C1 Blind date

"Hey Eve; what should I write as my like and dislikes?" Seated in the sitting room with a laptop on lap, Lisa asked.

Eve answered from the kitchen. "Write something less complicated. Guys don't like girls with baggage"

"I don't know what to write that will be less complicated" said Lisa

"Give me a minute" said Eve

"Okay" she replied, rolling her eyes. Today was her only day off in two weeks and she decided to do something different with it.

Which was; create a profile on a blind date app. She was tired of being single and unlike her sister who didn't care about that, she wanted a man and a good relationship.

She'd been off the dating scene for over a year now because of the messy break up with her ex in the past. Now was her time to get back out there.

"Here, give me the laptop" said Eve after she coming out of the kitchen.

She gave her sister the laptop, trusting her to do a good job about the profile.

Eve was her twin sister. They were identical and inseparable from birth. She was the calm and level-headed one while Eve was the indifferent, I don't give a damn about the consequences kind of person.

Eve had gone through a rough patch years back and all Lisa wanted to do was help her feel better.

"Here" Eve said. "I did some changes and this is perfect"

Lisa eyed her sister suspiciously as she collected the laptop.

She gasped when she saw all the changes her sister made on her profile.

"Eve, this is not me!" She exclaimed in shock.

"That's the only way a guy will swipe right on you" Eve rolled her eyes. "The stuffs you wrote earlier were too boring"

"Yeah, whatever" Lisa rolled her eyes. "This is me and the guy who will pick me won't consider me boring at all" she said and changed what her sister wrote. Although not everything.

"You wish" Eve scoffed

"You don't have to be so antagonistic, Eve. Everything mustn't always work the way you want it to"

"Okay then" said Eve. "Go ahead with your boring profile"

In a matter of minutes, Lisa was done with the profile.

She found a lot of guys who weren't attractive at all, some who were mildly attractive and the ones who were just the ones for her.

She swiped and closed her laptop when she was done.

********************

Hours later, someone who looked like the perfect guy for her swiped right on her profile and they began chatting.

"Hey beautiful" he said

She replied with a smiling emoji.

"How's your day going?" He asked

"Great" she replied. "How's yours going?"

"Wasn't going well until I saw your profile. Now I can't wait to meet you" he said

Lisa chuckled. A goofy guy had landed on her lap. She couldn't believe her luck.

"Oh really?" She asked

"Sure" he said. "When are we going to finally meet? Today?" He asked

She laughed again. She was thrilled by his enthusiasm.

"You sure are in a hurry" she said

"Who wouldn't be?" Came his quick reply.

"Okay...how about tomorrow?" She said

"By sunset. I'll text you the location" he said.

She smiled then replied with a smiling emoji, right before closing the laptop.

"Who's got you all grinning from ear to ear?"

Eve asked as she joined Lisa in the sitting room.

"This guy I met on the app"

"What's his name?" Asked Eve

"I think its Gus" replied Lisa

"You think?" Asked Eve, injecting incredulity into her tone.

Lisa shrugged.

"What's his last name?" She asked

"I don't know...he didn't put it there" replied Lisa.

"He didn't?" Asked Eve. "Now, that's suspicious"

"Whoa, Eve" said Lisa. "Slow down"

Eve had been hurt by her past relationships and was trying to heal, but Lisa didn't like whenever her sister projected it on her. Not every guy was the same.

"He could be a serial killer or worse, Lisa"

"Control your straying imagination" said Lisa. "Gus is a good guy. I can conclude otherwise after I've gotten to know him a little in our first date"

"Whatever" said Eve. "When everything goes south, don't say I didn't warn you"

The next day.

Lisa rushed home after work. Gus had been on her mind all day and she couldn't fathom why. It was probably because she hadn't done this in a long time.

He had already texted her the location so she freshened up, and wore a pretty floral dress. She did her hair and makeup and was ready to leave.

Eve was seated at the dining room, working on her laptop. She couldn't remember the last time Eve had an actual nine to five job, she preferred working from home and it suited her.

"How do I look?" She asked, twirling around.

Eve spared her a single glance. "Like you're going to church"

Lisa rolled her eyes.

"Do me a favor, sister. Look lively for once. Wear my strapless green gown"

Lisa shook her head in negation. "It's too revealing"

"That's the point"

"I'm not like you, Eve" said Lisa.

"Okay... Goodluck on your boring date"

"I'll tell you all about it, you don't need to ask" Lisa said then blew Eve a kiss and left.

************

Luckily for Lisa, it wasn't hard to spot Gus in the bar he chose for them to meet. He looked cuter than he did in his pictures.

"Hey" he grinned as soon as he saw her.

"Hi" Lisa's stomach did a little flip. He had a very nice smile.

"How was your day?" He asked

"It was a bit stressful at work today but..." she paused, smiling shyly.

"But what?" He prompted

"I looked forward to this"

He stretched his hand across the table and touched hers. Surprisingly, it felt good.

"I did too"

They began conversing, getting to know one another and the more they spoke, the more Lisa felt a magnetic pull to him. She couldn't believe her mister right just showed up on the first date. It was hard to believe.

He then said something that shocked her.

"Hey Lisa, I need to tell you something" he said, giving her hand a gentle squeeze.

"What's that?"

"My actual name is not Gus" he said. "It's Ian"
