I managed to level up by twenty levels in just one week. It's a satisfactory growth, but it's not enough for me. I need to accelerate my level of growth even further because I might face very strong enemies in this world.

Initially, I planned to live my second life in this world calmly and slowly. But considering the fate I carry now, it feels quite challenging. I also feel conflicted about which destiny I should choose.

Let's step back a bit and recall what happened to me. In my previous life, I lived alone since I was a child. I never fully knew my parents as both of them died when I was only three years old. They sacrificed themselves to save me during a border war between two countries. I only have faint memories of my parents, and now, given a chance to live a second life, I find myself tangled in a complicated fate.

It's a destiny where I'm placed inside the body of someone who has already died. It's like a story where you're reincarnated into a different person's body with your own soul filling it. This is exactly what I'm experiencing now.

The god gave me a chance to have a second life due to the good deeds I did, but I feel deceived after waking up in this world. I woke up in the body of the second prince of the Fostia Kingdom, Edvans Arshail.

I woke up with all of Prince Edvans Arshail's memories, including his final moments when he was brutally murdered by two individuals. I remember vividly one of the murderers, but I couldn't see the face of the other one in Prince Edvans' memories. The person wore a black mask.

"Revenge, huh... but it's not mine and not my responsibility," I murmured, recalling Edvans' memories.

Prince Edvans truly cursed the betrayal he experienced, but unfortunately, he was betrayed due to his own naivety. He was killed, and his body was randomly teleported and ended up in the Castalla Forest. His body was likely regenerated by the god and filled with my current soul. Our memories and destinies have become intertwined.

"It seems I need to come up with a plan starting now," I murmured with a sigh.

"Vans, have you been waiting here for long?" the guild master asked me.

"No, I've only been here for a few minutes."

Now I'm inside the guild master's room. Earlier, the guild receptionist asked me to wait in the guild master's room because today I'll be having a sparring match with the guild master. Yesterday, the guild master said he would be the examiner for my rank promotion. Although I don't actually need to undergo the examination and will still receive the rank promotion, I want to do it to gauge the extent of my abilities.

"Oh, guild master, where will we have the match?" I asked him.

"In the guild's training arena, the same place you used for your previous fights."

"Isn't there any other place aside from there?"

That's the general training area usually used by adventurers. If we fight there, it will surely attract a lot of attention. I think it's better to have it in a more secluded place.

"Another place? Yes, there is. You can follow me. It's a place I usually use for training."

I followed the guild master to the place he mentioned. It was a separate building located next to the adventurer's guild. It was a closed-off building that looked like an aircraft hangar but slightly smaller.

"We can use this room if you don't want to draw attention."

"Yes, this place is better," I agreed.

The interior of the room was very spacious, with all-white walls. At one end of the room, there was a cabinet and a storage area for various weapons.

"Are you ready?"

"I'm ready," I replied to the guild master.

Title: Guild Master.]

*Whoosh!

*Slash...

I unleashed my first magical attack on the guild master. Two wind arrows and two wind blades swiftly headed toward him at high speed. Simultaneously, without wasting any time, I swiftly moved my body to launch an additional attack. I created a spring of wind beneath my feet, propelling me rapidly toward the guild master. I drew out my white sword, while the guild master blocked my wind attacks with his own wind magic, creating a loud explosion in the room.

I used the magical attack to create an opening in the guild master's defense. Once I was right in front of him, I thrust my sword downward, infusing it with my magical energy to strengthen the attack.

*Boom!

The sound of the collision reverberated throughout the room. The clash between my sword and the guild master's magical shield created vibrations that resonated through the surroundings. My sword strike, enhanced by the infused magical energy, didn't manage to breach the guild master's magical defense. It was truly a formidable defense.

A smirk appeared at the corner of the guild master's lips, and suddenly, a large pillar of earth emerged beneath my feet, heading towards me as my defense was open. Reacting quickly, I took a step back, but it was futile. The momentum of the attack was faster than my reflexive retreat, and it was about to strike me directly. Swiftly, I positioned my sword vertically in front of my body, serving as a makeshift shield. The pillar of earth crashed into my sword, and the impact pushed my body back several meters.

The guild master didn't give me a moment to regain my balance. A beam of light gathered above me, swiftly thrusting towards me. I immediately created a defensive dome of light above me, causing the two light spells to collide.

"You're impressive, being able to respond to that attack," the guild master praised me.

Although we were both skilled in magic, we had distinct differences in our attack styles and combat strategies. The guild master was a magician with an incredibly strong defensive type and a penchant for counterattacks. On the other hand, I was the opposite. In addition to magic, I possessed swordsmanship skills. I could be considered a battle mage, combining both abilities simultaneously.

*Slash...

*Whoosh...

A barrage of wind arrows and a wind spear continued to rain down on my magical shield. Now, I was in a defensive position, ensuring that my protective dome of light remained intact. I kept supplying magical energy into my defensive magic while the guild master relentlessly sent various forms of attacks toward me. It seemed like he didn't want to give me an opportunity to launch a counterattack.

He appeared composed, effortlessly directing his magical attacks toward me. There was no sign of difficulty on his face as he controlled his magic and maintained a steady supply of magical energy, while I remained locked in my defensive stance.

Some of the guild master's magic attacks rebounded and struck the walls, but they instantly returned to their original state. It seemed that this training room had automatic regeneration capabilities.

"Damn... That's an incredibly massive spell," I muttered as I observed a devastating attack being prepared by the guild master.

It was an enormous ball of light magic, seemingly prepared for a final strike. It held an immense density of magical energy, and inevitably, I strengthened my protective magic, bracing myself for the incoming colossal attack.

*Boom!

A deafening explosion filled the entire room, shaking my eardrums and causing cracks to appear in my magical shield. It was truly a massive attack. I hoped this room was soundproofed to prevent the explosion from being heard outside and surprising anyone.

The guild master momentarily stopped his attacks after unleashing such a powerful strike. I seized the opportunity to launch a counterattack, bombarding the guild master with multiple simultaneous magic attacks. Although his magical shield managed to withstand them, it was visibly weakening. I continued to unleash attacks with various attributes.

I sprinted towards the guild master, dodging several incoming attacks aimed at me, increasing my speed, and swiftly thrusting my sword towards his magical shield. I infused my sword with an additional attack spell to further weaken his defensive magic.

*Pyaar...

The guild master's protective and defensive magic shattered, and I drove my sword downwards from above, marking my first close-range attack on the guild master. I infused even more magical power into my sword to strengthen the strike.

However, this attack also failed. The guild master still had one last defense up his sleeve. He enveloped both of his hands with attributes of light and earth, crossing them to block my sword strike. He had truly reserved his defenses for the final battle. The guild master was indeed a magician specialized in formidable defense, combined with equally powerful counterattacks.

"It seems this fight has been enough," the guild master declared, ending our match.

"Huff... That was intense," I muttered, feeling exhausted.

"This was a sparring match for the D-rank ranking, but you managed to hold your own against me. And what surprised me even more is that you're not only skilled with a sword, but you can also use magic simultaneously. It's rare to see an adventurer with such versatility."

"So, does that mean I can be promoted straight to the A-rank then?" I jokingly asked the guild master.

"It's not a problem for me, but it would definitely startle other adventurers if you suddenly jumped to the A-rank so quickly. It's better for you to start at the D-rank first," the guild master replied.

"Well, that's fine by me," I responded to the guild master.

After our battle, we took a moment to rest and recover from the fatigue. It seemed that I had made significant progress by being able to match the guild master's strength.
