep, borrowed them from her. This should do the trick. Add some glasses, and we're all set." She handed a pair of large black-framed glasses to Youyou.
Youyou laughed as she put on the glasses, which were so big they covered half her face. The thick lenses, despite having no prescription, blurred her lively eyes.
Looking at herself in the mirror, Youyou couldn't help but exclaim, "You've really thought of everything. Dressed like this, even my son probably wouldn't recognize me. I look like an old maid."
Ziqing's voice was full of amusement. "That's exactly the effect we're going for. Did you get your resume ready?"
"Of course, I did. I prepared two versions. You can tell me which one looks better." Youyou said, pulling out her resume and the one Yuhao had given her that morning from her bag.
"Why did you prepare two? It's not a contract that needs duplicates," Ziqing remarked, opening both resumes. After a quick glance, she chose the one Yuhao had prepared.
Su Ziqing led her to the 33rd floor and pointed to the HR manager's office. "That's the manager's office. I've already spoken to him, so you can just go right in. But be careful with your words; the CEO's fiancée might be in there, and she's not someone you want to mess with."
"I got it, don't worry!" Qiao Youyou replied confidently, walking to the office door with her head held high. She knocked politely before entering.
Behind the desk sat a sharp-looking man, and on the nearby sofa was a woman dressed to the nines, eyeing her up and down.
Qiao Youyou nodded seriously and handed her resume to the manager sitting upright. "Hello, Manager Yang. I'm here for the interview. My name is Qiao Youyou, and here's my resume for your review."
Yang Dongqi glanced at the resume. "Since Su Ziqing highly recommended you, I assume you have strong qualifications. However, your appearance seems a bit..."
As he spoke, his eyes drifted to the woman on the sofa, thinking to himself that her style was as out of place as it gets. Dressed like that, she looked no different from the janitorial staff. If he hired someone like her to be the CEO's secretary, he might have a hard time explaining it to the CEO.
However, he couldn't just dismiss her because of her poor appearance. He glanced at the woman sitting on the couch, the CEO's fiancée, who hadn't said a word or offered any opinion. This put him in a difficult position. He looked down at the resume again; the woman's skills were indeed impressive. He glanced back at Youyou with a probing look. "Could you take off your glasses so I can have a better look?"
Youyou sneaked a glance at the woman on the couch, noticing she was watching her. She thought to herself, this is bad. She had deliberately dressed this way to fool the CEO's fiancée. Now, if she took off her glasses, she'd be exposed immediately. Just as she was caught in this dilemma...
