C13 CHAPTER 13: LARSON’S FAMILY

"Mommy, when is elder sister coming home?" Felix asked of his mother, who was busy cooking in the kitchen.

Felicia smiled at her kid and replied, "She'll be here in a minute. She went to meet her pal."

"Is elder sister's friend that poor girl?" Felix pinched his little nose and asked his mother.

Felicia glanced at her son helplessly and said, "You can't label people like that, son. You must not do this to anyone, rich or poor. Use the names we have."

"But that doesn't stop her from being poor!" He snorted as he remembered how poor this person was.

Felicia set down the wooden spoon and approached her son, asking, "Are you looking down on the poor, son?"

"Umphh, so what if I am?"

"Does this mean you look down on Mommy as well?" Felicia asked, her tone offended.

Felix was terrified when he heard this and questioned why his mother was suddenly acting this way, "Mommy, what are you saying? I will never belittle you! You are not like her! Mrs. Larson, the billionaire's wife, you are famous. How can you possibly be poor?"

Felicia couldn't decide whether to cry or laugh when she heard her son's reaction. How could he say such a thing?

Just like he said, it was her spouse, not her, who was a billionaire.

"Feli, before your mother married your father, I was poor as well. Your mother was raised in an orphanage, and I struggled to make ends meet. If I hadn't met your father, I may still be suffering or married to a poor man, but that's not the point of this narrative. Can you understand what Mommy is saying?”

Felix was suddenly in a foul mood. His mother rarely spoke about her youth, so he didn't know much about her other than the elegant and wealthy lady she saw every day.

He felt deep down that he was in the wrong and that he needed to change his thinking after watching his mother lower herself to explain to him in this manner.

So, he looked up at her and apologized, saying, "I am sorry, Mommy. I will never do it again, nor will I alienate people based on their backgrounds."

Felicia felt comforted when she heard this.

She had spoiled her only son so much that if he had been born during the old times when boys were preferred over girls, her daughter would be suffering now.

"That's great, and keep in mind that most of the wealthy people you see out there started somewhere. Some were very poor, but through hard work, they have made it to where they are now. At the same time, many wealthy people have lost everything and become impoverished suddenly. So, child, don't slack off; work extra hard every single second!"

Felix bowed seriously and said, "Yes, Mommy. I promise to work hard and make you proud."

Grandpa John happened to overhear this talk and felt his admiration for the madam grow even stronger. He had never seen such a humble woman as Felicia before, and he was glad that his Master had discovered her.

It would have been a disaster if he had married someone else. At the same time, he felt terrible for her because she was alone in the bedroom most nights of the week.

It was too suffocating for his master because he truly knew how to enjoy life. He didn't understand why he started going out so much after finding such a pious wife, but as a licensed butler, he didn't have the right to complain.

His job was to look after the house and make sure everything was in order. That was the end of it.

Felicia returned to the kitchen after lecturing her son to finish cooking for the guests. It wasn't every day that the eldest miss brought new acquaintances, especially from a low-income family.

Several minutes later, Felix, who had been missing for a few moments, stormed into the house, exclaiming excitedly, "Mommy, elder sister is here!"

Felicia paused for a second and smiled at her son, "Sure, go greet your sister. Remember to be courteous. You don't want to irritate your sister!"

When Felix heard this, he shivered and nodded solemnly as he thought of something, "I still want my life!"

After saying that, the young kid ran out to see his sister and the buddy he had only heard about for the past few months.

Lucilla was beaming as she looped her arm around Avita, whom she had kidnapped from her residence earlier that morning.

She didn't want her to be sorry for agreeing to come to her house for supper, so she went to Avita's house first thing in the morning to confirm that she would be there.

Fortunately, Avita kept her word and did not leave. There was no reason to go shopping. Avita had bought a lot of garments while they were in Sinazolengwe, and they were appropriate to wear to her residence.

Lucilla didn't want anyone to dismiss Avita, so she was willing to invest in her. Despite having a man, Lucilla may still indulge her buddy and buy whatever she wants for her.

She didn't intend to entirely transform Avita into someone she wasn't, but she knew from the first time she and Avita clashed that the other was made for greatness and that being average wouldn't work at all.

She obviously couldn't persuade Avita to abandon her relationship with her subpar partner because their love was so obvious.

The very least she can do is show her around and introduce her to the circles where women can do magnificent things without the help of males.

She didn't want Avita to rely on males in particular; she just wanted Avita to be able to drive her own car and live in a nicer neighborhood than the one she was in now.

Avita couldn't believe her eyes. She had always known Lucilla was wealthy, and because she enjoys flaunting her surname so much, it only takes a second to research and obtain the results she desired.

Lucilla was from a wealthy family, and everyone knew it. She'd seen pictures of this home online before, but seeing it in person did it justice.

"Welcome to my home!"
