Looking at Gu Yunfang's dissatisfied expression, Lyi Chuxi shrugged.

Back then, she would've just accepted whatever insults had been thrown at her and cried in private. After all, she had always cherished Gu Yunfang and had hoped that everything would go back to normal.

But now, she had finally moved on.

"Mom, I obviously want to welcome Yueyi into our family," she said sweetly. "I just wanted to have a good first impression—that's why I dressed up properly. I'm sorry to have wasted your time."

"Xi is such a sensible child. How could she not welcome her?" Lyi Jiaming said from the side. "Yunfang, you're really thinking too much. We wouldn't be late anyway."

Her expression softened.

"Then, let's go."

After she had gone downstairs, Lyi Jiaming glanced over at Lyi Chuxi. "Xi, don't take it to heart. She's just anxious to see Yueyi, that's why she's a little bit harsh. She still cares for you."

He paused.

"Also, you don't have to worry about me either. Even if Yueyi were to return, you're still my beloved daughter. Although we may not be related by blood, you and Yueyi are as good as sisters. You have to get along, all right?"

Lyi Chuxi smiled. "I know," she said softly. "I'll definitely treat her well."

He nodded in satisfaction.

"You've always been sensible."

After Lyi Jiaming followed his wife down the stairs, the soft look on her face gradually faded. She scowled at their retreating backs.

Ever since Lyi Yueyi had returned, their attention immediately changed. Gu Yunfang would place all her attention on her. And while Lyi Jiaming was more subtle in his actions, he was also quite biased toward her.
