CHAPTER 3 COULDN’T OFFEND

After that encounter, Alijah managed to return to his usual seriousness at work and led the team during the audition, it is said that the actors they are looking for now are the protagonist of the film since the leading man had long been decided by the scriptwriter who specifically instructed that they have the man she wanted to have.

Elijah could only recline to this on the condition of observing the man chosen himself before calling the shots.

“Well, the man I chose is a well-known artist and had a really good background in the industry with famous works lined up before him, he is quite a catch and I only managed to have him because he like the script,” the woman before them is Guinevere Lacson, the scriptwriter and a well-known writer of the industry. It also happens that she is his friend, Pilmar Timothe’s girlfriend.

He is a great lawyer who Elijah met once in the states 5 years ago at an incident.

Pilmar is a swimmer and Elijah knew nothing about swimming before when he accidentally fell from the cliff on the Music and Arts school that Elijah attended for his last college years.

A formidable man to whom Elijah owes his life. Pilmar asked him to help his girlfriend’s film after the woman complained about not having good enough actors to act as the main protagonist of the book/film.

Elijah had never thought that on the same day that he returned, everything that he slowly built would start to crumble with just the reappearance of a person from the distant past.

“Then, it’s a wrap, we will have no. 253 as the protagonist then, see if the person Hannah wants is suitable for the job before we decide if he is in or out.” Elijah summarized then compiled the files on top of the long table. Everything inside was the things that they needed as the shooting started.

It was not a secret that within the entertainment world, Elijah is quite quick to his feet, and in every film he does, he would only need a day or three to find the people he wants since he knows what to pick and who to keep.

He was always sure of what he wanted which made work for him pretty easy. He believes that famous or not, as long as the person is eligible for the job and knows how to act, suitable for the job description, then he can work with anything.

Elijah did his job and completely forgot that once he leaves the building, he would be met with hundreds of people trying to know what's the score between him and Ion who had just left the place with the help of his manager who took him from the infirmary.

Ion is a famous artist, he sings well and acts well, he was only around for 5 years in the industry and yet he established himself well enough to reach the pinnacle of being an A-line actor and be called as the Best actor of three consecutive years with different films backing him.

Ion Yaeger, Elijah Callahan’s ex-lover, and childhood friend. Ion was once a famous band member of the now-disbanded Syntax with 5 members on board, Ion as the band’s leader, vocalist, and guitarist.

It was said that after they became a famous band, Ion suddenly disappeared for a few months, it was rumored that he broke up with his current lover and was too heartbroken to even continue his career as a musician and when he returned, he had a big concert which turned out to be his last as he announced his retreat from music.

Ever since then, singing and playing his guitar had been a taboo that during interviews and guesting in shows, he would never sing or play his instruments even when people forced him to.

People never heard him play again and his fans could only settle and respect the man’s decision to stop.

Elijah is the lover that was said to have broken the man's heart causing him to leave his band and never sing again. Elijah could not understand why people would blame him for it when it is all his choice and just the consequences of his actions.

In the first place, they knew nothing of what happened between them and they don’t have the right to say he was wrong for leaving the relationship that he too treasured. What was the use of staying when they were only wrecking and ruining each other’s lives?

Elijah loved Ion more than anyone in the world, leaving him was like killing himself, the man was the person he treasured the most, and so when the person you trust even your life betrays you, it hurts more than anything that you feel like everything had no meaning anymore.

“Director Elijah? Have you heard of the ongoing news around the internet? There is a hot video of you and the handsome actor Ion Yaeger kissing going around and people wanted to ask the score between you?” a reporter asked while stopping Elijah from leaving the building. Elijah stared at the man's eyes as if trying to decipher what he meant with his accusing words.

“Didn’t you see what happened? Why are you shading black with white and white with black? I clearly fell and he caught me, the kiss was unintentional and we have nothing going on between us.” Elijah’s voice was cold and the reporters knew that the man was in no mood to talk to them.

They immediately nodded their heads and stopped asking questions. They knew Elijah as a kind and carefree Director, but when he gets serious, he would emit dangerous air around him that scares people away.

They could only resign and give Elijah some space, after all, they would rather not have anything to report than offend such a person with a strong standing in the industry. Especially when the man had such a powerful backing that would do anything to protect Elijah.

No one in their right mind would offend the Big Boss’s favorite person.

Whether they like it or not, Elijah is not their opponent or someone they could pressure into a heated interview. He was simply a hazard zone for measly reporters like them who depend on hot scopes for a living.
