C21 CHAPTER 21: FIRST GIG

A FEW DAYS LATER

As she looked at the photos, she had just finished uploading to her SmileDream online store page on the Cloud Mart marketing platform, Avita smiled with satisfaction.

When she arrived from Botswana the day before, she discovered that her application had been accepted and that she could begin selling.

Cloud Mart's payment methods were secure, but she nevertheless linked her Cloud Mart online store to her PayPal business account, bank account, and Orange Money, a mobile phone payment service.

On this particular day, Avita had been working since the morning photographing her items, which she then uploaded to her online store website with the prices listed.

She can send the things over via post or delivery persons as long as someone buys. And, depending on how far away the buyer is, either she or the buyer will bear the shipping or delivery costs.

She didn't mind bleeding a little if it was local, but if it was outside of Wakothanie, the buyer would have to pay the extra charges. Avita made this extremely obvious on her website so that she won't have to fight anyone about it in the future.

"This is good," she said as she stood up from her chair and stretched her body, “all I have to do now is wait for the orders to start coming in, but first I need to make a Facebook account. I may still promote my products there."

One advantage of Facebook is that it provides a marketplace where users may advertise their products.

She had done her homework and planned to make the most of that service.

Her boyfriend used the service, so why shouldn't she?

Avita did not immediately create an account but instead proceeded to do some chores and eat a meal before returning to the small office desk to begin her duties.

Avita downloaded the Facebook app from her Galaxy phone's play store app, and everything was downloaded quite quickly thanks to the good internet network connection.

Avita followed the directions she was told, and her first Facebook account was created shortly thereafter.

She continued to construct a company page, SmileDream, after opening her personal profile account. She also updated her contact information, including a new phone number she reserved solely for business purposes.

She should never mix her professional and personal lives. She didn't want to get into too much trouble.

Avita wasn't joking when she uploaded the images on her Facebook profile for advertising and did the same in the marketplace area.

Avita only needed to wait and see if anyone called and tried to buy with two platforms marketing for her.

She didn't have the bravery to go out and sell yet.

Avita was thinking about what to do next and how to market her business when her phone called with an unusual tone.

She hurriedly took it from the table, clicked on the notice, and then froze.

Avita pinch herself, thinking it was all a dream.

“Auwww! This is for real!"

She was so ecstatic that she promptly returned her phone to the table and signed into her Fiverr account.

Avita was overjoyed with the first job she had been offered.

Avita didn't charge that much for her services. Other accountants set their lowest prices between OWD 400 and OWD 1,000.

Avita, on the other hand, set her lowest price at OWD 200 and offered at least three services, with a delivery date of three days.

The higher the service charge, the higher the service quality, and the more services are supplied.

This was her first client, and she wanted the cheapest service possible, which included one bank and credit card reconciliation (up to 120 transactions per month).

Financial statements, bookkeeping, and accounting advice were among the other services offered.

If the client desired express delivery of the services and hard copies of the workings, he or she must pay an additional OWD 200.

Her first client, on the other hand, did not require any express delivery, which was fine because this work was something she didn't mind at all.

She used to be an assistant, but she had done everything an accountant could do at work. Her bosses were simply overbearing and would dump all the work on the kids.

She enthusiastically accepted the position and got the right to work.

She didn't require three days at all. She only needed a few hours to comprehend everything and then recheck.

With some work to do, Avita put her phone down and got to work.

****

He had been trying to contact her for some time, but she had not responded.

Finally, he decided to simply wait and see what she was up to when he returned home.

'She's probably preoccupied. It will be a farce if she is idle with everything she has brought!'

He began to stroll back into the office to resume his job after comforting himself.

However, before he walked into the office, his phone began to ring with a familiar tone.

He smiled as he looked at the caller ID and strolled back outside to pick up the phone without entering the office.

"Mom, how are you?"

[Good day, son. Are you working?]

"Yes, I am. Is something wrong?"

[Ha ha, there's nothing wrong with that. I was just wondering if there was any available space at your place?]

"There isn't any room! We live in a one-bedroom apartment," he replied, perplexed, wondering what his mother was up to this time.

[So, what shall we do now?]

"Is there something going on that I'm not aware of, Mom?" he pleaded desperately.

[The problem is...do you know your aunt's Mary daughter?]

"Um, I recall her. What is the matter with her?"

[She will be visiting Wakothanie in a few days, but there will be no other family present. So, I basically agreed that she may stay at your house till she accomplished what she was going to do there.]

Patrick wanted to curse but couldn't because the other person on the phone was his mother. He couldn't disguise his rage any longer and chided, "Mother! You should have notified me before agreeing. You are aware that I live with Avita, and she should be made aware of any visitors. You can't expect me to dump this on her and expect her to accept it, can you?"

[What does she think she has? She doesn't even pay rent, and despite being with you for so long, she has no children. What kind of woman did you find for us? I continually told you that I would never allow that girl into my family. So, forget about it. I don't care how you do it, but make room for your aunt's daughter when she visits!]

Patrick's mother then hung up the phone without waiting for him to react.

Patrick stared hopelessly at the phone, feeling a headache building on.

'This will be a long night!'
