C17 CHAPTER 17: OPTIONS 2

At the time, Patrick felt as if everything was a dream.

"Ouch!" he said after pinching himself just to be sure it wasn't a dream.

Avita stared hopelessly at Patrick, who was being overly dramatic about the whole thing, and chastised, "Are you trying to hurt yourself?"

Patrick grew enraged as he glanced at Avita, who didn't seem to be impacted by anything, and asked, "Why didn't you tell me about this?"

Avita looked at him, puzzled, and asked coolly, "I was going to do that just like what I'm doing right now. What were you intending to do if I told you that back then?"

"It is not about what I was going to do, but as partners, you should tell me everything!"

“Everything! Patrick, do you think I'm a moron? Have I ever questioned you about everything you do?"

“No, you haven’t but_”

"I respect your privacy, and you must do the same. Can't a girl heal and consider alternative options?"

"Babe, I… I don't mean it that way, but this is a severe situation. You could have at least informed me."

"And then what will you do?" Avita became increasingly enraged as she reflected on how she had been sacked for no apparent cause.

"Was it your intention to obtain justice for me? For God's sake! I don't even know why I was fired and just wanted to calm down. At the very least, you could console me rather than lash out like this."

“Babe_!”

"I didn't ask you to donate my share. Don't worry, I'll continue to pay what I owe. You are also not permitted to inform your family members about my job!" She scowled angrily at Patrick, who has a habit of overindulging his family.

Patrick couldn't think of anything more to say. It wasn't every day that Avita became enraged, but when she did, he could never prevail. That's why he felt blessed whenever she wasn't throwing a temper tantrum.

When she is upset, one of her terrible habits is not giving her opponent enough opportunity to dispute or explain himself. She just keeps going till the wrath subsides.

But Patrick was always defensive when it came to his family, so he retorted angrily, "They are my family, and I shouldn't hide anything from them. Besides, it's not like your absence from the workforce is a bad thing!"

"Umphh, that's not a bad thing! Are you kidding me?" As she stood up, Avita yelled.

"You will be sleeping in the living room tonight, and don't worry about your money, I won't be using it!"

She stormed out of the room, and a split second later, the bedroom door slammed shut viciously.

Patrick sat stunned on the couch. He still didn't grasp what went wrong till now.

But one thing was certain: he would not be sleeping in the bedroom tonight, and he remembered the last time he was forced to do so. It was seven months ago that his sister irritated Avita, who took it out on him when they returned to the city.

She had been cold to him for days, and he had to bleed before she would forgive him.

But he wasn't about to give up so easily. So, without further ado, he dashed into the bedroom, luckily, she hadn't locked the door.

He discovered her on her side of the bed, typing on her laptop. She didn't even give him a look, and he realized it was going to take a long time for her to calm down.

He approached the bed, went on it, sat by her side, and began coaxing her, "Babe, I am sorry for raising my voice at you like that!"

Avita didn't answer and went about her business, but he didn't give up and said, "I was just surprised, so it just ended up looking like I was being harsh and so forth. I'm sorry you lost your job, and I.............."

Avita promised herself that she would never forgive this man. He was very self-centered. She cooks for him and does his washing, and yet he has the audacity to yell at her.

Instead of comforting her after receiving the bad news, his first thought was to figure out why she hadn't told him sooner.

"Babe, whatever you want to do, I'll be there to support you. You're my girl, and I should back you up. All I want is for you to be happy. So, please, communicate with me!"

Avita shut down her laptop since she couldn't concentrate on Patrick's constant chatting.

She gazed at him unaffected, yet deep down inside, she was happily dancing.

Her next strategy hinged on this, as did her ability to stay a decent girl. She was skeptical that she would receive what she desired this time.

"Please, Babe! Okay, whatever you want me to do, I will do. Just don't disregard me!" Patrick begged as he looked at her truly and affectionately.

Avita knew when to back down. She should strike while the iron is still hot.

"Are you serious? Will you do and assist me in what I want to do now?" she inquired softly.

Patrick's eyes lit up when he saw she was willing to talk to him again, and he nodded in agreement, "umm, as long as it is something that I can do, I will do it!"

Hearing him promise solemnly like this, Avita did a victory dance in her head while remaining unfazed on the outside, "Fine. You said it!"

Patrick comforted Avita, "Babe, you are my world, and if you are upset, I am also affected. So, please, sweetie, just trust me. I will go to any length for you!"

As much as she loved him, she wasn't a fool to believe every single word that came out of his mouth, but since she needed his help badly this time, she was willing to play along.

"I've been trying my hardest to find work," Avita replied solemnly, turning her body to face Patrick, “I've sent multiple emails to various companies but have yet to obtain a response. I also ………………."
