C4 Are You Afraid of Me?

Olivia Moore stiffened.

Get Married? Did she hear him wrong?

Feeling the anxiety kicking in, Olivia Moore staggered back and stared at Ethan Adams for a long time. Her hands were still shaking from what had happened.

Yet no matter how long she had looked at him, he still remained serious. It was as if he hadn't said a word. Not being able to help it anymore, she blurted out,

"I...Did I hear you wrong?"

Upon seeing her surprised expression, he cocked up his eyebrow. "Are your eardrums broken that I'd have to repeat myself?"

"It's just...I'm a little surprised. A few hours ago..." she trailed off, straightening her hair. "You clearly stated that you wanted me to give you a reason if I wanted to marry you."

"Ah..." The corners of his mouth twitched upwards, and his gaze narrowed at her. "But you've already given me my reason."

What? Her eyes twitched. Talking to this man was giving her a headache, far worse than what her legs had to go through in the last two hours. What the heck was he trying to say?

"Do you mind explaining it a bit more?"

"It's your problem if you didn't understand," he said, reeling back with a shrug. "I don't feel like explaining myself. Now...all I need to know is whether you accept my request or not."

"Of course I will!" The words slipped past her lips before she could stop them. How could she when she had waited for this all day? There was no way she's going to reject him now!

"Apart from the few points I've mentioned, I have a few more additional requirements," he added.

Olivia Moore nodded. "Sure, go ahead."

"I like silence, so if you're planning on staying here, you shouldn't be noisy." He leaned back against his seat. "Secondly, you're not allowed to let your friends visit. I'm not going to act with you or pretend to be polite with them. Thirdly, you'd have to accompany me to different events to ward off any woman who'd approach me. Lucasrthly, and most importantly, everything that happens here–no matter how big or small–need to be brought to my attention. Got it?"

As soon as he had finished speaking, he gazed at her furrowed eyebrows and knew for a fact that she was dissatisfied with all his restrictions. He leaned forward.

"Of course, if you can't do it, you can go back on your word," he added as an afterthought.

"I won't." Olivia Moore face shone in resoluteness.

"Then come with me."

Standing up, Ethan Adams headed up the stairs. Although she kept two steps away from him, she still followed him from behind. Her hands fidgeted in anxiety.

This time, he made sure to turn on the lights.

The once dark corridor brightened up. She could see a couple of small chandeliers being displayed across the ceiling and almost a dozen of paintings hung up on the walls. It was beautiful.

She had to restrain herself from gasping.

Gazing at his back, she couldn't help but tilt her head. Had he done it on purpose this time?

"This is my room." He pushed the door open. "Come in."

"I..." Olivia Moore blinked. Enter his room?

Didn't he hate women?

"What? Are you afraid of me?"

Yes. "No." Bracing herself, Olivia Moore stepped into the room.

She was expecting that the room would be filled with torture devices, the same background she had found in the basement. However, his bedroom was actually quite nice and peaceful...It was almost comforting. She took a few steps back as soon as he had entered the room.

"Do you want to take a bath first?" He smiled unexpectedly.

Bathing? Why were they going to take a bath? Was she going to stay here? Although dumbfounded by his question, she didn't allow herself to show it. After all, she had already gotten what she wanted.

"You go first."

"All right." With a shrug, Ethan Adams turned around and headed into the bathroom.

She exhaled, wanting nothing more than to collapse on the beautiful carpet. What the heck was he trying to do?

While she was lost in her thoughts, her phone suddenly rang out. As soon as she glanced at her screen, her face darkened. Lillian Garcia. The woman was obviously going to cause more trouble for her.

Smiling sarcastically, she picked it up.

"Olivia Moore, you slut! How dare you show that video?" A terrifying roar sounded from the other end of the line.

"I thought you showed this to me because you wanted to show off?" She sneered. "I'm only fulfilling your wishes! Let the whole world know of your...talents. You should be thanking me!"

"You bitch! Just you wait! Do you think the Nelson's would let you go? Especially after they found out that you're sleeping with their lifelong rival? They're going to tear you apart!"

"Instead of worrying about me, I suggest you worry about yourself first." Olivia Moore remained unaffected by her threats. "You think that trash like you would stay long in the Nelson's? I'd think twice if I were you."

Before Lillian Garcia could reply, she hung up the phone.

The last thing she needed was to speak to her! Her day was already stressful enough.

Before thinking of Ethan Adams, she had assumed that he really was gay. There weren't many men who'd ward off women this passionately unless he was hiding something, right? But now...she couldn't help but doubt the rumors even more.

Were they wrong?

While she was flashing back to his actions earlier, the bathroom door opened.

He walked out in his silky pajamas. His gaze fell on her. "There's a bathrobe for you. Plus toiletries." He motioned at the bathroom.

"I...Thanks..." Struggling to hide her nervousness, she raced into the bathroom.

"Why are you acting like this?" Olivia Moore murmured to herself while she was in the bath. "You're going to coexist anyway in the future! Shouldn't this be natural for you?"

As soon as she had finished, she slipped into her bathrobe and stepped out of the bathroom. There, she saw Xu Ethan lying on the bed with a book in his hands.

He glanced up at her and patted the wide space on his left side. "Come here."

Olivia Moore slowly walked over and stood by the bed. She gazed at his face for a while, watching the way he stared at the pages with deep interest. Seeing as he still hadn't said a word, she mustered up the courage to call him, "Mr. Adams."

"Hm?" He raised his eyebrows.

Her grip on her bathrobe tightened.

"What are we going to do next?"

"Sleep," he said calmly.

Sleep? Her heart skipped a beat.

How were they going to sleep?

On one bed?

Before she could even ask, he smiled at her once again.

"Would you prefer the lights on or off?"
