C12 Pointless Monologue

Now I am inside the forest located south of Castalla city, which is about an hour's walk from the city itself. As I look around, the forest is filled with tall and massive trees. It's truly a pristine and well-preserved forest, showing no signs of human damage.

The atmosphere here is quite cool, even though it's already daytime, probably around eleven in the morning. Only a little sunlight manages to penetrate through the dense canopy and reach the forest floor. The trees in this forest are incredibly tall and lush. If I were to describe one of the trees in this forest, it would be like a giant Sherman tree, standing at around eighty meters in height.

My current location is the most suitable among all the places I've chosen within this forest for me to learn and practice magic. There are no disturbances from passing humans or aggressive monsters. Even if there are monsters, they're just small creatures like horned rabbits, squirrels, and transparent slimes. It's fascinating to see the standard monsters of another world right now.

I notice a few slimes hopping around. It's a shame that I don't have the tamer skill or taming ability; otherwise, I would have made them my familiars and become a slime master.

Sitting under a large tree, I open a basic magic book. It feels incredibly comfortable, even though I'm sitting on slightly dewy grass. It's such a stark contrast to sitting at a monotonous office desk every day.

I have ten books on magic that I bought from Mr. Hector. Seven of them cover the seven basic attributes in the world's magic system, one book explains the fundamental knowledge of magic, and the other two are additional books discussing various types of magic beyond the seven basic attributes, along with additional information about the abilities and talents individuals can acquire in this world. These two volumes also touch on magic circles and incantations, but for a more detailed discussion, there are separate books available. Perhaps I'll purchase them after I've studied all the books I currently have.

There are so many discussions and explanations in this book, it's quite extensive. I've summarized it into a few simple concepts about the power system in this world.

In this world, magic is very common for everyone, and there are numerous types of magic. But fundamentally, magic is divided into two categories: attribute magic and non-attribute magic. Sometimes people in this world also refer to magic as skills. For example, body enhancement magic for a knight is sometimes referred to as body enhancement skill. Although, in reality, it's the magical energy channeled throughout the body to strengthen it.

So how do people in this world use magic? The simplest answer would be that there is magical energy in this world. People in this world use various terms to describe magical energy, but the most common one is mana, or simply magical energy.

Now, where does this magical energy or mana come from? According to the book I'm reading, mana or magical energy has existed since the creation of the world. All the mana in this world is said to be born simultaneously with the creation of all living beings.

However, based on unclear sources or rumors, it is said that magical energy originates from one of the moons that this world has. As additional information, this planet has two natural satellites or moons, unlike Earth, which has only one moon.

Furthermore, the capacity of magical energy or mana differs among individuals. Some individuals are born with a large amount of mana or magical energy, while others are born with low capacity. Nevertheless, every individual in this world possesses magical energy, even if it's in small amounts. There are no records of individuals in this world who completely lack mana or magical energy.

Moving on, how do individuals in this world acquire abilities or use magic? First, let me briefly mention the anatomical differences between humans on Earth and the various races in this world.

The anatomy of individuals or races in this world is different from that of humans on Earth. The races and individuals in this world have additional organs inside their bodies commonly referred to as mana absorbers or energy absorbers, also known as mana cores.

They are located at the core of an individual's heart and serve as both a container for magic and a channel for magical energy throughout the body. So, there are three main functions of an individual's mana core: absorption, storage, and distribution. Another important component is the magic circuit, a network of magic that runs alongside the magic muscle network, serving as a mediator for magical energy throughout the body.

It is like a second DNA for the races in this world. However, even if someone has a mana core, without a functioning or intact magic circuit, they won't be able to use magic.

Next is the innate talent or ability that individuals possess at birth. People in this world can use magic or acquire certain abilities due to the talent they are born with. This is often due to genetic connections, where individuals born in this world usually have abilities that are not far different from their parents', or they inherit one of the abilities from their parents.

Additionally, there are additional types of talents bestowed by the god, which people in this world may refer to as blessings. These are usually unique powers that individuals acquire, different from both of their parents. Therefore, in this world, it is customary to determine a child's innate talent after birth with the help of individuals who possess the ability of assessment or by using assessment crystals.

Next, what if someone doesn't have an innate talent from birth? It is still possible for them to use abilities or magic even without innate talent. The alternative method provided by the god is by using magic circles and incantations. However, it has its limitations. For a more detailed explanation, there is a specific chapter in another book that discusses this further.

Furthermore, once an individual possesses the three components, which are mana essence, magic circuit, and magical talent, they can fully utilize magic or abilities. Lastly, how someone can manifest magic or ability also depends on how well they can visualize it. For example, in using attribute magic, the ability to visualize differs for each person, and it is related to the individual's mental capacity. This is why there are two interconnected components in the status of magic usage: intelligence and magical capacity.

These are the fundamental aspects discussed in the book. These are just a few summaries from a basic magic book. As for magic based on attribute types, there are seven basic attributes: light, darkness, lightning, fire, water, wind, and earth. Each of these attributes has seven different levels.

The god has also bestowed me with a magical ability, and in my status, it only states the ability to manipulate magic. However, there is no specific explanation regarding the number of attributes I can use. Perhaps I just have to try practicing each attribute directly.

Perhaps I can still consider myself lucky because the god who sent me to this world bestowed upon me incredibly strong magical power. However, I can't help but reflect on my previous life and my current one.

It's still difficult for me to accept.

Even in my current life, I have to endure the pain of vengeance and hatred, just like in my previous life. Perhaps life in this world will be worse than my previous life, carrying a grudge and hatred that were never mine from the beginning.

It's truly agonizing for me, especially since I feel obligated to exact that vengeance. God has truly burdened me with a troublesome fate, and what awaits me may be incredibly powerful individuals. I almost want to remain hidden in this city and live out my days in silence.

This is my second life. At the very least, I want to enjoy this life with the power bestowed upon me by god, and I also want to experience it in my own way, without being tied to anyone or anything.

Sometimes, I wish I could experience life as an innocent person, traveling the world and spreading kindness without being burdened by any trace of hatred. But I suppose that's also an odd way of life, an innocent person who is aware of their naivety.

"Sigh... how frustrating. Maybe I should just end my life to escape from this fate... then I'll wait for my third life, so I can avoid the destiny of this world," I lamented while gazing at the dazzling sun.
