C16 16

-Well bye- she says, turning around.

Without thinking twice and ignoring all the pain that rises my leg I get up and grab Lailah by the wrist, causing him to turn impulsively and have to lean on my chest to keep from losing his balance.

I feel a tingle in this area and I know she does too because the color quickly rises to her cheeks and our pupils begin an intense dance between them. His breathing accelerates noticeably, I make him nervous. And that's a good sign.

-Sleep with me. And there is not more to talk- I say without separating the proximity between us.

She licks her lower lip, not saying anything, and I can't help looking away. Content. You're going to spoil everything. You can not do it.

I pull away from her despite myself, severing all the connection between our eyes.

-Okay, I'm going to call my mother- she murmurs giving up. I don't answer and with great difficulty, I transport myself around the room until I get to the door.- What do you have for dinner? -asks dialing the keys of the mobile.

-There are pizzas in the freezer- I answer, dragging myself down the hall.

At what point did it occur to me to go to a fucking motorcycle race when I was pissed off, with an injured hand, and after so much time had passed since the last time? I feel like thousands of needles are being driven into my leg.

-Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea to stay- I hear her yelling from the room.

I knock twice on the door in front of me, which is Scott's room, but no one answers.

-Scott! Come open!- I exclaimed, leaning against the hall. I groan in pain. I hear Lailah talking to who I suppose is her mother on the phone, but I can't quite understand what she's saying.

-Let me! I do not want to speak with anybody! -Dramatic I put. Scott should be an actor when he finishes high school, every day I have it clearer, at least there they will put up with him a little.

-Don't behave like a child and open the door for me.

-It's open! - he yells from within.

I twist the knob and push.

I see Scott lying on his bed, hugging a pillow and holding the computer on top of him.

-If you're watching porn, I'm out of here. -I say backing away as I can. I can see a smile on his face, but he squeezes it, letting me know that he just needs a little attention.

-Well no.

-And what are you looking at?- I ask with a half-smile walking to his bed and laying down. I don't give a damn but I know what to do to keep him from being angry, after all, he's my best friend. Also, I am just thankful for once I mount the chicken so that at least I can sleep with Lailah.

-Nothing ... -he says moving the screen a bit. Without further ado, I grab the computer with my uninjured hand and look at the screen. An old man, with a beard and a white t-shirt, rolled up, and an old woman in a blue dress who is drenched in rain are talking dramatically in some kind of lake when suddenly they begin to kiss passionately.

Perfect, a romantic movie. I laugh out loud.

-Give it to me! What am I missing the best part! -He complains, stirring and trying to snatch the computer from me. A smell of pizza begins to fill Scott's small apartment.

-But what the hell is this?- I laugh out loud- You're a fucking prick. -Scott tears the computer out of my hands and looks at me badly, but says nothing.- Look, let's make a deal, you get up and we go to dinner instead of seeing that fucking shit, and I tell nobody what I just saw.

He looks at me doubtfully for a moment until he closes the lid and stands up.

-Done deal.

-Okay then help me to go to your sofa.

He nods, and when we arrive, we see Lailah taking two pizzas out of the oven with a smile on her face.

- I hope you don't mind that I've been making dinner, right? -We both looked at her, not knowing what to say.- Well, a thank you would have been enough.

Scott walks over to her and puts his arm around her, so I crawl to the couch by myself.

-Oh, no, no. It is not that, it is that we are not used to arriving at the dining room and having dinner ready. -He pauses and Lailah hand begins to shake from holding the pizza tray so much.- So, thank you very much Lailah.

-You're welcome ...- she says a little uncomfortable- Where could I leave this?- she asks, lifting the trays. Scott finally realizes that he is holding them all the time and reacts.

-On that table over there- He says pointing to the small new wooden table where my leg is resting- You may have noticed that I don't have a dining room It is only this that you see- he murmurs looking around, proud of his shitty floor.

Lailah sits next to me since I don't give her any other alternative, sitting in the middle of the sofa. Scott puts MTV on the little gadget he got for television and the three of us have dinner in silence, well, especially me. Scott and Lailah occasionally exchange comments with each other about the show, but nothing more. Without saying anything, I get up with difficulty, noticing the looks of both on me, and I go to the room. I hear Lailah and Scott move things and then they both walk down the hallway past "the door" of my room to go to Scott's.

What? Are you going to sleep with him?

I bolt upright and when I'm about to get up, Lailah walks down the hall again, but this time with Scott's clothes in hand, and herself. I suppose he has left it to sleep more comfortably, so I close my eyes and go to sleep, which I get right away.

The sagging mattress next to me wakes me up. I half-open my eyes and when I turn my head I see a small ball covered up to the head with the sheet. Then, seeing blonde hair moving towards the center of the mattress, I realize that it's just Lailah in a ball. You probably think I'm asleep. He crawls back to me a little slyly and inadvertently I find myself smiling despite how late it must be and that he has woken me up, which would have to be in a bad way, so I suddenly erase the smile and I turn around, facing her. I notice how she remains motionless and pulls her head out of the sheets, fearful, meeting her gaze with mine. Without saying anything, I drag my free bandage-free hand to her hip under the covers, sinking my fingers into her and feeling her shudder, and bring her closer to me.

When I think she is going to separate or complain, she breaks our eye contact to snuggle against my chest, making me feel all her body heat and a feeling that I had never felt before.

It's kind of like a knot in the stomach, but nice. One that makes me want to smile. And I hate it the same way I like it. I look at her again and see that she seems to be asleep, so I put my arm around her and close my eyes, fearing what I didn't want to happen, and that is that Lailah is causing something in me, and once I untie it there will be no turning back.
